[…] Do I mean then that food sacrificed to an idol is anything, or that an idol is anything? No, but the sacrifices of pagans are offered to demons, not to God, and I do not want you to be participants with demons. You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons too; you cannot have a part in both the Lord’s table and the table of demons.” 3. Pagan Philosophies: • Colossians 2:8: “See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the elemental spiritual forces of this world rather than on Christ.”

It's been 3 years since I tried psychedelics like the psilocybin or DMT, can't find a plug anywhere in my area. Back then, We used one of those vaporizers with the big bags. Cause I personally have never had a bad experience with mushrooms though.
should be pretty clear... Jesus wanted us to have compassion for one another and ourselves... so that we could be closer to god who is the Almighty Ruler of all Creation and his name is love
This was likely from pagans who became Christian and didn't completely give up their pagan practices. We're specifically instructed in scripture over and over again to maintain a sober mind. Below are some examples. 1 Peter 5:8 - Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 1 Peter 1:13 - Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; Titus 2:12 - Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; 1 Peter 4:7 - But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer. 1 Timothy 3:2 - A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach; Titus 2:2 - That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience. Titus 2:6 - Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded. Ephesians 5:18 - And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
It's crazy back then what people back then were willing to give up to continue believing their faith. It is as if they cannot live without it, like the existential agony of existence, which religion alleviates, is more painful than torture for months or getting crucified to death is insane to think about.
For context early Christian Cults separated out from main stream due to Gnosticism. This is going to show you all kind of crazy variants of Christianity and definitely would fit the bill with psychedelic usage. Just because you see some examples does not mean this was the pattern or consistent rule of thumb for faithful churches following Jesus. But it sure is damn fun to listen to🤷🏻♂️😘✅🔔
Lucifer works quickly… gnosticism just reeks of the spirit of Lucifer, only way I can describe it succinctly. Don’t be fooled guys, Christ is the true light bringer
So one issue I am hearing. He is combining Christianity and Catholicism which are two totally different religions. Catholicism is strongly based in Idolatry and believing in things like purgatory where the dead are in a place of in-between but Christianity believes in a living god and that when your body dies you immediately go to your afterlife and there is no in-between. I was hoping for something solely focused on Christianity because combining them makes all this irrelevant.
It is fascinating to look into the history of psychedelic mushrooms. I did a few videos on this. There was an ancient cult centered around these mushrooms. On my channel, I review John Allegro's controversial book, "The Sacred Mushroom and the Cross", published in 1970. Allegro's book caused an outage among Christians with his theories regarding the red and white Amanita Muscaria mushroom. His work is intriguing and controversial.
No. I have a very small channel, and I only do videos to get the information out there for those who are interested. I was just disappointed that in this interview nothing was mentioned about psychedelic mushrooms.@@joshuagibson2520
The title might be a slight exaggeration and the guest admits as much...the frescos depict what appears to be some form of Greek/Pagan/Christian hyrbid ceremony rather than a depiction of some early form of pure Christianity.
Thank you! This is not Christianity at all, but instead, the beginning of catholic paganism and the Romans apostatization of Christianity into Roman Catholicism
@@MRios1128to say it’s “not Christianity at all” isn’t logical. What Christianity is or isn’t, at any given point, is a matter of debate and opinion. Also, Christianity borrowing from pagan or philosophical tradition, being influenced by it, would not necessarily make it false.
Not only that, this is from the 3RD century!! 200 years from the time of Christ. It is no secret pagan alternatives to Christianity rose. In 200+ years you'll get many different schools of thought.

The type of practices Brian is describing is well known among bible history scholars as pagan integration with early Christianity as per passages where St Paul condemns them like 1Cor8. I remember learning this stuff in high school. Still cool bit of history though.
I do feel like Joe Rogan has gone back to talking about psychedelics and the possibility of aliens. I miss all the fun topics, even though occasionally it's cool to really get to know a movie star.

