Good Luck!!!
I also use a 14” Ox to lay on, then use a 800mm spatula to flatten down, also use a Refina super flex 2 trowel for troweling up the 2nd coat, then use a valles plastic plastering trowel at the end for a perfect finish. Refina Plaziflex trowels are good as well.
Great content guys. You deserve more views.
Thanks mate👍 hopefully one day
Ox trowels are really good wot do you think of the refina trowels and I recommend you try the refina spatula game changer
Could you do a video on, wet to wet angles. What twitcher is best to use, timing etc.., also best way to get wall level using bonding. Great content 👍🏼.
Marshalltown steel and nela flexi👍👍
Currently using a nela but would be good to compare
My comment/question is when am I going to get my trowels, forget these other people???
How long have you boys been plastering for and what made you pick plastering as a job?
Hi guys done had a few attempts at plastering and got the bug ive just boarded a lath n plaster ceiling I found it difficult to find the joists because of all the small slats its probably really simple for you pros to find them any tips would be helpful for the future thanks for the vids you guys are uploading really knowledgeable that's why I had a go at my ceiling after watching your video 1man ceiling overboard job
What tool has been the biggest gamechanger for you two? Mine is the speedskim, it allows me to get control quicker when putting bigger areas on.
What's the best way to sort out uneven plastered surfaces that's been plastered directly onto concrete walls in an old council house?
Great bit of kit lads good luck to everyone. It be nice if it was me. And a quick question lads what the best way of using a speedskim on a pole??
Hi guys, I'd love some tips on how to tackle larger areas? I personally struggle to get more than a bag on at once...
Keep up the good work!
P.S, would love to win these trowels!
My advice is is to get yourself a plastering spatula, so you can flatten down your work quicker. Amazon & plastering one stop shop online sell them.
hi guys hope your keeping well , which is your go to on re skim over old plaster for suction control if pva what ratio or feb etc .
kind regards Simon
Alright lads, aside from fancy, expensive trowels, what's one of the lesser glorified tools you find really help with plastering? For example, I always recommend using a radiator brush, it's only a couple of quid and the thinner brush makes it great for brushing in soft angles and edges to make them neater.
What's the biggest batch youv ever mixed at the one time?
I live in western Canada, and plastering is not seen around here. We do stucco and just drywall taping. I have done 20 years of stucco but I would love to get into plastering, especially venitian plaster. The problem I'm having is that it is difficult to get the mud here. What is the difference between taping mud and the mud you use? Are there any ideas you can give me? Maybe suggestion on how to make my own lime mud from slack lime (even that is hard to get here)?
Does the standard stainless trowel have a permashape style curve on the blade? Good looking trowels but not had the opportunity to use any ox trowels yet....
Any tips for applying parge coat? Soundcoat plus etc
what is your favourite trowel make?
Hi lads how do you rate dry lining to traditional plastering , maybe even on just big ceilings , just thinking from a health point of view as you probably know big ceilings take a lot out of you and can put a lot of stress on the rotator cuff area , interested to know what you think thanks 🙏
Cool idea lads.
My question would be, as you seem to cover most aspects of plastering, what is your favourite aspect to do and why?
Liked and subbed 👍
Yo yo ! What are your thoughts on battery 🔋 powered mixers 🤔
Ragni and tyzack are lovely trowls too!
How did you get into the plastering trade? And do you think the trade has got better over time?
Hi Chaps, been plastering on a few diy jobs around the house. I seem to get tiger stripes in some places but mostly it looks ok. Why do I keep getting tiger stripes? I notice mainly at the bottom of a wall...
Mainly trying to trowel up too early, don’t wet the skim till it’s firming up properly and never when your flattening for the new lads having a go
Whats your favourite brand of mixer
Hey guys. Can you do more videos with advise on external renders?
What is the best Ox Speedskim? Blade & size.
Once I win these trowels, what’s the best way to wear them in before I start using them for skimming/rendering?
Thoughts on flattening wall with the ox speed skims?
what trowel did you both learn with? would be good to see you trowel off with Ox then MT to see if you differ.
Hi guys been following for a while now so thanks for the videos just starting a new job as a plasterer/multitrade as I lost my business due to covid whats your advice for every one that may have been affected by it all
Neat video, grabbed my attention as I too find the Ox trowels comfy to hold, good value, and somehow they help me doo a good quality job despite my mediocre skills. So a question for you - how would you prepare and then plaster a wall where one half is painted cement render, the other half is unpainted cement render, with a rough 150mm channel where the old wall has been removed? I've a few ideas, but would love to hear your thoughts. Thanks. Martin.
As someone just starting out from joinery into this finding the Amount of trowels and companies, steel, plastic, speed skims it’s bloody expensive, as someone from Newcastle we have a saying “Shy bairns get nowt” I would love even one of these to see if it improves my learned technique
M Town flex trowels are not great, especially for the price!
Hi lads I’ve subscribed like and shared it on Facebook 👌 what are the ox flexi trowels like compared to the nela ?
How do you plaster a wonky wall if you can't use a feather edge because the wall is so uneven?
What mixing drill do you use and would you recommend it ?
I love ox tools, especially the trowls, love nela too but there cork handles, can't handle my hand it fall apart after a few months
What would you say it better sand and cement render or k rend etc
Thanks for your helpful vids guys. One question I have is: I'd like to skim a wall to cover hairline cracks. It is plaster over breeze block and already painted. What would be the best way to prep it? All the best. Steve
Hi great videos.
Here's question. What is your view on sponge floating? And question for me is. Laying on and troweling up with 18" trowel does it make a difference in flatter work? Cheers fellas
I'm a rookie at plastering and have some hand me down tools. What would you recommend as the basic set of tools for a DIYer ?
It’s worth paying for a decent stainless steel trowel if you want a decent finish. Ox &
Marshall town are the best I’ve used. Don’t use a cheap Wilko trowel.
Can I use ox ultraflex trowel from start to finish please let me know????? Vishal
Any tips on starting a plastering business??
How much practice does it take to her smooth walls?
Just subbed lads got the link from PTG.
How do you put it on top to bottom or bottom to top
Do you think it's worth getting a speed skim?
Im new to plastering and I’m half way though my lever 1 so i need help lol. What is the best way to plaster a damaged window reveal???
tiger stripes ? help me iron them out to get rid of them, i want a smother finish ! (diy plaster)
Fresh mix for second coating, keep flat as possible!
Also troweling up too early=adding water
Hi guys what’s your best tips for a beginner
Have you tried the mixm8 paddle? Alot of people didn't like them but I'm on my second one probably need to get another as it is wearing down. Need to use a tall bucket. First one wasn't by ox and my speedskim set isn't ox but both exact same as ox one, are the trowels similar to any other brands?
Subscribed when you only had a couple of videos out have you removed some?
Two coats with same mix or two separate coats? What do you prefer?
Is it feasible for a home diyer to get a decent finish?
I'd say so yes Paul. It's probably not going to happen if it's the first time.you have ever held a trowel but if you give yourself a bit of a chance and maybe practice on a few small walls you will stand a much better chance of success.
Hi guys, would you flatten of with a plaziflex,!
You can do, but you have to be careful not to drag too much plaster off the wall. Use a plastering spatula instead then you can make sure everywhere is flat. Not sure what the guys think?
How's the best way to patch in larvin plaster
Do ox do a plastic trowel??
Yes but I don’t like them, Refina Plaziflex or valles plastic trowel are better.
Who won the trowels? I demand an enquiry....
It's coming don't worry!
