  • Mactan Island, Cebu, the Philippines has something for almost everyone. Beaches, resorts, condos, house subdivisions, mall, hospitals, and more. It is located just across the bridges from Cebu City, Cebu. Cost of living can be lower than the bigger city of Cebu City.

    Great video Rod, Mactan is expanding fast now, and that was a good look around. I enjoyed Lapu Lapu market earlier this year, but didn’t know about the V Hire vans to get back to Cebu City, so thanks for that info. I’ll also try your tip of the ferry option there and back also. Good info as always.

      Thanks Brian. I was surprised at how many Vhires were traversing the island going back to SM or Ayala or other terminals. There are 2 ferry ports on Mactan to Cebu City Pier 3. One is in the south near the market I think and the other is in the north near the Cebu Yacht Club.

    Rod, I think you ought to be an information specialist for all over Cebu your lady friend could act as the manager and you would have to get a work permit but then you could sit in the office and charge a fee and answer questions or tell people where they can find housing, condos etc you would be excellent for that. another great video on your end again.

    Wow Rod, thanks for the update on Mactan. Looks like Cebu City is fast creeping out and becoming the next "Manila National Capitol Region". Hopefully they'll do some planning and keep it from becoming the same polluted, transportation nightmare Manila became. Any talk of one of those future bridges accommodating light rail?

    • @AmazingPhilippines1
      @AmazingPhilippines1  Před 4 lety

      Thanks Dan. There is a 4th bridge being talked about seriously that might also include rail for freight and passengers so we will see what happens in the coming year.

  • @johloz
    @johloz Před 4 lety +2

    Hey Phil, my viewers are saying the big downside of Mactan island is overcrowding. So when you say the cost is cheaper there might not be true in the near future especially when new condos and new bridges are built to connect to the main island. My viewers also mentioned a 4th bridge is planned to connect the island to Bohol. Phil we are counting on your information to help plan places to live in Pinas. Please keep in mind what is anticipated in the future of locations you are covering and include that info in your report to help our viewers. I tell my clients and viewers to visit your site for information so we are counting on your reports to be 98% accurate.

    • @AmazingPhilippines1
      @AmazingPhilippines1  Před 4 lety +1

      Thanks John Lo. There is just talk of a 4th bridge at this point and may include a rail line also. The island is being transformed with all of the new large investments in resorts, condos, and the new International Air Terminal. This was just an introduction and I don't have all of the data to project too far into the future but my information is that the price of condos is going up rapidly there.

    Is Newtown Beach anywhere near the Movenpick resort Rod do you know? I went to that resort for a day and the beach was amazing and while i never stayed at the resort I was lucky enough to have a look around and it looked fantastic. I have to say I only spent a day in Mactan and really liked it there 🙂👍

    • @AmazingPhilippines1
      @AmazingPhilippines1  Před 4 lety

      Thanks Pete. Movenpick isn't very far from Mactown Newtown Beach area. One can usually get into these resorts by saying you are going to the restaurant instead of the day pass route.

      Thanks Rod. I remember going through Newtown on the way to Movenpick. We had a taxi driver who was our guide for the day and he actually did some fast talking and got us in there for free for the day. Don't know exactly how he did it. But if we wanted food we had to pay for that 🙂

  • @robertkubrick3738

    I think it depends on the person where they would be better off living. If you want the fast pace, Cebu would be better I believe, even if it cost 10%-15% more. I'm betting a house on a lot would be either larger OR cheaper on Mactan. Value for money. If you need something from the big malls? The occasional trip isn't that bad if planned. My going to the airport twice a year would be much simplified, as would going to Manila if you really need the largest market in the country. HK too, once things settle down there. I also promised my girl I would take her to KL.

    • @AmazingPhilippines1
      @AmazingPhilippines1  Před 3 lety

      I like Bohol and Tagbilaran City. It has several smaller malls but most of what you would need. Panglao Island has the international airport now and a 2 hour ferry ride to Cebu. Cebu and Mactan offer larger malls. Mactan has beaches on the west side but any white sand has been shipped in and privately owned by resorts with a day use cost. Cebu City has the better hospitals if that is a concern. You might give Bohol a try first. El Nido is primarily a tourist area and electric can be an issue I have heard.

    the Jetski for an hr is 3500php ($60) that's expensive! Also for daily pass at a hotel's beach with food included also about the same price? It seems to me that Mactan is not inexpensive.

    I watched your previous video and made comments, anyhow if you think the language helps to smooth out the relationship then let me know, i certainly can write Cebuano - bisaya right here on your channel such as phrases, expressions, etc. Advanced level is my cup of tea since there are tons of videos out there available in internet. And you can always delete my comments if you find less value in general.
    In Cebuano, Manoy or Noy = is the name to call you to show respect...ug segi Noy = goodbye sir.

      Thanks. I have written those words down and slowly learning. My hearing of sounds is not so accurate so trying to speak a word I don't clearly hear is a challenge for me. I am slowly recognizing words as I hear them but many speak so quickly that it is difficult to separate words.

    • @olalamuybien2129
      @olalamuybien2129 Před 4 lety

      @@AmazingPhilippines1 ...having conversation is the best way to learn a language Recognizing the sound can be figured by gesture.
      for example;
      you only need to hear one of these or first word, dali na / tana / segi na = it means come on, let's go, ..., segi pa = more/ continue.
      Ask them to speak slowly = hinaya pagsulti . .
      One or two words w/ your English and gradual bits and pieces.
      Okay, you very much know all the greetings, why not add like...unsa na after maayong hapon.
      Maayong gabii, unsa na = good evening, how's it going......segi adto na ko = i have to go / okay i'm going.......o/or just, segi = bye / okay.