They live in a highly competitive environment forcing them to capitalise. Goes to show you how rapid organism can evolve under certain conditions. Maybe mammals can do something similar. Kinda interesting
Yes these early variants of the core of Christianity were the many smaller gnostic christian cults popping up in the first century. They blended the mystery schools of Rome with Christianity
The loom has always been associated with fate. My interpretation is that there was an idea to have 11 friends of a recently deceased go underground with the body and get wasted one last time. Three days later the party ended and the men turned back to humans after being pigs due to intoxication
So you’re posititing about nightshade hallucinogens right? This is where the “underworld” archetype comes from after-all, not to mention the multi-day length trips as well.
@@Ryan88881 there is no mention of hallucinogens, was there? Knowledge was passed down in story form. Probably best to pass down an interesting story rather than a boring one. The Greek stories are probably the most entertaining and explained the world.
@@calamfischer7009 You said "get wasted" and of course hallucinogens (nightshades like belladonna) were mentioned in both Greek and Roman mythos so idk what you mean by "no mention". Are you talking about your own statement? Because 3 day-long trips, zoanthropy, catacomb-based rituals, etc... Nightshades are written all over this. Nobody even comes up with such ridiculous and lofty notions or ideas for something like *catacombs* without chthonic tropane-based nightshades being clearly linked to it. I think you've just gotten numb to preset bodies of traditions and lore and think humans just naturally start this weird ritual shit without psychoactives or influence from other societies/cultures that did. Well spoiler alert; they don't. "Probably best to pass down an interesting story rather than a boring one." Are you really saying what I think you're saying? Because ancient Greeks and Romans *not* using hallucinogens isn't even a real theory. We already know full-well they did use them. The "theoretical" part here is whether or not Mycenaean and/or ancient Roman occult rites were transferred to early Christians. Also passing down a story because it's interesting.... You're real cute lol. I've been researching world history for a while now, as well as mythopoetic etiology and.. that's just not how that works. This is totally an example of projecting modern-day norms/modalities onto ancient civilizations in the most ostentatious fashion possible. You realize the ancient Greco-Roman world was before even the Middle Ages right? Do you have any idea how people in theological/magico-religious circles conducted themselves back then?
@@calamfischer7009 Also I actually meant to say 'Hellenistic' rather than Mycenaean specifically here but it doesn't really matter because Mycenaean mythos/religion was the precursor to Hellenistic religion anyways, and the precursor for Mycenaean religion was Minoan religion from the island of Crete. And yes, the Minoans used drugs in rituals as well because back then that's what "ritual" basically meant well over 90% of the time. Not using that as the metric or justification here but just trying to put things into perspective for you. Also, for what it's worth mandrake is mentioned twice in the Bible itself but that's beside the point.
@@Ryan88881 I've never heard of belladonna being for pleasure. Great poison tho. Doesn't make sense to use an easy way to OD when they knew about ergot. I wasn't alive back then so I dont know the exact day to days of thier lives but they did leave behind some cool stories. I have a theory that they used Medusa to explain south america. Griffins to explain north america. Cerberus for Australia and new Zealand. Atlas for Antarctica. And that's just what makes sense at first look. If you can wrap your head around that. Cool stories... Lol Maybe chemically altered or knowledge is power and the best way to pass down knowledge was with stories. Considering we still know these stories even today. Not boring stories
Drug use was very common in the old world. The word assassin comes from a group of skilled killers in the 1100s. To cope with the lifestyle they used a lot of hash. They became known as the hashshshin because of their hash use. Eventually the word morphed into assassin.
Brian's the man, very interesting about Circe and the loom. Reminds me of the book of Genesis and Lamech's Daughter Naamah who invented weaving. Interesting connection.
I wonder if death is a way to describe someone tripping essentially. Tripping for many is described as dying and coming back. Can becoming a pig represent that too? Seeing the world as a species that is not as smart, which is how you feel on certain psychedelics like DMT. I'm reaching but I'm just thinking out loud. Dying to come back to life can describe a DMT trip of some sorts.
This guy is wrong about the institution of the Lord’s supper. It was instituted to remember the sacrifice of Jesus, it had nothing to do with remembering his resurrection.
3:11 what happened to this tradition? I would totally be into that and yes I am a Christian. Let's just to the morgue, drink psychedelic wine, and celebrate the ushering of the dead into the new life. I mean this is similar to early Halloween or Samhain. I'm bringing it back. These are my kind of people
That's a whole other thing. Samhain/Halloween is far more commensurate with the tropes of nightshade hallucinogens (natural deliriants) not psychedelics. At best it could be viewed as a healthy composite of both but the real 'magical', witchy, chthonic, ghostly and daemonic (not demonic) stuff comes from the nightshade realms.
@@jesseknox9322 Yeah basically to sum it up: Nightshades: Witchcraft/Sorcery/Malice Psychedelics: Shamanism/Spirituality/Gnosis Granted I'm oversimplifying and nightshades are still big in shamanism and psychedelics have strangely enough been used for sorcery in the Americas but that's basically what it comes down to. Daemonic in this sense just meaning of a "lesser divinity". Sort of a formidable demigod. Reflective of "daemons" in Greco-Roman world rather than in Christianity. Nothing really to do with Hell or purgatory or Lucifer, rather just "the underworld" and they're somewhat like what Gnostics would refer to as the "demiurge". They're associated with ghosts and "creatures" of the underworld but this predates and goes far beyond the very specific meaning this has in Christian mythos/theology. I've done both and mushrooms takes you to "hyperspace" which is more divine and heavenly and cosmic. Datura (and other nightshades) take you to the underworld though and it doesn't come off as cosmic, but not necessarily terrestrial either. But it feels closer to the terrestrial realm if that makes any sense and it's a pretty plant-oriented vibe and it's very much so about malice and self-interest and cunningness and plants, poisons, herbal concoctions, conjuring, necromancy, water, rainfall, moonlight, sacrality, blood, creatures, daemons, ghosts, magic and sorcery, power, etc. It was actually quite lofty and fantastical. No sense of altruism but there was hints of asceticism but in the sense of ordeal and balefulness. Dementia, madness and sundowning.
I started to read this book about two weeks ago during the San Pedro ceremony and reading the first chapter by Otto‘s Huxley in his experience with masculine riding the doors of perception I was over come with emotion and the NFL wall connection to our divine feeling of love and unity. Thank you so much for putting all your hard work to get this very relevant and hard to swallow information for a lot of religious zealots and people more concerned with control than enlightenment but the powers have been set free and thank you so much for continuing your exploration of the divine with natural medicines. #houseoflovingawareness

