Problems with Drugs and Crime in Kensington Ave, Philadelphia
In Philadelphia as a whole, violent crime and drug abuse are major issues. The city has a higher rate of violent crime than the national average and other similarly sized metropolitan areas. The drug overdose rate in Philadelphia is also concerning. Between 2013 and 2015, the number of drug overdose deaths in the city increased by 50%, with more than twice as many deaths from overdoses as homicides. 2 Kensington's high crime rate and drug abuse contribute significantly to Philadelphia's problems.
Because of the high number of drugs in the neighborhood, Kensington has the third-highest drug crime rate by neighborhood in Philadelphia, at 3.57. The opioid epidemic has played a significant role in this problem, as it has in much of the rest of the country. Opioid abuse has skyrocketed in the United States over the last two decades, and Philadelphia is no exception. In addition to having a high rate of drug overdose deaths, 80% of Philadelphia's overdose deaths involved opioids, and Kensington is a significant contributor to this figure. This Philadelphia neighborhood is said to have the largest open-air heroin market on the East Coast, with many neighbors migrating to the area for heroin and other opioids. With such a high concentration of drugs in Kensington, many state and local officials have focused on the neighborhood in an attempt to address Philadelphia's problem.

Your new addiction must be, exercise and healthy food: than you know even more what you are (not) missing. Never forget there is always a relapse danger.
@sjaakzwart6001 Yes, there is!!! And it's a phone call, txt, msg, away! It is frightening the SPEED at which I could have DOC again..... That was black tar heroin. Now it's that Fentynal analogs and Etazalam crap?!? A relapse nowadays is almost a certain FATAL OVERDOSE!!!

@jpd64 Wow, Camden is not a place I would like to visit, let alone live. But hey, I get "home is where home is." Some of these places around the US look something akin to a zombie apocalypse, but for real tho. So Denver is really having a problem too, encampment all over and now some approaching the burbs. The town just north of us which is def "ANY TOWN USA" now has vagrants, beggers, sign flyers n such. Junkies roaming around or just passing thru. It's fairly affluent and was considered back in the late 90s and early 2000s one of the best places in CO and even the nation to raise a fam... But it's looking a little more run down at times everyday. Still amazing growth, but I fear if we as a nation and society don't get ourselves turned around shortly, we are all gonners, it's just a matter of how much sand is left at the top of the hour glass ⌛️....

It's hard obviously. But the remaining hard working people nearby are in Port Richmond or Tacony or Bridesburg or Frankford. They're not in Kensington.

I agree. This is so tragic to watch. The other side of this, is the greed of the dealers. It goes a long way back in Philly: From Angelo Bruno, and his people like Caponegro (Perhaps the most treacherous ass-hole of all!) And don't forget his hunchback, and then to his Long John, & the Chicken-man. Don't forget "Chickie soup", and his dynamite surprise, which caused Phils demise.. . . Salvie took care of that. Then, came Scarfo and his gangsters. And they: set the record straight, and sent it off the Richter scale of death and baaaaad Kharma. (and this, was his un-doing, deservedly so)
Much later.. . . then to Stanfa, then to Ralphie, then to Merlino & crew. The list goes on and then it stops. All the above made boatloads of cash, feeding off these tragic people, and their tragic lives. I pray for their recovery & peace, and good health.

I live in Holland: NOBODY USES HEROIN OVER HERE; let alone tranq or fenny. I always learned YOU DO NOT WANT TO KNOW HOW GOOD HEROIN IS. I heard the first time can be so good; you wil chase that high for the rest of your life. I only smoke weed; and snort some cocain tommorrow; going to an old-style (house)-festival; knowing the dangers of coke...(coke is also dangerous for addiction; but I know myself: I think it's a waste of money, sleep and my nose)
It’s sad? I see police in the area but, there not stopping to dealers or doing anything to stop all this madness that is spreading through out the United States. The guy in the red truck was probably a dealer. And the city could at least run a street sweeper up and down the roads and and put people to work cleaning that area up.
This not only makes me sick to see but it infuriates me.

Childhood trauma its like peeling back the layers of an onion,one only has to listen to other you tubers who take the time to listen to these peoples srories....plus,from listening to said srories one gets the impression that they would rather do anything to get these new drugs than go cold turkey as there is nothing that can be given to them,such as methadone to stop the excruciating withdrawal symptons ....such sadness...healthy,happy loved children build the future

Watching SBC news, one would be lead to believe this a female problem. Your crew seems to follow and film the most attractive women they can find in this sad environment. I’m so sick and tired of hearing these junkies say they shoot drugs because of past problems!! Doing drugs is a choice, and shooting animal tranquilizers in your body is just insane!! How and why am I or anyone else supposed to feel sorry for these people?? They are in that area because drugs are easily available. No one is helping when you give them money, food , clothing, needles and pipes . All you’re doing is making it easy for them to choose to stay . They aren’t going to change. They’re junkies!!!
