Jimmy is a real one, even if he looks like a ventriloquist's puppet
😂😂😂😂I'm dead 😅
That made me laugh
He always reminds me of the aliens in Galaxy Quest 😂
@@bettynolo23 Never Give Up, Never Surrender! 🤣👏
Lmao
First time I've heard Jimmy talk outside of stage or screen performance. What a great person to listen to.
He is the most intelligent comedian in the UK.
@PeterSothern you wouldn't think it based on his stand up. I definitely going to be seeking out more conversational content from Jimmy.
I had the same experience when I heard him on James O'Brien's Full Disclosure, I'd fully recommend a listen.
Russel Brand did a great interview with him a while back. Both funny, but intelligent guys
What a pair of smug bastards
Jimmy Carr's stand up is exceptional. As a TV host, he's tremendous. As a talk show guest, he's engaging. He's so quick with his humor. One of the best in the business by far
Absolutely! He's always been an excellent comedian and TV personality, but having heard more of him having serious conversations recently makes you realise how much of an intelligent and down to earth guy he is
Not so good at accounting 😂. Totally agree though, seen him live, he is awesome!
@@andrewmcallister7781 yeah i was gonna day the only thing he’s not good at is paying the tax man lol what a guy
Yes, as a host and talk show guest but his stand-up game is weak.
@@WhitbyStuffwouldn't say that, his comedy may not be for you but his success counts for something
When Jimmy Carr tests the audience to see how dark they will let him take his jokes, its absolute comedy gold.
What great reaction from Jimmy. Loved how instead of bitching about something trivial, he chose to appreciate what he does and what other people dont get to. Comes across as guy who is really down to earth. Great listen.
That's what separates the great from the mediocre. State of mind.

I love his sly "good luck with this" that somehow didn't get a chuckle from Joe. Such a perfect Jimmy compliment. "Good luck" with the biggest podcast in history, maybe it'll work out for you eventually 😂
I was pulled up on stage with Jimmy Carr. I had to play his best mate in a play he wrote. He made me sing YMCA and eat Marshmallows. What a night
So.... 'cast' rather than "pulled up on stage"?
@@supremebuffalo6322 Yes and No. I was pulled up from the audience at one of his shows. And the sketch was to play his best friend. I didn't really explain it well lol, was in a rush when I typed the comment
It’s so refreshing to hear him talking about that in the way that he does, I’m so tired of people in those insanely high top 0.0001% ways of making a living complaining about trivial things as though they aren’t fortunate to be where they are and now where the vast majority of people are. Keeping proper perspective in life is crucial to staying grounded and crucial for remaining a good comic as well.
i honestly hadn't seen jimmy carr outside of his comedy work and tv but man knows his stuff about life. i wanna see more of that side
Joe's being extremely generous including himself as a stand up comedian...
Yeah he is one of those comedians that doesnt feel the need to make people laugh.
Coming from the CZcams comments guys. I bet he crying into his millions
@user-fl9xb7ef5f Well, you're most certainly not crying into millions 😂.
he has done more for comedy on lots of different levels and forms over 40 years then the vast majority of comedians out there. He knows he isnt the "best", but he's enough for him and for a lot of others. After all - he keeps you coming back to see him.
Joe was a below average comic. He really did find his way with podcast.
He just wasn’t funny
I love Joe as an interviewer. I have never once heard him say anything funny as a stand-up comedian.
Yeh I’m like you. I like everything he does apart from his stand up. 😆
Mr. Carr. All I can say is thank you. If I am fortunate one day to not only watch a live show but to be part of the interactivity. An absolute gem…to infinity please…
Jimmy a real one for this episode. I could have listened to this for 10 hours not 3, what a conversation.
this is better than most talks I've heard of people claiming they are serious scholars...not comedians. i've watched Jimmy's interview taken by Jordan Peterson and that was a shocker, the guy is brilliant
Who's brilliant? Carr or JP? 😂
@@reallivebluescat why would either of those be funny they’re both smart and if you disagree, your political beliefs are probably getting in the way takeoff the rose tinted glasses, my friend Jordan Peterson is a brilliant person. That’s been driven insane he’s got some great lectures,

I'm curious if his mention of the story of Cain and Abel was at all a result of his interview by Jordan.

