    The only people complaining about reliability are people that don't own one and are spouting a very outdated and uninformed narrative. As a mechanic of 33 years I can tell you that the most unreliable Euros are BMW and Mercedes. The only thing Alfa lacks is a comprehensive dealer network.

      I agree with you on that. I work at a dealership and I can tell you. Alfa Romeo should require that there are designated "satellite stores" just to create a nice web of service across the country. Just require certain Dodge dealerships a trained and designated Alfa Romeo technician and Alfa Romeo service advisor. This would be a constructive way to secure a network and satisfy customer confidence.

    I have a 2018 Stelvio ti sport. I have to first say, as a 54 year old woman, the best car I have ever owned. I loved that car so much. Fun to drive, tight turns, and looks so cool. I was in an accident with it three days ago. Was rear ended while stopped. Driver was going about 35 miles an hour, deployed airbags hit car in front of me. Ended up as a six car accident with my car getting the brunt of the damage. He did a great job protecting me. Unfortunately it was totaled and I will need a new car soon, guess what my first choice is gonna be? Oh, he only had 19,000 miles too.

    • @ZeroG
      @ZeroG Před 2 lety +9

      Yeah my Stelvio got totaled recently by a thief who joyrided it into a house. I love the car so much. I looked around at what else is out there today-Teslas, Mercedes, BMWs, Cadillacs, Audis, Maserati, Land Rover, etc. But after honestly considering all the options, I am buying another Stelvio, because there just isn't anything in its price range that comes close.
      To me it's not even about the way the car looks on the outside. It's a nice looking car but, it's not a Corvette C8.
      Rather, what I love about Stelvio is the overall ergonomics and simplicity of the cabin layout. Without taking my eyes off the road, I can change the radio station, adjust the climate controls, turn on/off the headed steering wheel and heated seats, use Siri, make a phone call, turn off the infotainment screen or adjust its brightness, change drive modes, shift gears, etc.
      Combine that with the sure-footed handling, excellent braking, and I really feel so safe on the road while driving this. I feel confident that I could dodge anything. It feels more like driving a VW Golf or WRX STI, than like an SUV.
      I also love the way Alfa implemented Adaptive cruise with stop-and-go. It's like, all you have to do is steer, and the car does everything else. So nice.
      The seats are the most comfortable I've ever felt in a car, personally, and I'm 6' 3" with scoliosis. Seat comfort is a BIG deal to me, and the Alfa heated seats in Stelvio are just... total perfection. I can sit perfectly straight up, head never grazes the roof, and can you never feel thrown around. It's just night-and-day more comfortable than the Cadillac XT5 I have on rental while waiting for replacement Stelvio.
      The fact that Stelvio is "fun to drive" on top of all that, well, that's just gravy. Good handling is firstly a safety feature.

      Electrical issues are kind of typical on cars with high use of electronic. …which are almost all of them.
      Also, electronic stuff comes from the same suppliers. For instance, look at the Stelvio:
      Adaptive Cruise Control (with radar) and autonomous driving it’s from Bosch.
      Fly-by-wire brake system is from Continental.

  • @dingdingdingdiiiiing
    @dingdingdingdiiiiing Před rokem +3

    Of course it's impossible, but true reliability would show from 3-10 years, making about 15-20k miles per year, regular service intervals, people not pushing the car too hard at every opportunity. People having it from new up to 3 years with no complaints... I think you'd be hard pressed to find a car that breaks down within first couple of years.
    Then there is driving style and servicing intervals. If you buy a golf GTI, BMW M, or Audi S, you don't buy it to drive it nicely, 20-something year olds get it, they push the pedal to the metal no matter if the engine is warm or cold, they don't check for oil, stretch service intervals, cheap out on oil and filters. And then those cars are infamous for being unreliable. So I don't know.
    I've got a megane III, bought at 3 years old, now 14, over 160k miles, the only actual problem was the AC cooler, had to replace it no less than 3 times, because the aluminum alloy used is of really bad quality. Other than that, no issues. Replaced brakes/discs when they got used up, replaced shocks when necessary, replaced clutch once, all those things were due to usage, not faults. So that's what I'd call reliable and that's what I expect from my next car. What I don't want to experience is random electric faults, car going into limp mode for no apparent reason, engine turning off for no apparent reason, check engine light, DPF filter getting clogged, sensors failing, things like that. No word on that with Stelvio here. Again, if it's 3 years old, low mileage and no issues, it doesn't mean it's reliable.

    Everybody knows Italian cars are unreliable. All but those who actually own them and replace them with other Italian cars.
    Unfortunately, the word that sticks is the one from everybody that doesn’t own them. And unfortunately the Italian car industry is suffering from it, while everybody is experience reliability problems with the German offerings that are well built, but unreliable.
    The car industry is a sad business.

    Just as unreliable as any other European car. So if you can own a BMW or VW you can own an Alfa. I had a MK7 Golf TsI which had the worst transmission, dealer said they can’t do anything about, would making pre ignition sound at low rpm and high load, horrible infotainment. These were too major to ignore so I just sold it to a teenager who “just had to have a Golf”. My 2018 Stelvio had almost zero problems. So all this garbage about Alfa being unreliable is just nonsense. There will be lemons, but I’ve been impressed so far, it has tons of power, quicker than a lighter F30 328i.

      @@JIMMY-ck1oe I don’t know. Toyotas are very reliable but they aren’t as fun as European cars. Oil consumption of 1 liter every 6000 miles is extremely good in my opinion. As a comparison Audi won’t fix their engines even if it consumes liter every 1000 miles.
