Canyon ShapeShifter 2.0 ISSUES? I’ve got the fix, and it takes 5 minutes!

  • I recently picked up a 2019 Canyon Strive CF 8.0, when i bought the bike, i could tell immediately that for some reason the shapeshifter didn’t seem to be working properly. I went through days of trouble shooting, before I found the answer, and all it took was a quick call to Canyon and 5 minutes of messing around with the bike. Check out this video and hopefully it can help you fix your Canyon bike with the ShapeShifter 2.0!

    WHEW! Glad I found your video and you doing all the labor to troubleshoot the Shapeshifter busing issue. I ran into this issue today on my bike, but in the reverse of yours. I'm stuck in "climb" mode and can't get into DH mode. I didn't have to deflate the shock but did have to tune my cable and then the whole jumping on the shock trick. It all worked out, but your vid def set me on the right path! Cheers from near Canyon Germany! lol

    Hi very useful video, I'm with my new strive with the same problem or similar to this, it's stuck in xc mode and doesn't want to know about switching to enduro mode, yesterday it worked today not, I tried to follow your instructions but he doesn't want to know, I completely deflated the shapeshifter air, got on the bike and moved upright on the pedals as hard as I could while I tried to switch to enduro mode without success, I then inflated the shapeshifter to the same pressure as the shock absorber and put it back in enduro mode but nothing happens, I'm very annoyed by this, did I do the procedure correctly? I noticed the same thing on mine, i use a Rockshox digital shock pump and I’ve noticed anywhere between 10-15 PSI loss upon removing the pump. Not the shocks fault, but what happens after pulling the pump off. I just over inflate by roughly 10 PSI and that’s seemed to do the trick for me. I haven’t noticed if i run the ShapeShifter higher or lower than my rear shock any difference in performance. Hopefully if it wasn’t working great, the video helped you out!

    Thank you very much for the video, I was getting really frustrated i still don't really understand the following though: if I pump up the shapeshifter to 200psi and disconnect the pump, will it stay at that 200 psi? Because everytime I hear air moving out while disconnecting the pump. So I am really struggling to dial in the right pressure...

    • @CoolBikeVidBro
      @CoolBikeVidBro  Před 4 lety

      What I’ve noticed is that the pressure in the shapeshifter really is irrelevant (of course if you are a heavier rider, the more pressure the better), i found that upon disconnecting the shock pump, it loses maybe 10 PSI. If it seems like you are trying to finesse the air pressure too much, my guess is that the bushing inside the shapeshifter still is a bit stuck. Mine worked flawlessly after i was able to free the bushing. Make sure that you are in Clack mode, (climb mode) release all the air, cycle the shock as hard as you can, pump the shapeshifter back up in Clack mode, and see if that helps.

      Sometimes it’s better to let a shop do it haha. Before AXS, I would always have a shop tune my rear derailleur, it’s black magic to me with the cables and such. Glad you got it fixed and enjoy the bike!

      Reynolds are working great! I’m coming from a set of light bicycle rims and haven’t had an issue with them yet. Hub is holding great as well. I’m a pretty light rider though.

      I’ve enjoyed mine and would definitely recommend it. Initially I had shapeshifter issues when it was new and out of the box. Luckily I found this video, broke it in and have since had zero issues. After a few rides the click and clack will work fine. Cheers.

      I would absolutely recommend this bike. It’s been an awesome bike to own and ride. I think they get a bad rap because people have some issues with the bike, but after 3 months and hard riding, mine was nothing but supreme! You can’t really beat the value for the money.

    I have the same problem with a brand new Strive CF 9. Shapeshifter not working. Not even with your tips. And I can't change the cable tension. I can't turn anything. Neither clockwise nor counterclockwise. Maybe any ideas what I can do? Thanx a lot.

    Hi bro, I have the same problem but is worse, the levers to change the mode between DH and XC don’t work, when I push the levers nothing happens, nothing moves (levers and position)

    • @CoolBikeVidBro
      @CoolBikeVidBro  Před 3 lety

      Luis, sorry to hear that. I didn’t experience that issue with my Canyon, however, i do know that there is a cable that runs from the lever to the shapeshifter. Have you checked the cable?

    • @luisc7747
      @luisc7747 Před 3 lety

      Cool Bike Vid Bro yes, i checked that cable and it works but I don’t know why when I push the levers of the shapeshifter system the position of the frame and levers don’t change

    • @CoolBikeVidBro
      @CoolBikeVidBro  Před 3 lety

      When you take the cover off the shapeshifter and pull the lever, do you notice anything happening where the cable ends?

    • @luisc7747
      @luisc7747 Před 3 lety

      Cool Bike Vid Bro Yes, I noted that the cable is moving, but when the lever is released it returns to its original position, i only see a movement on the cable but when I release the lever it returns to the DH position, I can’t put the lever in XC because it returns to DH

      @@CoolBikeVidBro no worries, it’s an A for effort, It’s disappointing that Canyon didn’t make the effort that you did Bruh. The piston is a lemon, they know it we know it...and Bike Yolk knows it...hence their replacement link. Just frustrating that I spent a bunch of my quality time to find this out. It is outrageous that an employee from Canyon taught you that “this” is the remedy...that you will have to do several times...and the malady will return. Completely unacceptable...the fix...the service...the warranty replacement (that will ultimately fail again). Bike shops can’t afford to throw away their time. Epic Fail. You did your part... Receives a bike that has not been fully constructed and is then still happy that he can call a service hotline at his own expense, where you can get min. 1 hour in the queue hangs.