That 'difference between ambition and entitlement' bit is some powerful stuff.
This is SO VERY HELPFUL to listen to. I'm very grateful.
Thanks for sharing!
Jimmy is very smart, and so brutal in a stand-up show 😂 Was great seeing him live years ago!
That's smart he was pushing the vaccine lol

Jimmy speaks with the analysis of a Cambridge University graduate. Glad his education did not go to waste.
His comment about how people in the biz need to have perspective and realize they get to do what they do for a living is a blessing on its own and that there’s people of all ages at home watching this podcast that have to get up everyday to work, and that he hopes and wishes everyone gets to fulfill their dreams of doing what they want in life really vibed with me. I’ve worked my whole life and I would be eternally grateful if I made a living playing music AND be genuinely happy for others that achieved the same thing. Life’s been shit lately and that helped a bit to hear that. Always loved jimmy C
Man I felt what Jimmy said about people who work, I been trying so hard to find time for art in my life of kids, family, and work
Hope you find a way to make time. It’s tough isn’t it? I’m 53 and wasted most of my life not trying to do the art and music I wanted. So make sure you don’t waste yours my friend.
I just have work and I don't have time for art.
I mean past a certain point, you cant just "find time" anymore, you have to make time, it might not be all the time in the world, but something is better than nothing.
Your kids and your family is your art. So is your work, even if others don’t see it that way.
Ive been an artist for 22 years. Every single day I think “oh shit I don’t know what im doing” but that’s what I love. Find something that holds your attention and start to dive in and if you have that obsessive artistic temperament you will find a never ending expanse that makes time and place irrelevant, so if you start now or 20 years ago the reward is the same. You haven’t missed your chance and age has no relevance
LOVE Jimmy and been watching him for 8+ years!! Epic to see him on JRE!!
Jimmy and the other comics on 8 out 10 cats show helped me when I was going through it back in 2021. One of my favorite comedians.
Same, watched him all throughout the 2020 lockdown and it made a tough time a bit better
I mean.. I was already a pretty big fan of Jimmy Carr before this podcast...but now?... my god man.. i love this guy now. What a breath of positive fresh air man
Again i thank you for having this delightful man on as a guest and not as an entertainer.
he is one of the men in the world i have yet to be disappointed by his intellect and personality..
bravo Joe!
Seen Jimmy live a few years back in bristol, he’s funny in the style of comedy he chooses. However I love this interview - a great speaker and very knowledgable!
I love how joe says "us" 🤣

I'm glad Mr Carr chose comedy. He's so intelligent he could have done anything.
The gentleman option "I'll write a book" 😅
This exchange reminds me of the quote from the movie Remember the Titans: “He’s a mile ahead of you, Coach.”

Great podcast. Which covered so much more than just discussing stand up

Jimmy Carr is hilarious but also incredibly smart..
He suffers from a very rare Carlin syndrome... Hicks had it, Stanhope too...
Dang Jimmy Carr is like a human Yoda... he's smart on such a fascinating level.. I knew he was very funny but never heard him actually have a conversation
Listen to Jimmy on Diary Of a CEO.
❤Jimmy Carr his CZcams channel gets me thru hard days.
Two of my most faves in one room… I’m living this dream and I don’t want to wake..!
To be content is one of the hardest things a human can do.
Especially a vain, self-absorbed and narcissistic individual like an artist in general, let alone a comic who lives for attention.
Peter Kay got a lot of jealousy when he was coming through.
Luckily however, peter kay found his calling in making automobile transmissions for porsche.
he would make a great teacher

