    Most people wake up in the morning not being ultra-liberal or ultra-conservative. They just want a good job, a safe town, a good school for their kids, and a bit of hope for the future. Politicians seem to miss all that.

    • @W81Researcher
      @W81Researcher Před 4 měsíci

      But some of us want distinguishment and respect as well. You won't get respect if you disrespect yourself. It's sad that some states and a bunch of overachieving kids with two parents are making it seem like struggling in school is bad. School is supposed to be hard.

      Spoken like someone who already has those things. It's not just about you, your town, and your kids. It's about making this country a better place for everyone, including the environment.
      Making it about "me and mine" is exactly why this country, and world, is so messed up in the first place. We don't need anymore squishy, self absorbed, low stakes moderates. We need people who care about others, not just themselves.

      You are talking pre-2000 era politics. That ship sailed long ago. Bush and his stolen election (thanks to his brother as governor in Florida and its dirty politics and the right wing Supreme Court picking the president) had destroyed the art of political gamesmanship of "gentlemanly negotiation." Then Trump came along and obliterated what was left entirely. When authoritarianism and fascism enter the game, you cannot play by normal rules. Recall that pre-WW2, many countries tried to "negotiate" with Hitler too. How did that go for them? Easy question if you know anything about history.

Desantis' term will end Jan 5 of 2027, so if he announces his run on that date he'll have about 22 months to campaign, perfect timing really. The way I see it he's kind of become the GOP's insurance policy, and he should just stay out of Trump's way so that he won't get shot down by Trump in this election cycle or shot down with Trump if Trump's administration gets torpedoed by the swamp again. The mid-1800's and early 1900's had a few, but most were governorships or Mayor's, a few state representatives. Still they never held a majority and most were scattered across party lines (not just the Republicans and the Democrats, but also the Socialist, People's Party, Progressive Party, etc.). Not all of them were driven by the same ideology, but common interests.
      WW2 and McCarthyism/Red Scare pretty much ended most of that representation, and new factions coalesced. By the '70's and '80's most of the gains made during the New Deal/Trust Busting era was being overturned.

      @@Real_Life_Is_More_Important Yes. And on the other side, it's that left liberal assh**e, Jimmie Kimmel. I used to like him, years ago, but once he started being obsessed with trashing Trump and becoming a woke idiot and a Democrat puppet, he started to disgust me.
      If Trump had dementia and was falling down and forgetting his words and saying nonsense like that sad man Biden, Kimmel would laugh at him all the time. But since Biden is doing it, nope, no comment.
      And another example, before Biden, every time there was a school shooting, Kimmel was crying and making speeches that this this has to stop and all that. But when last March there was that school shooting in Nashville and the shooter was a TRANS person...zip. Mum's the word. Nothing. He didn't even mention it. Like it didn't happen. (At least the other left puppet, Stephen Colbert, did mention it, but he didn't make a big deal about it. He would if the shooter was a redneck though.).
      Total leftist hypocritical garbage. Exactly the opposite of Maher and Morgan, who speak the logical truth, and only that. And it pains the leftists. Because they make sense.

Basically if you stick a rainbow on Big Pharma and DEI on Big Business, suddenly the Left is all for these giant conglomerates, the left is all for NAFTA/TPP now, it's shocking how complete the corporate takeover of the Democrats has been. A Governor punishing Disney for LGBTQ would be a 1990's-2000's Democrat position, Bill Clinton signed the ban on gay marriage (DOMA) and Joe Biden himself was against LGBTQ up until 2010. The Democrat party was against big corporations and against LGBTQ up until 2012, I think the Libertarian/Ron Paul corporatist wing of the GOP (socially liberal/business "conservatives" for low taxes) must have joined the Democrats alongside the Neocons who switched to Democrats (Bush/Cheney types) in 2016. The Democrat party is essentially a weird LGBTQ Neocon Corporatist party. It's really sickening. So many people haven't woken up to that fact. As long as we paint a rainbow flag on the cluster bombs being dropped on Iraq, then Democrats are all for it now. BUT, his policies have been spot on and he is the ONLY one who has stood his ground and pushed for the policies he promised as a candidate. Bush let us down (both of them) and we see it in our leadership in Congress. No spine or will for the fight. And that is why I would vote for him regardless of whatever crimes the left want to gin up against him. We vote the issues, not the person. Jimmy Carter was a very nice man.
