I'm more convinced that all the timelines reconverged into one so BOTW and TOTK are after all that, could explain things from multiple times being in these and thus increasing the lore in a way, perhaps. Regardless, this is interesting. And Zelda geeking out is so cute!

Not even reset he's gloom sealed up your most of your hearts and stamina heck what u get from shrines basically says it's slowly healing your arm and getting the first 4 and getting the mandatory heart upgrade your not getting a new life energy it's pushing the curse back enough to reclaim the heart. That's a Kool idea instead of doing a mm and reset your stats to zero for no real reason.

@@corrinflakes9659 I'm including the twilight in that because it's in an identical state except they created their own technology to save themselves--the lack of a real sun also explains midna's blue skin. Its very interesting midna never once brings up the triforce. My headcannon is that it's existence was hidden from their history--lbw showed what happens when hyrule's counterpart is aware of the triforce's existence--but they were still aware of a being who'd take form of a divine beast who would help them and cautious when a greedy man tried to ascend the throne and rightly denied him the position.

I got up at midnight to play this and I was blown away by how awesome the first part was. I was actually scared going around those corners. I expected something to jump out at me. I like how the Master Sword lights up when Ganondorf is nearby just like Sting in The Hobbit movies when Orcs are nearby.
@@PRIDLEY229 Me too! The tone and atmosphere that the beginning of the game sets up is so eerie...especially with how the music gets progressively louder and creepier the deeper you go and the Gloom gets thicker

When I saw this cutscene, I was freaking out when they mentioned Imprisoning War from A Link to the Past, and then Ganondorf name dropping Rauru the Sage of Light from Ocarina of Time, but I realized they were totally different things. I guess it was a nice reference to the past games

It might as well be the same Imprisoning War in the downfall timeline and the same Rauru as in OoT, but don't expect everything to line up perfectly with OoT/ALttP lore. I think they're reinterpreting the lore in this game.

Helps my own theory in the events of all 3 timeliness are exaggerated stories of one story, rito tell the story of WW, hylians, Zora and Goron tell the events of twilight princess and the gerudo tell the story iif the downfall timeline, some events such as the war happened, pig Ganon was the gerudo alienating Ganon as a beast, while in reality he was always still ganondorf

We knew Rauru built the Temple of Time, we just assumed it was the Rauru from OoT since he was the only Rauru we knew about. Nothing has been retconned by making this Rauru a Zonai.
Also, there seems to be two Temple of Time, the Hyrulian one and the Zonai one, along with a Hylian and a Zonai Rauru.
@Amanda A which would make sense that theres multiple temples of time considering theres a whole separate one in Skyward sword in the desert that pre-dates these ones.
@@AlexFandino-xi3oo Exactly. Because I think it is confirmed that the Sealed Temple in Skyward Sword becomes the Temple of Time? While we still have the one innthe desert. So it seems pretty clear that there have been a few different Temple of Time throughout the history of Hyrule.

In the German version the Temple of Time we knew from ooT is called Zitadelle der Zeit (citadel of time) while this one is named Tempel der Zeit (temple of time). Guess it is just a bad translation

@HMK if this theory is correct , the image for botw where the hero of legend is passing on the master sword to the hero of the wild makes it that much more symbolic to the lore of the story
I think it's wrong to assume that the mural is depicting anything from previous games, you gotta remember that breath of the wild takes place tens of thousands of years after the original zelda timeline, theres an immersuable amount of history that we straight up don't know about. It's entirely possible that the events with the zonai happened way after the original zelda timeline.
Yeah, I doubt that they would completely retcon the timeline and all games before it.
If anything, it’s their way of sweeping it under the rug (save it for later installments maybe) and focus on this “soft reboot” of the series.
I just hope botw and totk don’t become the ocarina of time for this new direction, I’d like to see something akin to alttp but in 3D and a massive map in the future

