  • This is the Quickview of the inexplicably "1/12th scale" Enduro 12 from Element RC. It is pretty widely known that in 1/10th scale, the Enduro SE is one of the only RTRs to get a soft pass from me, so how does his little brother compare?

The small scale rigs are good for people with less budget, people who can't get out to crawl or people who dont have much storage space.
I was very skeptical but when it was clear i wouldn't have any outdoor wheeling time for a good while i picked up a FCX24 and a Furitek Wagon.
I've been really impressed on thier performance for the size. I have a 3d printer and the small scale allows me to easily print bodies, bumpers, links etc
The new offerings from FMS and Furitek are a major step up from the Element and Axial Scx24, in my opinion.

    • @CrawlerCanyon

I;ve heard this about the Furitek small stuff-- that the SCX24 looks basically like a relic. I've no desire to find out. This was an entertaining (mostly) experiment, but I still find no allure in the smaller stuff. Living in the land without seasons helps.

@@jamesmcdonald2680 Element doesn't get a free pass for taking a Thunder Tiger vehicle, putting worse components on it, raising the price, and calling it a "trail truck" to justify the absolute lack of performance. People pretty much dragged the previously-released PUBG tie-in Thunder Tiger rigs for their lack of performance, and I don't recall anyone ever singing the praises of the CR12. IIRC, Tomley also called the Ascent his "RTR of the year" which is an absolute kill-shot to any kind of credibility. I'm not contractually obligated to like the Enduro 12. So I don't.

It climbed pretty good after the mods. Probably had a lot to do with the driver.
At work I tend to look at the entry level employees. Then I think why aren’t they where I am now after my 10,000 hours. So, just like with having and raising kids, I have to keep in mind where I was at that starting point.
Good job having grace with this little guy.
The element 1/24 scale, I have not tried, I have heard don’t bother… I do not know if 1/12 will stick like 1/24 ,1/18, and 1/10 scale rock crawlers. As for right now it seems like an entry level toy.

Nissan made the Juke, and Element has now made the Enduro 12-- which, despite having no personal experience with the Enduro24, reckon it to be the worst thing Element has ever aimed at the consumer. They keep getting worse, they all but refuse to innovate, and unless the Enduro 12 is anything short of a complete and total sales failure, they're going to keep doing it.

No offenses meant here, but the vid, although is interesting, is too biased toward pushing the viewer to moving onto the Axial XCS. This (Enduro) crawler is for a beginner/intermediate user, and the info that we seek is lost in the biased comparisons that are presented in the vid. The one point that I was interested in was the short mention of the 2A-BS transmitter that you mentioned as an upgraded version but never went onto detail on such. I have this exact setup, and was looking for support on that, but the entire vid did not address that and just bashed the out-of-the box setup compared to the Axial. By his presentation, I can respect and understand your knowledge in the RC world and equipment involved, but lost interest due to the (What I perceived as a lack of offering) explaining the true differences between what's in the box as opposed to what one receives as they want to use it. The upgraded transmitter is the main thing that I am talking about as FlySky and Associated do not have any info available. If you could readdress the difference or upgrade details in the transmitter, in a separate vid, it would make this vid more complete. Just my non-judgmental opinion here. As I stated, no offenses meant here.

The "updated" 2A-BS included here (a G4P at its core) has dip switches on the controller to adjust functions on the ESC, instead of putting the switches/jumpers on the ESC. So it's a slaved system, done purely as a cost saving measure, as the G4P stands uncontested as my choice for worst RTR radio. It makes me long for a Spektrum DX3, which is a gawdawful radio in it's own right.
It is impossible to compare the Enduro 12 to the UTB18, because they are both aimed at the same exact market segment. The UTB18-- and I'm as surprised as anyone-- does EVERYTHING better than the Element offering. The 2-in-1 is nicer, the transmitter is MUCH better, and the appointments are again, significantly better (the UTB18 has LEDs, serviceable tires, etc). There is absolutely no point in "highlighting" the radio system as Element chose cost savings over all else, and provided the buyer with a woeful radio. The Enduro 12 is NOT anywhere near $200 RTR, because it would take a investment of $100 to make it simply livable. A better estimate is $150 just to take it to the level of a box-stock UTB18. Which is a shame.
This video is, at it's core, not intended to confirm the bias of people who have already bought an Enduro 12. Those people should have researched more first. I'm trying to prevent people from purchasing the Enduro 12 in any of it's guises, as it's an obvious margin-maker for Element (it's a rehashed/revamped Thunder Tiger from several years ago) with zero innovation and the absolute bare minimum of included parts. I would give the Enduro 12 a soft pass were it selling for say... $99.

Even though you shatt all over this truck you actually showed how capable it can be..
    😂
Your review was the most helpfull out of them all.
And again who just leaves rtr trucks stock.
First thing most people do is change the wheels/tires.
I have an old tekin fx-r esc i might try in it and see how it goes.
Those fx-r esc's are butter smooth.
I have another one in my axial dingo build... and i love the low modulation it can achieve.
The axial 1.0 chassis still rocks..
    Pun intended.
    Thank you 👍

I have some cheap chinese trail trucks in 1/12. This would play well with those.... because they are equally terrible. This is just another twist of the corporate shrink-flation knife. I'd pay the 300 for Baseline, 60 to 80 for a chinese 1/12, this thing though.... 140 tops. And that's just to get the parts you left in the vehicle. It lacks the scale hardbody of the cheapo chinese stuff, but has a more robust drivetrain. Also, the thing is too big to run alongside the 1/18 scale rigs. So you run it alongside the cheapo 1/12 hardbody scale trucks with interiors, etc. and yeah, it ends up looking like a Walmart managers special. Don't even get me started on the complete waste of money that is the Enduro24.

Honestly, I've never really seen the point of a crawler that's not 1/10 size, at least for myself. Obviously, there are individual exceptions and this isn't a universal truth, and obviously, people are buying this stuff for one reason or another, but in my own experience and speaking in generalities, anything smaller than what's called 1/10 is too small to really have fun with, and anything larger is too large to really have fun with. For the small stuff, especially the 1/24 heap, you basically are gonna be crawling on little homemade courses and flower gardens, which for me, I'd rather be out on the rocks in both -15 or 110 degree weather than indoors crawling on cardboard boxes and plaster. The larger stuff really just isn't challenging on much unless you take it on UTV trails, at which point you'll probably be in everyone's way. As they say, everyone strokes it differently, but for me, 1/10 fits perfectly everywhere I want it to go.

I love 1/18 and 1/24 because I have some good spots near me to run them outside when I can't get to really good 1/10 spots

The Enduro 12 is most disappointing for me because the UTB18 is just outright better at absolutely everything. By a lot. It's not even close. The Enduro 12 is a updated Thunder Tiger from a few years ago (which was never highly regarded,) while the UTB18 is a scaled-down Capra. I thought Element was coming out with something to be competitive. Instead, we got boardroom decisions to increase the margins.
