I used the first technique on a wine glass that I etched initials onto and a mason jar mug. I am definitely going to try the other two techniques as soon as I can get myself to a dollar tree
OMG you just made my YEAR!!! Dealing with a Sweet 16 Party and wow, did you just make my life so much easier on a lot of centerpieces that I couldn’t find spray paint on. Needed that crisp paint finish but had no idea with my shakey hands how I was going to do it. You are awesome, the INSIDE. Thank you!
Thank you so much it means the world to me that I was able to help you in some small way glad you were able to find my video blessings to you and I hope you have a beautiful sweet 16 party
Oh my goodness thank you so much what a lovely compliment I've had other people say the same about my voice and my quirkiness that is like the best compliment I think she is adorable and thank you so much for the visiting my channel
Oh my goodness, this is one of my old ones. I had to edit out most of what I was saying because of the music in the background had been copyrighted after I had made the video a basically at like 200° just for like 10 minutes
Hey someone left a comment with regards to mod podge and food coloring mason jar as far as Mod Podge being a sealant it does work as a sealant but I wouldn't scrub the glass on the inside you can seal it with an extra sealant or stronger sealant if you're going to use the mason jars as a vase and fill it with water or what have you I would not use any food items are edible items such as cookies in jars painted on the inside the way I did now you can use the mod podge and food coloring and paint the outside glass and bake it the same way I did and then use a sealant on the outside
I’m making mason jar lights and wanted to find a way to paint them without the lights showing the paint brush streaks. So hopefully using the water and acrylic method you used for the first mason jar helps with that issue!!
Indie-Annie Jones i used this method with beer bottles , and I easily painted the inside of the bottles, until I let them dry and most of the paint had ran down the inside of the bottles and settled to the bottom and gave it a stained glass effect which I was not looking for. I wanted the bottle to be completely NOT see through. What am i doing wrong? Too much water and it runs, too little water and it’s not thin enough too move around.
Kelley Mueller hey thank you so much for watching for sealants there's a lot of different clear sealant that you can use there's also this waterproof sealant I don't know if that's what you're looking for but the hardware stores can help you depending on what you're using this for I can tell you that the ones that I colored and have the see-through look they're pretty waterproof once you bake them
Hello! Loved your tutorial! I have two questions- First, how much water do you use in the first jar? & do you leave the first jar upright to let dry over night?
Thank you so much for watching for the first jar just a teaspoon of water it's not a lot it's just to make paint a little more fluid and yes just leave it overnight face down so that the extra paint drips out I used the rack to hold up the jar let it dry overnight
i would never put in the dishwasher the heat will rip the paint off I think. Mod Podge makes a spray sealant that is clear spray also Krylon has a sealant that works well too. i use these mainly for decor d don't use water in them to make them last longer. Thanks for watching!! see link below www.michaels.com/mod-podge-clear-acrylic-sealer-matte/10194372.html?cm_mmc=PLASearch-_-google-_-MICH_National_PLA_Shopping_Null_Null_EDV_General-_-All+EDV+Products&gclid=CjwKCAjwo_HdBRBjEiwAiPPXpK1UHxITXpELhp-aDbpv-hqtpOgElCGKuKtXo-URvlkFQvsPLuKJ7RoCrmsQAvD_BwE
After my 5th try, after 12 hrs I come back and the paint is coming off in certain areas (Looks like sagging paint). Happens every time. On last try I put them in the oven at 175’ for 30 min. Still happened. I haven’t tried mod Podge yet, maybe next bottle, but I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong? They look beautiful for 1st 12 hrs. Help!!
I would do three parts Mod Podge one part water depending on the size of your jar 4 quart jar I used what's relatively similar to a quarter cup which would mean a third of that was mod podge and a quarter of that was water
Yes just as you see the tutorial I'm using Apple Barrel I acrylic paint but it could be folk art Eddie acrylic paint the important thing is to water it down just a little bit so that it rolls into the mason jar easily and then if you like you can seal it either with some Mod Podge or any other sealant I still would not suggest using water in the jar
Mod Podge is generally better for this simply because it's not just a it's a sealant but I was under the impression that white glue would also do the trick sorry it didn't work for you
I start with an oven. At 200 degrees for 10 minutes for checking intermittently. You can also dry it with a heat gun or a hair dryer. It takes a little longer.
Thanks for your video. Pls for the first one, is this method safe for a cosmetic jar? I make diy cosmetics and I want to beautify my glass bottles. Do you think it would be safe using the acrylic and paint and then sealant? Any advise? Thanks
Thank you so much for watching I wouldn't suggest if you were going to use any kind of creams or anything that would be used on the face to use the first method or even the third method the safest thing to do is paint the jars on the outside and then seal them
You can even tint the glass on the outside like I did in the third example to make absolutely sure even though Mod Podge is non-toxic I don't know what the combination of your product and the Mod Podge would cause it may even tents your cosmetic product thank you again for watching
Hey there I have to look and see it's one of the CZcams music selections for editing videos it was something like bright and happy or something like that
Slaysmr hi there I guess that are they appear that color because they're just the regular mason jars however I think if you get there's a paint that you can rub into metal to change the color
If you're painting the outside of your mason jar the most important thing to do if you don't want it to scratch off or look aged is to use a sealant I would suggest if you want to keep Farmhouse look to use a matte sealant Mod Podge can work as a sealant. However I would not wash these mason jars because the paint will come off
Yes you can and if you want you can use a sealant to make sure that the paint doesn't scratch and that's easy to find there is one made by Mod Podge or you can just find a paint sealant on any hardware or craft store
On the third craft, can i use acrylic instead of food color? And can i use Elmer's Glue instead of mod podge? Does it have the same effect, please reply
Hi there on the last one if you use acrylic paint you'll have an opaque jar in other words you won't be able to see through it because the paint is thick I haven't tried it with Elmer's Glue. Something with Mod Podge is that it's kind of like a sealant as well as gluing medium but I would be willing to try and again if you want to see through glass stained glass effect you have to use food coloring
To avoid streaks I used a fully loaded brush I didn't do dry brushing or anything but I tried to make sure there wasn't any dripping it's just a balance of how much paint to use
I don't understand this video...it appears to be instructional and I can see her mouth moving but the only thing I hear is the music. I don't have any problems w/ hearing people speaking in other videos.
Well, I wouldn't want to force you to do that now, would we? but I am glad you stopped by and hope you got a little bit of new information on mason jar painting.
Hey! You have my blouse on,! 😂
I love mason jars, and these colors are beautiful.
Oh no wonder it was so stylish. We both have very good taste. Thanks so much for watching
Loving your inspiration
Oh thank you so much!
So glad I found this video. I love the 3rd one the best. Will be trying that tomorrow. Thank you for this.
Once you start making these and see how easy it is you'll get hooked and make colored mason jars for your whole house

