I love my IconX 2018! The battery improved a ton.
They sound better with a samsung phone, and you have to get into the equalizer for the best sound for you. If you don't stream the music, and use the music stored in the buds, they get MUCH MUCH louder and sound amazing to me.

I really like this format. It's both informative and highly entertaining.
The Versus series is definitely my favorite set of videos for tech comparisons. Lauren is doing an amazing job keeping it funny, informative, and somehow brief.

Lauren, very clever way of doing comparison reviews! Most of the reviews are so obnoxious with a mixture of unnecessary talk and not enough info for a review. However, yours is fun, short and direct to the point!

I miss this series so much.
Personally I'd prefer the Bose because of how comfortable they are (my experience is based on the soundsport wireless ). Not being in ear is also a huge plus in that regard.
Also the sound quality is amazing
teyzfootball I had soundsport wireless, they got stolen....picked up Jaybird Runs and WOW the sound quality is incredible! I thought my Bose were pretty good, but you just do not know until you try something else. The Jaybird tuning app makes the sound come alive and customizable.
Fun to watch even when your not interested in the devices. I only buy cheap headphones after a few didn't fit my ear and kept dropping, I'm not taking that chance again. A good fit is a good start, everything else is second.
If you want to look like Shrek in the public, get Bose !

I don't know if they're identical twins or if this is just made incredibly well and at this point I'm too afraid to ask.
I think it's Lauren on both sides. It's just clever editing and good acting to simulate two twins talking to each other

I bought the Bose and for me, they have a great fit and I love the sound. I think the recommendation depends on the person reviewing it because I really just care about the size and fitment in the ears, thats why I chose Bose but I can see why alot of people would rather buy the IconX
Bose fits me great. Make sure you follow directions using the wings in the correct ear folds.
I’m still intrigued as to how they pull that style off
I have to strongly agree with the Bose sound sport i was really upset with how they fit my ear, i was so excited to to get them and use them base on the fact that i know the qulity sound that i would get with my music but it fail. I am super happy that you guys make video and give a true indept brake down on these brake.

Agreed. You look even more stupid wearing these Bose wireless buds than you do wearing airpods.. if that’s even possible
I thought they'd be fine and the camera just made them look huge until I act I actually saw them in person and holy crap, they're a lot bigger than I expected. Big problem with both Bose and apple is the haven't figured out a way to do wireless headphones with a low profile that just look like earbuds and don't draw any attention. Something Samsung solved from even the first iteration of icon X. Then again maybe people want the attention, I don't know why they would, I'd rather prefer if my headphones did not make me look ridiculous or really draw any attention

It was a bit funny when one of her said that audio snobs would prefer the Bose earbuds, since Bose has a reputation among audio snobs for being the Monster cable of the audio world, based on their meh sounding set top stereos aimed at seniors. I've never checked out their headphones and earbuds because of that, but I can easily believe these have better sound quality than the Samsung buds or than Apple's Airpods.

Truly great review. Right on all Points. I recently bought myself the Bose and luckily they fit me perfect right out of the box. And boy o boy is the sound quality understated! These sound amazing. The balancing on these is very very similar to my QC35's if not identical. Exceptional Truly (if they fit your budget and ears).
even better compared twins video a year ago, more natural and frequent interactions. love them. maybe just like 2x lauren.
The problem that I have with the Bose is that you can only take calls with the right ear bud. I am left handed and use my left ear more than my right but with the Icon X I can use both ears or just the left one if I choose. That was one of my big factors for going the the Icon X 2018.

The Gear iconX's actually came out before the AirPods they did not "Catch up" like it was said in the video.
You forgot something important, the range, how far away can you walk from your phone without loosing the signal
I thought the AirPods looked bad, but now I’m thinking otherwise after seeing those Bose earbuds.

You guys, yes both of you, should check out Jabra Elite Active 65T. They are AWESOME. I own about 8 diff sets of truly wireless units and the Jabra are best all around. Sound, battery, fit, the app, phone call quality, they are the best. Great.

A big problem with the Bose (and the Samsungs as well, to some extent) for me is that they simply don’t look like traditional headphones like the AirPods. It kind of looks weird to me, especially the Bose look super weird. I much prefer the „Hey look I cut the cable off my headphones“-look the AirPods have. Excited to see how this segment will develop.
Took me 20seconds just to realize that it is just one lady who made me consider buying IconX2018 this coming payday! 😊

I found TaoTronic earbuds for $30 on Amazon and they have decent sound quality. I've had them for 2 years and can still get 4-6 hours of battery. If your spending over a $100 for earbuds, most of that is brand markup.

I almost bought the 2018 IconX earbuds but I ended up getting the CKCOM Alien e10 wireless earbuds. For $89 its better than I expected.

Not sure about the strong bluetooth connection in the Bose earbuds. They drop up even if people pass by. They did an firmware update, but did not help.
If you're a big guy, the look and fit of the bose are ok. But the sound.. Great! And afterall you use headphones for listening? Or for the looks...

You forgot to mention if you play the music from the Icon X 2018 on board memory instead of your phone, you get 2 additional hours. Making a total of 7hours. The longest lasting wireless headphone

I own the Bose, and every time I watch a vid like this one I think aaag all of it's competitors have more features to them... but then I hit the play and remember mines sound 5 times better and I forget about everything else. And they actually fit me perfectly so they look awesome and bc of the wings they never fall out, not even skiing

I love my Bose Free, didn’t let looks be a factor. I wanted the best sound and volume. Bose does one thing well and that’s sound, hands down. Yes they are basic without lots of features. Do you want lots of features from your earbuds or just good sound? There’s the deciding factor. Great information video though. Lots of strong points on both ends. 👍🏼
What about reliability? I still have every bose product I own, to include headphones. Can't said that about the IconX, had to return my pair within the first two months, because the left ear bud stop working.
Lauren was slightly biased and this should have been a apple vs. other battle, but I still loved it! I NEED MORE VERSUS VIDEOS IN MAY LIFE!!!!

I had the gear icons 2017 when I had an iPhone and I still thought they were outstanding.
Amazing sound, good/responsive but annoying controls, excellent fit, bulletproof Bluetooth connection and they even looked good.
I even thought the battery life was good - I never used them for more than 90 mins in a single stretch, and even the 10-20 mins they’d have to charge in between sessions was enough to give me the blissful illusion of amazing endurance.
What I did hate is that their durability track record was poor and that if you left them alone for 2 to 3 days, you would come back and they’d be dead.
Great first effort - but ultimately I returned them out of fear something would go wrong or that I’d fall out of love.
I've had good experience with Bose but I wanted to get the Sony because I was thinking about upgrading to a Samsung sometime in the future. They are amazing!!
