Drives up to start line then starts engine lmao!
Must've stalled lol
AmoJ 😂 haha true that 👍
Had the Caterham lost I would have stopped being a petrolhead.
Chris Colabella i sign below!
Probably the best comment I've seen this year.
I'd like to see a RR SVR vs a RR Velar S
Chris Colabella me too. Was dreading it
Caterhams are the key to success.
Good comparison for people to understand the importance of power to kerb weight ratio. Another factor that wasnt considered is the drag created by the vehicle in both relative and absolute terms which influences a lot the outcome above certain speeds.
In relative, the drag coeficient, in the absolute term, the amount of area subjected to drag, which in caterham is way smaller. So.... The result isnt surprising if you know and consider all these factors. Any Superkart will be quicker than a lot of supercars from 0-200kmh.
Fernando Fragoso I would like to see how a lite katerham-like car compares to the 720s on the high end
Houssam Alucad 720S?
Mclaren 720s, which would annihilate the Caterham in every which way, so not sure what Houssam is asking since it's not a fair comparison.
Well I'm looking for the sweet spot of weight to power and that comparaison would make it clear.
Houssam Alucad 4 times the power with less than 3 times the weight and a gearbox advantage would obviously destroy the caterham
To go faster add power or lightness, lightness is better ;)
This is very misleading. The Range Rover Sport EVR has a 0-60 of 4.6 seconds as tested by Car and Driver. That is 0.6 seconds better than what was tested here. The Caterham may still have won by only by a whisker but by golly it would be great to have an SUV with that type of power.
I'd like to see this race again in pouring rain...
OK. Wait, let me go outside with my laptop. :D
Damn that's a fast SUV
And don't forget, extra weight and height counts against everything a car does, not just a drag race. In fact, it particular counts against a car in corners. I own three cars: 1650kg, 1030kg and 490kg, and the differences are really obvious everywhere.
Why did you show us that the Caterham won before the race??
0:45 Drives to the start line...
Starts engine...
Power to Weight Ratios:
Range Rover Sport SVR : 0.23 bhp/Kg.
Caterham Seven 360R: 0.32 bhp/Kg.
Winner: Caterham Seven 360R
";-)
I'll take the 7 any day of the week
5.2 in the svr?? C'mon!!!! She does 4.2/4.4
Spoiler alert @21seconds...well i didnt need to watch the rest of the vid to see which one won. Lmao great editor!
Probably the best Caterham for road use in terms of exploitable power?
2 seater v 5 seater, 2 seater wins shocker. For daily use 99% would have the SVR.
In other news water is wet!
Weight is very important. I think it's something all racing disciplines can agree on.
Reminds me of the Bowler vs Supersport race with Autocar.
EVO needs to get busy putting Messrs.Sutcliffe, Meaden and Needell behind the wheel of some great cars. It is sure going to be strange to see ECOTY without Messrs. Catchpole, Bovingdon and Prosser, but I haven't given up that they will come up with a good finish to the year
I'd like to see a re-match with the new version. I think it might be closer?
SVR claimed at 4.5 sec and it did 5.2 sec! Someone was optimistic. While the person that claimed for the Seven 360R was pessimistic LOL!
To launch the caterham is not that easy
Top quality content as always. :)
Your videos are the most beautiful productions! Wonderful videography!
Dude how come every drag race you spoil it in the beginning...
love the caterham so much but wonder what will happen in a rolling start, from 60 maybe ?!!
Great Video by EVO Magazine
elephant vs cheetah!
I feel you missed a opportunity with some of the shots, the caterham driver should of started its engine, but the range rover driver should of adjusted the climate settings lol.
Caterham, fast enough. :)
Glad Sutcliffe is doing vids now but needs more entertaining content then drag races. Very drive-tribeish. Still interesting tho
Can someone please tell me why giving bhp per tonne stats has fallen out of favour with car magazines of late? Seems like a basic measure of performance to me.
Who is the charitable necromancer that resurrected the Evo channel?
Great video. Great lesson.
Can we do a suzuki jimney vs a la Ferrari while we at it?
Listen up kids

Power to weight is all well and good but how much of that power gets to the wheels in each? I would wager that Range loses a LOT more between crank and tyres than the Caterham.
Also how are they weighed? Take minimum weights and again the Caterham will add a LOT less with a full tank of fuel/etc.
Power@wheels - to - actual weight rather than book PTW figures.
Launch control? Didn't look like the most aggressive start
Wanna see lp610 vs 991 turbo s
Im going to weight strip my celica. Try and get it to around 800kg.
What's that Range doing out of service, bring a 7L Jeep WK with blower, and Paramount Performance transmission, and ANY supercar
No one wants to drive a POS Jeep. There's a reason they don't sell outside of America,
Then how cone I drove some, even V8's in Romania
5.2 seconds for Range Rover SVR really?? That's what a BMW 330i did in 2004
You have to admit though, that Range Rover is mean as fuck
TheBlaggert not nearly as mean as the 7.
Now Mr Sutcliffe moves here? Oh dear...