Good interview snippet. Unfortunately comedy isn't the only place where people try to bring you down as seen if you scroll through the comments. Some really useful insights from Jimmy there and his off stage chats are always interesting.
I'm going to see Jimmy in 2 weeks for the first time
Interesting convo. Definitely agree with both of them on the hard work part and ambition.
Jimmy is one of the few very intelligent people in comedy today. Jamie bring up that video of that bear fighting Jimmy.
Most comedians are very intelligent way above normal levels
Jimmy’s got one hell of a jaw on him. He’s like a walking street caricature 😂
Jimmy is the best. Just a cool guy. Jealousy stems from your lack of doing. That's just it. Work harder to get to where someone else are.
Seen Jimmy live twice now here in the UK. Both times in Taunton where he's more or less testing the water with his material and poking fun at the local country folk (im from Bristol). First time i met him in person after the show and had a brief talk to him and got a hand shake etc. Lovely guy.
Joe thinking of himself as a comedian is ironically his funniest joke.

@@alanmurray5963I bet when you say “God bless” 90% of the time it’s just a reflex and you don’t even think about what you’re saying because it’s so commonly said. When someones sneezes and you say bless you, you just say it because its curtesy, even though the origin of the expression literally God bless you.
The best phrase to deal with any narcissist (which is fundamentally what this is about) is to always identify the point at which they say 'look what you made me do'. No one makes you do anything. You live by your own choices.
There are almost as many people on this planet where at several points in their life, your conclusion does not apply. It varies with individuals, but mostly by socio-economic factors that vary rather widely within and between geographic locations. You can draw the value of 'living by your own choices' along an axis with the endpoints of 'survival' at one extreme, and 'self-fulfillment' at the other. Some can do both, some neither.
@karl5173 talking specificallyabout narcissist behaviour where jealousy and envy trump. Not particularly the fact that people make others do something. Hierarchy exists in every job on earth.

Rogan considering himself a comedian is actually one of the funniest thing he can say.

I really don’t agree with jimmys analogies about Comedy being brand new and this is what it felt like in 1930s Jazz clubs… because there were comedians then, and there have been comedians forever, even before the jesters of medieval court. Comedy changes and the way a comedian perform changes, but it’s always been there. I agree that the percentage of people who actually do stand up is nothing, but it’s not new… there would’ve been a joke teller from the start of time. Every tribe would’ve had one.
Missing the point but go off.
Stand-up comedy is a relatively very new art form, it stems from minstrel shows in the 1800's. Whereas there have been rich and famous musicians, painters, authors, etc., for centuries. It's only in recent years that we have comedians who have rock-star levels of success.
The comments of when jimmy Carr first made this appearance has dramatically changed when people saw the clips, kudos to him for being so eloquent
Jimmy car is f….n awesome 😂😂😂
I love how Jimmy can at least attempt to tow the line between self determination and people being used and abused for the sake of their own survival
Roofed while starting a screen printing business for 5 years, ran the business for 14 years, covid axed it. Got a job in a doctors office making robotic arms for stroke victims, wasn't for me. Got a job in a saw mill, down 40 pounds and kinda like it. Still making some moves on the side, started studying baseball cards like its school for the last couple years. Jimmy looks like a Canadian in South Park.
The jealousy from other comedians towards Whitney Cummings when she blew up and her sitcom was being promoted was like nothing I've ever seen. They all had something nasty to say about her.
Well I don't find her much if at all funny, like her latest special with these years is unwatchable. So I do get like the sentiment of oh look, suprise that the hot woman is chosen before so many way better. Then again it was also there with Dane Cook when he became BIG, but then again he himself admits that he became unpleasant egomaniac at those times. Did anyone have anything to say when Chappelle, Louis C.K or Bill Burr blew up? Not really.
There is a lot in the field of stand-up the feelings of: "It should've been me." Still, then again, when there is A Lot of voices. There usually is also something else than Just jealousy in it.
Because she's not funny. Wonder how she got where she is?
