There are a few instances when a cello or violin is added into the mix. The Beatboxer extraordinaire is also a very accomplished Cello player. He will bring out the cello on a few songs, and they will partner up with Lindsey Stirling and her violin. Check out their cover of Radioactive...You will be impressed.
Scott is considered one of the World's best Baritone Voices. I think everyone of them is incredible. I have a great poster from their 2019 Concert. They are so prolific in their music, that their concerts are amazing. I am a McCURLEY with ancestors from County Cork.
Avi kaplan has original songs and in them, he puts powerful and smooth vocals. One of his songs is Change on the rise, It knows and Chains. You will be able to really see what his voice is like. It's 🤯🤯🤯

Can someone out there please help me, as a while back I listened to Avi doing an original song I believe it had in the title the word "Rising" - I would love to see a link directing me to that monster of a song. It has a certain intensity which makes a person wish to go out and hunt grizzly bears barehanded!

“Mary did you know” is another PTX song that is very emotional and beautiful, and yes, if you appreciate bass, go HomeFree they technically have 2 in the group...for them, I’d recommend “Man of constant sorrow”

"Run to You" was written by Kevin and Avi and they brought it to the group. "Standing By" and "Light in the Hallway" are similar in exploring emotional themes.
You’re right. Ugh I cry everytime I listen to these songs.
Their medleys really show how amazing their arrangement skills are. From the very beginning, they've been experts at blending different songs. On the Sing Off, they combined Cee Lo Green's "Forget You" with Kelly Clarkson's "Since You've Been Gone," and the result is just - perfection.

I agree with you 1000% Barry . They are by far the best a cappella group in the world and even better than most current groups that I hear on the radio. It’s a crying shame that these guys are not played on main stream radio. They are so deserving of it and I bet that many people would not even be able to tell that they aren’t using instruments. There’s just so much joy when they sing and they are so positive and inclusive. They make even the darkest day bright with the joy that they bring to the music that they produce. There isn’t one cover that they have done that I don’t like better than the original. You will have to check out some of their original music as well. It’s sublime. Welcome to the PTX rabbit hole.

Barry, they did win a music contest, which is how they got started. Prize was $200,000 and a Sony recording contract. It was called the 'Sing Off' (season three). Hi, Barry - thanks for covering this one! If it isn't amazing enough as it stands, FYI they perform this and other of their evolution works live in concert and never miss a step. Mitch, Kirsti and Scott all have amazing voices but the whole piece rests on the incredible work done by Kevin on beatbox and Avi with the bass line. Just follow the rapid changes in beats and backing structure as they move from song to song, just breathtaking. "Run to You" is a really wonderful piece (one of the very few where Kevin only sings sans beatboxing) and I really love their original "Love Again" where again Avi and Kevin show off on a piece that is driven hard by the beat. Also check out their covers of "Say Something" (ikeep the tissues handy, it will tear at your heart - also Kevin breaks out his cello) and their more recent cover of the Lion King's "Can You Feel the Love Tonight?" And hang on - the holidays are coming and they have a fantastic catalog of holiday music that appeals even to Grinch like me. All the best, B!

Is it true that Avi is no longer touring with the rest of the group in his quest to be a solo artist?
@@lilRadRidinHood yup, sad to say. He left the group at the end of their world tour in 2017. The five of them did a really touching video where he explained that the touring was too much. He helped them find Matt who took over the bass line in 2018. Check out their cover of “Dancing on My Own”. - it’s the one video they did in between with Kevin providing the bass register with his cello, beautiful and sad under the circumstances

It's a shame that the positions of the mics on these sit down, one take versions is so close to Avi and Kevin - however, having said that it's an opportunity to hear closely exactly what the rhythm section is doing because sometimes we only get to hear them in the background. They are so talented - it's nuts how they do these live and don't miss a beat. Kevin definitely has at least two sets of lungs.... Avi clearly has a bass guitar implanted in his throat.... PTX are masters of 'light and shade'... just stunningly good... always...

There is another acapela group that I think you might be intrigued by; they are called "Home Free" and they have some fantastic (in my opinion) videos.