But can it pull a boat?
3 tonne car vs 560 kg car...are you guys insane to even do a comparison?
Act1veSp1n and 180bhp vs 540. So 1/4 the weight and 1/3 the power. Seems like a good chance to dispel a lot of incorrect assumptions.
540 / 180 = 3 3000/ 540 = 5.35
Act1veSp1n weight listed for the SVR is 2335kg, not 3000.
2335 / 540 = 4.32
Act1veSp1n exactly, hence my 1/4 the weight comment...
Either way, once you add a driver to both the difference becomes less than 1/4, (3.7ish) and starts to become feasible why they would want to compare them. So just a little common sense and some math clears things right up.
That time of the 360R seems slow.
That Ranger Over is just sad.
I actually call this bs, The SVR with an automatic and Awd lost and they somehow put an amazing driver in the Caterham?...Bru, The Americans are getting 12.5@114mph in the 1/4 with the SVR, 4.2s 0-60, n 9.9s 0-100mph, Yet here, AC is more then a second slower in the 1/4, a second slower to 60, And 2s slower to 100mph? Dude cmon..
Lol they showed the result at the beginning
DURATEC🔥👋😎👍❤
Theres a Nissan Patrol in Dubai that would have both these cars. Beat a Porsche 918!
Gear ratio is also quite important, lol.
Great shoots, music, edit, comon evo you still have it :)
Did someone tell the Range Rover driver the faster he chews the faster his car will go???
Lets face it in real life we have friend that can't b comfortable in the caterham
your fat mate you mean?
just got too many chaps around me
An svr any day.....
The Range is fucking heavy
Range Rover = 232bhp per tonne Caterham = 360bhp per tonne. Not really surprising
I'm currently building one with a Honda S2000 engine in - will be 480bhp per tonne :D
I have a range Rover SVR and dragy system to measure times. The quarter mile is 12,5 sec. Not 13,7 sec! This video is a fake
And i have exactly same versión as in the video!
Unless your on a motorway then it gets dusted .
Simon Templecombe that's boring. Real drivers like turns in their roads.
What we learned today kids?
That Range Rover is still filthy nice. And I don't even like SUV's.
yes ,but it is not a real suv! real suvs are land cruisers! they can off road much better ,and yes ,even i'm not into suvs , i'm a car guy!
So thanks for wasting my time. I asked myself why I had watched this video? It was obvious. Maybe if they used a Veyron. It too is powerful and AWD.
Great comparison - As useful a comparison between a chainsaw and a pocket knife
Try it again.........on grass or rough ground ;)
The range rover should do much better
RangeRover add late in the game
RR is yesterday's vehicle: overpowered, overweight, huge footprint + carbon footprint. JLR need to get revolutionary with weight-saving, powertrains and design to not become an automotive dinosaur.
The SVR really is a pointless car
First and best comment ever
E
You show up he result in the intro, like your other videos #lemon 👎🏻
Rr shit
X6M will smoke Both !!
luimarco The L.U.I. has spoken
luimarco or new Cayenne Turbo! Saluted Lui!
Uhh
ariel atom v8 will smoke all 3 xd
tinleo333 you dont need the Ariel Atom V8. A Caterham 600R is more than enough. Or a Superkart. Lol
bye bye suv go home it's better...lol
range rovers are not needed in this day and age
They are, Wealthy Russian and Chinese Businessmen buy them by the Shipload, and that's good for the British Economy.
BLITZKRIEG how would Londoners get their kids to school??
Simeon Yves Indian economy**
True, a lot of the Money goes into Tata's pockets, *but* , the Factory is in Britain, the *Parts* are all Made in Britain, the Leather for the Interior is Made in Britain, the Steel is British, the Aluminium is British, the Wood is British, sure, the Lions Share goes to the Indians (I am now having a very hard job in resisting My Natural Urge to go into Racially charged anti-Red Rant believe Me) but each Range Rover built still has a small but noticeable boost to the British Economy as well!
Simeon Yves Thats encouraging, but dont forget that the steel company is owned by the indians as well.
I'd like to introduce my mini to the Range Rover too: 750kg and the same power with turbo. Bye Rovert.
No chance mini boy.
themardybum08 a 542hp 750kg Mini wont stand a chance?😂
Stop comparing your little shitbox to a luxury cars on youtube dummy.
A classic Mini a shitbox? What would a classic like the Caterham be then, an open shitbox? And did you not watch the video, bum?
I used to have a mini rally car with 1380 race engine. It was faster than most road cars accelerating. I think a lot of people would be surprised
Ranger Rover? More like Range OVER.
One is a tacky range rover and the other is a shitty kit car.
No to both.
A shitty kit car? Caterhams are widely regarded as one of the best kit cars ever. They're based on the legendary Lotus 7, so ,by your reasoning the designer of the Lotus 7, Colin Chapman, designed shitty kit cars? Hmm alrighty then
TheBlaggert Jethro is just upset he'll never drive either.
He does have a tractor tho
Hi Jethro, still driving that Kia?