I loved every second of the opening mostly cuz of the music. I love how harsh it gets as you go deeper. I really liked the trailer 1 music and I'm glad they made the obvious choice of having that be the song that plays here
Yeah amazing choice right?, with a couple of the trailer themes I was afraid they were one offs made for the trailers only, but not only were they in the game but recomposed and modified to the gameplay sections. I’m not gonna lie, don’t often have high hopes for games but TLoZ always has that spot so my hopes and believe have always been high, even (actually especially) when they said they’d use the same Hyrule, but they’ve greatly surpassed my hopes with this. Already so many “woaahh and wtf” moments it’s insane 😂💯💪
I hope everyone really enjoys the game, from what I’ve seen from trailers and little bits of gameplay, like with BOTW I think this is going to be something truly special. With the countdown finished, one of the biggest adventures yet begins. The sequel to what people consider as one of the greats games of all time. Tears of the kingdom. Can’t wait to see peoples reactions to the game. ❤️
So far I have been enjoying the game heaps, I spent the whole day yesterday just doing the tutorial section up in the sky, boy was it a marathon, finding and getting to the four shrines was the real difficulty.

I love that they gave me the option to hold on before checking Ganon’s corpse. The music was getting scarier and louder and I was like “nah nah, we OUT” but Zelda really out here not letting me go back to the mural room 😭
Here’s what I’ll say about the murals. I think they depict a different Imprisoning War separate from the one in Alttp.
I think that Rauru and the Hylian girl founded a NEW Hyrule. So much time has passed since the old games and these that Hyrule from that time has pretty much diminished and fizzled out. After so long without existing, Rauru the Zonai and the Hylian woman (I won’t say her name to avoid spoilers) found a new Hyrule as the 1st king and queen.

Yeah...last I heard BotW and this take place at the end of ALL timelines iirc...so it could have been an Imprisoning War that happened sometime then. I think BotW with all it's references to each timeline made it pretty clear they wanted to rejoin the timeline in some way to make things a little easier going forward...if they split the timeline again after this or not we don't know but for now I say the timeline rejoined at some point and BotW and TotK are the result of that.

Really depends on how you look at it. The murals could also be another spin at Imprisoning War from ALttP. We know that you can't take all info from the series as gospel considering we were told that Ganondorf prior to ALttP obtained the full triforce but then it turns out that he only got the ToP and had to fight for the others in OoT.
Same thing for the sages creating the MS, SS Link did that not the sages.
Seems too good to be true that they would name drop one of the most anticipated wars since ALttP released.l and it would turn out to be an entirely different war.
@@firionkaiser8291 Page 360 of "Creating a Champion" states that everything before BotW has faded into myth and the official timeline shows BotW at the end of EVERY timeline. You don't get much more official than that, unless you got some spoilers that prove the exact placement of BotW that were revealed in this game, it still looks like a situation of BotW and TotK taking place at the end of all timelines with TotK being a direct sequel to BotW...one of the very few direct sequels LoZ gets at that.
I mean. People from the sky helping found Hyrule is kind of a constant. Wind tribe in minish cap, oocca in twilight Princess. Now we see that their help founding the kingdom was more involved than we thought.

A blade that shatters so easily and that fragile sword, lol referencing the weapon durability system. Also the fact he insulted the Master Sword and broke it so easily even though it was at full power, with just his power alone makes him probs the most powerful Ganondorf of all.

Something doesn't add up, in one of the memories they mentioned the Embers of Twilight which is from the Child Timeline, but if the Imprisoning War was from the Downfall Timeline... does this mean...

I was a believer in the Child timeline but the Downfall timeline indeed does make more sense and likely is more held dear to Nintendo since it was the start of Zelda
It could be a secret war that takes place after Skyward Sword and between Minish Cap. And the Rauru we see in this game is the first Rauru and the one in OOT is named after this one.

