Ali Nadim is from Lahore, Pakistan. He is Muslim and his main rival is Ranjeet who is Sikh. Their rivalry is to portray the tensions in the Kashmir area between the Sikhs and Muslims. Ali Nadim is a comical character who amuses me in many episodes. I did not expect him to have 50+ minutes of screen time. His catch phrase is,"Oh Blimey", which I edited days ago here:

This was & still is genius, I was an A-level student in London when this came out & I remember the series well. No one can beat the English at comedy & I'm not even from England.
The writing in the show was top notch pure genius A-grade level.The comedy here is something modern sit-coms fail to capture, mainly because the current audience is much more sensitive and might not jokes very kindly while the audience up to late 90s from 70s was still able to take jokes with a pinch of salt. We should all take jokes with a pinch of salt and not be so sensitive
I recently started watching this show, i think Ali is the funniest one. This show made me laugh so hard. In comparison, shows today are just an embarrassment.
I have to agree sadly. Mainly because the current audience is hyper sensitive, and cannot take a joke, so comedy shows have to dial down their jokes a lot, to the point it is no longer funny

It is quite sad. Dino Shafeek passed away from a heart attack. Had he not passed, it is very likely we would see him again in Season 4, given Ali is a very popular fan favourite. Funny and pretty based. I would love to see how he and Ranjeet became more friendly in Season 4, even if they poke into each other with jokes occasionally since in Season 3 they start to be more friendly towards each other compared to other seasons. Farouk, the guy who replaces Ali in Season 4 is a poor copy of Ali. He's not as funny and not as based as Ali. His delivery of Ali's catchphrases like "oh blimey" and "Jelly good" were butchered.