Paul’s ideology of Christianity is no different.
Correct. Paul the Apostle was almost definitely addressing these practices in this video.
There are always ofshoots in the beginning of religion that mix and do their own thing.

I remember floating above the country side flying and then all of a sudden I zoomed down into a deer and went right inside of it and I was the veins and the blood and flowing through this deers body. It was very strange lol
Strongly recommend just sticking to shrooms if you want an hallucinogenic experience. I was given “DMT" one time by someone I trusted (at the time) and it turned out too intense that the trip lasted for 24 hours. Can't really be sure what you're getting aside from shrooms. Cause I personally have never had a bad experience with mushrooms though.

This was likely from pagans who became Christian and didn't completely give up their pagan practices. We're specifically instructed in scripture over and over again to maintain a sober mind. Below are some examples.
1 Peter 5:8 - Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
1 Peter 1:13 - Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
Titus 2:12 - Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world;
1 Peter 4:7 - But the end of all things is at hand: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.
1 Timothy 3:2 - A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;
Titus 2:2 - That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience.
Titus 2:6 - Young men likewise exhort to be sober minded.
Ephesians 5:18 - And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
Well clearly the mainstream one today aren't all that perfect and pretty much pointless

Excited to listen to this full episode. Really liked his episode last time.

"Probably best to pass down an interesting story rather than a boring one."
Are you really saying what I think you're saying?
Lol
Maybe chemically altered or knowledge is power and the best way to pass down knowledge was with stories.
That's not true. lol, assassins were originally called hashashim, but that's also just derogatory slang for potheads
Ah, it makes sense why the hash slinging slasher is called this then.
Wow this is fascinating stuff! Very interesting guest

3:11 what happened to this tradition? I would totally be into that and yes I am a Christian. Let's just to the morgue, drink psychedelic wine, and celebrate the ushering of the dead into the new life. I mean this is similar to early Halloween or Samhain.
I'm bringing it back. These are my kind of people
Sorry to say but real Christian’s don’t glorify this type of stuff.
@@StartupHustleHub Don't glorify history? You just really set yourself up for that one lol
@Ryan88881 oh that's interesting. Nightshade realms. I'll have to explore that and the difference between demonic and daemonic
@@jesseknox9322 Yeah basically to sum it up:
Nightshades: Witchcraft/Sorcery/Malice
Psychedelics: Shamanism/Spirituality/Gnosis
Granted I'm oversimplifying and nightshades are still big in shamanism and psychedelics have strangely enough been used for sorcery in the Americas but that's basically what it comes down to.

Its probably not wine. Its probably a pschedelic drink, psilocybin or ayahuasca or something.
Or it could be wine spiked with potent psychedelics. Either mushrooms, DMT, a deliriant like nightshade, or some other psychedelic in the ancient pharmacopeia lost to time.
I’m pretty sure “wine” back then half or more of the time had other herbs or substances in it.