The Rauru we see in OoT was the one who made the Temple of Time prior to establishment of Hyrule. That means he couldn't have been named after the one in TotK.
Different Ganondorf. Just like Link and Zelda, they may technically be different people but their spirits are reincarnated. Also it’s my belief that there were two Imprisoning Wars. The one referred to here is the first and the one we have known about for years was the second

All things considered I'm starting to wonder if Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom exist on a fourth timeline separate from the others, because this is clearly not the same Hyrule from Skyward Sword's founding.

in a MattPat video, he mentioned that Hyrule Warriors 1 could be a merging point of the three timeliness because of the events that lead to them...because of that breath of the wild, Tears of the kingdom and the 10,000 year old legend before breath of the wild would follow Hyrule Warriors 1 as a catalyst of all three timelines combined...this will also explain why we see elements in the the environments of Hyrule from all 3 timelines...
1-Ritos and Tetra Fields (appears in the French version) and mekar island and Vah Medoh (Medli) from the Adult timeline
2- Darmani's statue, the mirror of Twilight, Rutala Dam (the namesake of Queen Rutela) and Ralis Pond (named for her son, Prince Ralis), Zelda mentioning the Twilight in the first memory, along with Zoras and Ritos both existing although they are genetically linked to one another. all these from the child timeline.
3-and now we get the imprisoning war...which I have to admit is the only thing that came the hero's defeat timeline...
Now my theory is the following...all entities of Ganon were killed in both the adult and Child timeline...only the defeat remains to take down

I think the contradictions you see from this game and previous ones is because imo there's no real solid connection between the games. Instead, maybe you could say this Rauru is the same character, but merely a different interpretation. The only game they cant have to contradict is breath of the wild

Name dropping the Imprisoning War does not confirm Downfall timeline. The Imprisoning war, as shown here, would take place in the unified timeline prior to the split, as it features what is apparently the first Roysl family that founded the Kingdom of Hyrule... in other words before the timeline split of OoT's long established Hyrule.
i doubt totk and botw take place in the downfall timeline, they mention the great sea from windwaker and the twilight from tp, this does show that this takes place at the end of all time lines, plus in the downfall timeline, ganondorf is a beast like pig, and not in his gerudo form, totk in the trailers already showed that ganondorf is in his gerudo form good theory HMK tho

My theory about Breath of the Wild's placement in the timeline is that a secret event took place that resulted in a reset going back to the ending of Ocarina of Time, where all three timelines are undone and a brand-new, singular timeline is created the led to Breath of the Wild.
But I also have a second theory. What if Breath of the Wild is just simply a brand-new timeline that branched out after Skyward Sword? Bascially, what happened at the end of Ocarina of Time was not first time the timeline split.

I SWEAR this game, (and BOTW,) is its own timeline, independent of all previous games. I used to think it was all timelines in one. BUT, with evidence found in this game, there are FAR too many plot holes for any known timeline, or mix of.
Yep. Its its own thing. Theres a reason Links tunic color is now blue instead of the traditional green.
I think the devs were going more for a "soft reboot" vibe with BotW. Imagine scenarios similar to all of the other games, leaving open some room for significant variations from what we were actually shown directly in any of them while still hitting the same general beats. (You know that expression that says something along the lines of "history doesn't repeat itself but it does rhyme". Similar to that expression, Hyrule's history would be rhyming across the different timeline branches.) One branch of the timeline has its events as shown directly in its set of games as well as a bunch of those variant scenarios for the other branches' games, and same for the second branch and the third branch. Skip ahead however many countless tens of thousands of years while all of that happens on each branch. History fades to legend. Legend fades to myth. In the end, by the time you reach the backstory that leads into BotW or some variant of it, it seems that what the devs wanted us to believe is that the exact order that all that beyond ancient history happened in could be too muddled to tell the difference of which branch we're seeing directly in BotW. (It's inevitable that things would eventually lead to something like BotW one way or another, apparently.) All of the old stuff is still "canon" but it's obscured in old myths, which sets them up with a relatively clean slate to move forward from. (They can fill in the blank space between the old myths and the new era by creating new origin stories that follow after those old myths.) It's even got a couple of built-in backup plans where if at some point in the future they can't find a good fit for a new game's story in the post-BotW era timeline they can just slide on over and set it after the variant of BotW in either of the other two branches. Reset buttons on the soft reboot.
Haven't seen too much of TotK's story yet (I've seen the first memory, I've been doing a lot of wandering in various directions but haven't seen any other memories yet), so can't comment on how well it does or doesn't mesh with things we know from the rest of the series.
the owl in oot is rauru so rauru can change forms, so maybe human rauru is just a form of this one