@@IndieAnnieJones1 question... the jars in the oven ...it can be the prego jars too??
As long as they're glass it should be fine start at a low temperature and just check on them every so often
@@IndieAnnieJones1 I am afraid it will break ...🥴...
@@nancymucha6897 no worries you can also use a hair dryer on high although it'll take more time

Just found your channel. Thanks for this info. I do have a question though. What do you use/recommend for a sealant?
Kelley Mueller hey thank you so much for watching for sealants there's a lot of different clear sealant that you can use there's also this waterproof sealant I don't know if that's what you're looking for but the hardware stores can help you depending on what you're using this for I can tell you that the ones that I colored and have the see-through look they're pretty waterproof once you bake them
Indie-Annie Jones thanks. I will try out a few once summer is done. My daughter is redoing her room so we are looking for ideas.
I'm happy I found your channel. I now have great ideas for a graduation party with school colors. Thanks
Indie-Annie Jones How long do you bake them, & what temperature do you set the oven on?
Hermoso!
Muchas Gracias!!!
Hi live these ideas! But have one question, for the first version can I use it as a base for flowers or would the paint cone off?
Andrena Nunez if you use a sealant for the inside then you can fill it with water
Indie-Annie Jones awesome thanks! Any one on particular that you'd recommend?
Is there a certain amount of water needed? Or is it not exact? Can't wait to try
just to make the paint fluid enough roll around in the jar. Thanks for watching!
Great video. Thanks for sharing. What kind of paint should I use to for the lids?
You can use acrylic paint with a sealant or use spray paint.

What can I use and or do to seal the first one so it won’t come off? Get it to a point, can put in dishwasher maybe?

S. Scott Walker believe it or not I pick that up at Goodwill most of my wardrobe is from there
I got it at Goodwill I don't think it had a label on it unfortunately
Well, thanks for checking :-) I appreciate that - and great video!
What temperature do you use for curing them? I love these jars, thank you for sharing.
Do you have to bake them? I want to paint the outside of the jar.
Hi,
I attempted this but with PVA glue, but didn't find the colour to drain or last. Was washed of instantly. Do you have to use modpodge for this?
Mod Podge is generally better for this simply because it's not just a it's a sealant but I was under the impression that white glue would also do the trick sorry it didn't work for you
@@IndieAnnieJones1 thank you for taking the time to reply x
Thanks for the video. The mod podge Mason jar was place in the oven at what temp and for how long?
I start with an oven. At 200 degrees for 10 minutes for checking intermittently. You can also dry it with a heat gun or a hair dryer. It takes a little longer.
Does it matter what type of mod podge is used. I have some dishwasher safe mod podge.
I haven't tried the dishwasher safe Mod Podge but give it a try

Hello Indie, love the background music, what’s it called please.
Hey there I have to look and see it's one of the CZcams music selections for editing videos it was something like bright and happy or something like that
For the last jar, you did would the mod podge and food coloring stay without cooking it?
Actually yes you can leave it drying but it takes a very long time the best method is to cook it just for a little bit and it works fine
What color apple barrel did you use for the white jar?
I think it was just plain white but I added a little bit of the green to it
Did the last one have bubbles while making it? Cause when I tried it, it had bubbles
Hi ..I had a few on my first try...if you add a little water to the mod podge it helps...just a few drops

how long do you leave in the oven
You leave it on very low no more than 10 minutes is what I did I just kept checking to make sure that it was becoming translucent the coloring
On the third craft, can i use acrylic instead of food color? And can i use Elmer's Glue instead of mod podge? Does it have the same effect, please reply
