Toyota GR Yaris, although no-one excepted that car to come, it's just the best WRC inspired car of last two decades, also one of the best of all times.
Yes, sort of. The regulations don’t require homologation specials anymore, so the GR Yaris doesn’t quite count.
@@rallybeastbut its the most similar thing to a rally car you can buy brand new
You just forgot about the "GROUP B CHAMPION" which, as you say, is the golden age of rallying:
It is called PEUGEOT 205 TURBO 16"
But also the RUNNER-UP: LANCIA DELTA S4.
Major oversights...
Those who should be the 2 icons of the World Rally Championship
As rally cars, yes. But as the road-going versions, they aren’t nearly as popular.
@@rallybeast Both models, 200 units required by regulations for their homologation for competition as Group B were produced, just like the Lancia 037 or the Ford RS200, exactly the same.
What's more, Lancia Delta S4 does it doubt that the aforementioned number will be sold, but the Peugeot is sure to be out there, at exorbitant prices of course, for a simple matter of limited number of copies.
By the way, the Audi, if we read the Group B Regulations, we will see that it is more of a Group A, due to the desire of Mr. Piëch to create a car like the road cars, and that was the reason why it was not competitive in the last years. Its mechanical configuration with a very uneven weight distribution between the front and rear axles made its dynamic behavior a serious handicap in terms of agility in corners, especially in the slow ones, even despite its superior power (with almost 400 cm3 more than cylinder capacity let's not forget), being clearly surpassed by the Peugeot and the Lancia in 1986 season.
Also from Group 4. Mini Cooper S, Escort RS 1800, Chevette HS / HSR (I had one) there is some dispute 400 of each were built. Opel Ascona / Manta 400's. Talbot Sunbeam Lotus and more.
WHY NO MENTIONING OF LANCIA STRATOS WHICH STARTED THE CONCEPT OF BUILING RALLY RACING CARS FIRST AND HOMOLOGATE JUST TO FULFILL THE REQUIREMENT?
Great video man! The only thing I would change: instead of the Escort RS I would put the Renault 5 Turbo, I have nothing but extreme respect for that car...
That’s fair! The Renault is also a fantastic car. It was a difficult list to put together with so many good ones out there.
Also the Kit Maxi cars from Renault, Peugeot and Citroen that shamed the 4wd turbo's on asphalt until banned by FIA.
Respect for Mitsubishi for going up with homologation car against wrc prototypes and winning. Evo 6 was my dream car when I was a kid. It pains me to see what happened to the brand.
I think it hurt every car enthusiast's heart to see what happened to them!
love your videoss
Glad you like them!
Solid list, but the Stratos, should’ve at least gotten an honorable mention 🙌 Long live, the Wedge
That is a good one!
I think the term homologation special means a car build ground up from scratch so it's race version had the upper hand, while many road models were homologated for racing. Nice video, but where are S4 or Stratos o.O
Those definitely crossed my mind along with so many others. It was difficult to create the list, but it was mostly based on public popularity. Thanks for the input!
GC8 BABY 🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🤘
🚗💨🙌🙌🙌
cool
Glad you think so!
the Lancia Stratos
Ngl vw polo r wrc is best
Good daily strong chassis (it jumped of a flyover at a hirght of 3 floors and the passenger were fine)
And has a golf r’s 2.0 not the 1.8 so it is more tuneable
Citroen Xsara should have been on list. Last 2wd car (Xsara Kit Car) to win WRC rally over 4wd cars in 1999 Tour de Corse.
Not nearly as popular with the public’s as the rest of these.
@@rallybeast True but it's awesome 2wd rally car.
I agree as far as the Citroen Xsara is an extremely capable and beautiful car. But F2 Kit Cars, as the name "Kit Car" implements don't require a homologation special road car. The base would be the Xsara VTS with 167BHP, again a beautiful and capable car, but I wouldn't call it a homologation special.
Evo fan any day
Great cars! Sad to see them gone.
where is the 205 T16 ????
🤷♂️
I thought the last rwd car to win a wrc event is the group B Lancia 037
That was the one to win a championship.
@@rallybeast oh okay , so the m3 is the last rwd to win a rally event and the 037 was the last one to win a championship wish was a manufacturers title if I'm not mistaken
toyota twin cam turbo, 1986 safari
@@kimo_car_stories The Sierra Cosworth was the last RWD car to win a WRC event.
Subie gang all day baby
Greatness 🔵✨
I purchased an Audi quattro based on the WRC car, it was a great car to drive and the women loved it. I've owned Audis ever since and still own the Quattro but only use it on the track today. But I still dislike the electric versions available by any manufacturer, mainly due to the time they take to charge up on a long journey, they look ok but not all are the same some are stupid in weight and handling in bends. Fr as log as fuel is available I will drive fossil fuelled cars and avoid electric ones.
Gotta do it for the ladies, right?😉
😂😂😂 célica top 3, better then delta? Delta is The most winner of the history and the road version is a best car to drive in a road. Sorry for my bad English.
To each their own!
its an opinion mate....... and my opinion is that the GT4 is a better 'homologation' car than the delta, lots of trick rally things on it like anti lag, water injection..... WTA charge coolers..... on a road car..... in 92...... as for the rally, once toyota got on there game, lancia were no more, king Carlos couldnt buy a win in one....... still.... i luuuuuuvs the delta, i just think the celica was a better car.......and im totally not bias because i own 3x GT4 homologation celicas hahaahahahahahahaha ;)
Lost me at E30. Stick to NASCAR Merica.
Nah, we like rally too much.
@@rallybeast That's great, and I apologies for being negative, your video skydived into my feed and I was expecting a great list! Many cars featured were not homologation cars nore successful or even great, so I got triggered. Good on you for making a video and giving it a go!