It's CONVERGENCE. They're telling multiple stories on those murals. Tears of the Kingdom will link to ALL Major Zeldas.
Skyward Sword, The Minish Cap, Ocarina of Time, A Link to the Past, Twilight Princess, & maybe a bit of Spirit Tracks too.
Breath of the Wild's world does not make sense in a one single timeline situation. Something always contradicts somehow.
Tears of the Kingdom will explain not only the REAL reason behind that old tapestry but WHY the Timelines blended.
Link's hair is not Red but he's shown looking like that in the tapestry. Something weird is going on.
It feels like this is touching on the Demise vs. Hylia war, the Interloper War, the Imprisoning War, & so much more.
Zelda Theorists are about to reeducated about what Hyrule really is after Tears of the Kingdom is done with them.
The Legend of Zelda reuses names, like how every Link and Zelda is named that way but are different people in each game outside a few direct sequels.
I love how this game just straight up tells you that your prologue guide is Rauru -- Imagine how horrifying it would be if you had to wait the entire prologue to find that out? And since they already used "Old Man" for the King in Breath of the Wild, they'd probably have to end up going with something like, "The Stranger."
But they couldn't just have him introduce himself as, "The Stranger: Source of the Right Arm."
Because after that last "Mad World" advertisement, and being a single 34 year old, I'm starting to think this game might be fucking with me. Like, "Hey wouldn't it be nice if you still had enough soul left to have some semblance of an imagination?"

This is not the same Ganondorf we knew from Ocarina of Time. I think this Ganondorf is the one who existed before. The one we have always known was destroyed officially in LoZ and was never resurrected in the Adventure of Link.
We are indeed dealing with a time travel (or at least Zelda is). And the voice Link heard is Rauru and speaking to Link from across the chasm of time.
Ps: I always thought we were dealing with the downfall timeline. ;)

It’s crazy that it’s actually out now. I’m so happy and excited that we all are starting our adventure after all this time of waiting. But in a way I’m also kind of sad though, the wait and build up for this game was great, I’m going to miss that anticipation for it.

Absolutely LOVE it! I'm in trouble now with that part where you have a minecart, hook, and blower. There's a part of the rail that is missing and the minecart keeps falling off. Tried it several times but not getting to the other island.
Try a capsuled wing
Do it on the opposite side of the rail, the one on the left, instead of the one on the right (which is missing a part)
The dragon in the back is super important later and I can't believe they waived it in my face at the very beginning of the game and I didn't notice. Lol
Yeah, technically speaking Ocarina of Time would be “Young Hyrule” in perspective to BOTW in terms of historical accounting, same with “Early Hyrule”. The 10,000 years to 100 years prior to BOTW is “Late Hyrule”.
My headcanon after all this is that a long time after all of the timelines, the Kingdom of Hyrule declined and fell into legend, even so far that it became forgotten. Then they reestablished a new Kingdom of Hyrule. Thus kickstarting the new canon.
It likely isn't the downfall timeline. Some things from the first game contradict that since events from Twighlight princess are mentioned. Several great Calamity's happened as well so it's possible 100k years have passed since Ocarina of time. Do if this is in the same timeline as Twighlight princess then so much could have happened in that time-frame
