Heartbreaking to see Mort pass away. He was always a great presence on TV. Will be a massive loss.
Rich is always the fatherly voice of reason with conviction. I don’t normally get emotional when celebrities die but when Rich gets choked up saying, “we love you” & when Stuart Scott (rest his soul) passed away; seeing Rich get emotional is on the level of watching your father cry. Thank you for your passion and genuineness, Rich.
RIP Mort he was so good for the NFL. Tough to see him deteriorate the last couple years.
Loved Mortensen. I haven't seen him in years, but I remember him well. RIP Chris. You will not be forgotten. o
Same! Seeing Daniel tear up yesterday had me misty. Mort been around for forever, sad to see him pass. Prayers for his family 🙏🏾
Enormous loss. He was so good at his job & the tributes illustrate what kind of man he was. 😢
Daniel's words about Mort brought tears to this old man.
RIP to a legend of ESPN. Grew up watching all of you guys Rich. Very distinct memories of watching SC and NFL Countdown. He will be missed but not forgotten.
I've heard so many great things about this man. The theme I continue to get from across the sports journalist landscape and from athletes and celebrities is a gentle giant of a legacy who left a wonderful impression on anyone he met. The stuff legends are made of. RIP Mortensen
well said. felt horrible for him when he got sick. but he persevered through it and still worked as an insider. he is part of the old ESPN colleagues that made the channel worth watching. he was a true respected it seems and even better person. RIP
It won’t be the same on ESPN without Chris Mortensen. I looked forward to listening to him and watching him all the time, but may he rest now in sweet peace, as he will forever be missed.🙏🙏🥺
Great tribute from Rich to Chris Mortensen
Seeing the pics of Mort looking sooo young is shocking. I had forgotten those times, Rest in Power Mort!
The tribute was perfect 😢 restcl in power dear Chris
Love when Rich was talking about old Sports Center/ESPN. You could watch ESPN all damn day they we're so good!! Miss those days.
Chris Mortensen was a legend he will be missed.
I love Chris Mortensen. I'll always remember his happy presence on any set, court or field he was on. He's a beautiful soul and I will miss seeing him very much. ❤
I started watching football around the year 2000. I grew up to Chris Berman and Tom Jackson doing NFL primetime. Watching Mike Golic, Sean Salisbury, Trey Wingo, John Clayton and Chris Mortensen. Thoughts and prayers to the Mortensen family.
A true legend and one of the OG Insiders.
He waa one of the best. A part of the history of NFL television as much as Chris Berman or Stu Scott or Rich Eisen.
Great comments, Rich 🙏
this is a big loss for ESPN and the NFL. a legendary reporter will be missed R.I.P Chris Mortensen 😢😢😢😢😢😥😥
Well said sir. Rest well Mort. 🙏🏻🐐
So sorry to hear, my sympathies to his family and friends.
Prayers
My childhood is transitioning smh…….since I was 9 years old all my Sunday mornings in the fall included NFL Gameday (as it was called back then) and part of that was The Mort Report. That cast of Boomer, TJ, Joe Theisman and Mort filling in the info gaps was magic.
RIP to one of the best to ever do it.
Rest in Peace Chris Mortensen!!!
Rich, Mort was one of the reasons I love the NFL! Bon Voyage my friend!
Mort your suffering is over forever and now in heaven god bless you
R.I.P Chris 🌹
I remember the ESPN inside the nfl, I always watched, he will be missed
I remember Rich on 12/31/99 with Linda Cohn leading into the plays of the century. Linda “Aerosmith never sounded so good”.
Mortensen was the triple og nfl reporting. Eisen was there linda cohn kenny mane. There's a reason espn blows now. All the talent moved on.
RIP Mortenson. True pro!
I didn’t realize you had been in Redding!! My favorite steakhouse is there!! Jack’s Grill!! Hope you got to enjoy many steaks while you were there!! GREAT SHOWS TODAY!!! Not just today, of course!! Thank You Rich!!!
Rest in peace, Mort
Rip
Go Chiefs! Mort was a huge part of my childhood growing up….his reaction to the Colts draft when Kiper ticked off the GM was iconic!
To be quite honest…You Rich Eisen along with Chris Berman Dan Patrick and Mort were and will always be The Guys in my book! My personal Rat Pack! Rest easy Mort🙏🏻
RIP
Mort was part of one of the best NFL countdown crews ever when it was Mort, Berman, Jackson, Theismann and Sharpe.
Loved Chris's work. Wow your from Redding? I didn't know that, I live in Shingletown now.
Mort and John Clayton will always be Bills Mafia. God bless them both.
Mort was the Goat 😢
RIP Big Mort
A sad day for all fans of the NFL.
He was highly critical and disliked Tebow
Tell that to Warren Sapp....
Ummmm...George Michael.
As much as I hate Disney and all its subsidiaries for forcing far-left politics into everything they broadcast, ESPN has a long track record of employing some really good people - including some that are now gone, like Stuart Scott and Mort. RIP
🤦♂️🤦♂️ ❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️❄️
Nobody cares what you hate!! Just give your condolences to Mort and move on.
