We are very excited to be releasing another Monster Lab, the first in a series of videos that will show you how to sculpt, mold, and paint latex monster hand gloves. We took a poll here and on our Patreon site and a monster hand tutorial easily won for what people wanted to see next. We tried to make this comprehensive so it is long but we believe worth the length. It can be tricky to make hands, we encourage you to watch this through a couple of time. We want to give a very special thanks to our Patreon members for helping to support this video and get it made! Info in how to join as a Patreon member is in the description. Now we need to start filming the molding of the hands video before you all finish your monster glove sculpt! ready, set, go!
Thanks from Argentina!!
I always tell myself that you are the best sculptor teacher , you give us your long years of experience for free , you are a wonderful person Ed ..
You’re amazing and so cool to show people how to do this. I have several silicone masks I need hands for, but they’re always just as expensive as the masks. Maybe I can make some now.
Its sow awesome 2 see a GENIUS , a true HAUNT ICON at work , i could watch this videos all day every day , thnx sir 4 sharing your huge amount of knowledge , greetings from The Netherlands .
Awesome cant wait for more!
You sir are the Bob Ross of horror 👍
Don’t ever stop making these videos they inspired me to start making my own Halloween masks and stuff for my work
We look forward to seeing your work! Keep us all posted on your projects and if you make any hands let us know how it works out!
@@DistortionsUnlimited I did make some hands but the mold for them broke
Can't wait to see peoples creations as they make their own monster hands!
Very cool that Ed showed a few sculpting variations on the fingers to help people create their own monster hands, whether they be for an alien, zombie, werewolf, or any other monster!
Hands down one of the best creature sculpting tutorials.
Thank you so much
Ed, you've been an inspiration of mine, for decades! I teach students overseas, everything from 3D printing and video production/editing, to monster molds. I've had the gracious opportunity to utilize my skills in horror movies that have been shown in theatres too :). I just want you to know, I'm always on the lookout for your videos, especially every year around Halloween, when you release something really cool. Keep up the great work! Hopefully our talents cross paths one day :) Would be an honor to collaborate or even have a chat one day. Thanks a lot Ed and your team :) There's a whole generation of young people here in Taiwan, that I'm sharing your mentorship with, knowing who you are and what you do! Inspiring young minds!
Ps. Maybe surprising to you, latex and silicone is so hard to find here, overseas. I've been all over the country trying to track down suppliers! Here's a link to our IMDB page, for a movie I worked really hard on. I did all of the props, and visual FX editing, if you'd ever like to check it out! www.imdb.com/title/tt7950234/
Thanks again! :)
Wow! Thank you Kyle!!! Hopefully our paths will cross!
I once came across *MAKING MONSTERS* on accident, and it was the happiest accident I have ever had. In October of 21 I just purchased season 1 & 2 of making monsters. This team is sculpture's are a talented group of people!! How Ed comes up with these ideas is crazy, I never see the stuff Ed, Jordu and Marsha come up with, at spirit Halloween or party city. If I do see something similar to what distortion has made, it's nothing close to how Ed created it.
Hello from the Distortions crew and so happy that you found and are enjoying Making Monsters! Wishing you a Happy Halloween 2021 and enjoy the show!
Such an amazing video, I could watch stuff like this all day. I hope you end up doing more monster labs with making masks
Thank you so much and we certainly plan on doing more of these Monster Labs in the future.
If there's anything better than an Ed Edmunds sculpting video, I haven't found it. (Then again, I live a lonely sheltered existence.). Thanks for the video.
I know this is an old comment but I just had to say...watching Jordu Schell is pretty awesome too.
I like that you show the process and show the issues you might come across.
Amazing work as always! Love from Brazil
Hello to Brazil! so cool to have viewers from around the world!

Thanks! 😃
Awesome!!! And, Uh-Ohhhhh! Now it won't be special anymore!
Thanks Ed for another great video, I always find them extremely informative very fun to watch. I really enjoy the longer videos like these I don't think you can learn too terribly much from a five minute video, thanks again you're a truly talented artist.
Hey Jack! We are happy to hear that you like the long form content! We have another one coming soon on the molding so hope you will enjoy it. Thanks again.
@@DistortionsUnlimited I'll be there ED...
Thank you for taking the time to make this video! I’ve been wanting to make my own monsters because of you guys.
I’m not sure if you said in the video, but what brand of mask making latex do you use?
Thanks

New subscriber!! Thanks for sharing your talent!!
Hello I really love your creations of masks and monster props but do you happen to know how to make a penny wise mask with a movable jaw?
You and Allen are two of my favorite monster makers and I have learned so much from both of you guys thank you for these videos and keep up the great work and are you going to make a buck of this
Thanks so much for the kind comments and support! We appreciate it! Wishing you all the best on your creations
Thank you, and Allen ROCKS! Alen puts out 50 videos for every one of ours!
You are welcome
Vc é um gênio!!! Parabéns!! Pena que não tenha tradução gostaria muito de saber a massa que você usou!! Vc é show!! Obrigada!!!
👍👍👍👍👍Very cool!!
Thank you 👍
I love your monster labs 🧪. Would you guys be willing to critique a project I’m working on if I send some Picts through email? I learned everything from watching monster labs and would love feedback from you Ed
You bet!
Who picks the music for these vids? It's on point.
Ed picks the music for them! Thanks!
Gronk Started a cooking show. Gronk like your videos and have Helped but Gronk still needs help with how Gronk look. Gronk be honored if you look at Gronk channel and tell Gronk what videos to watch. Many thanks.
Pre drilling would make your job easier.
Great point and tip! Why do we like hard work so much! haha!
Your work is astoundingly good.
About How much clay did you use to make both hands and how long did it take to complete them?
when i would teach students how to draw/paint,
i would tell them you need to learn how to "see"
the world. The brain only shows us a bit of info
and not all of it. otherwise we would go nuts. you
have to retrain yourself how to see. Good video
and God bless
Really great advice to your students! That is exactly right!
I have a question about the epoxy thing because I cannot find it anywhere
Sure, what's the question?
Be cool to see monster feet that you can slip on like a shoe.
It's coming, just talked about it this morning.
That seem nigh impossible
So, if you encountered a phenomenal sculptor that insisted on working with Monster Clay, would you hire him.. or her, or whatever?
Sure, Monster Clay is fantastic! But I might want to hire them by the project and not by hour!
You should use silicone
