    Excellent review of the pros and cons. Thanks for the in-depth technical information on how the light actually functions in real world use.

    Fantastic video. Do you need any middleware hardware to connect the tube and Luminair?

    So if I download luminair do I need a dmx connection, AKS, or cintenna? Or does the light connect directly to luminair?

    Nanlite Pavotubes. $1440 for 4 four foot tubes. Internal ballasts and batteries.

    Great video but the Rainbow 2 and RR is already going to be out soon which I’m surprised you didn’t mention at all...
    I’m a gaffer and when I have a shoot that uses these lights I hook up wireless DMX with Luminair, easier to control a bunch of them in this way...
    Yeah agree lead/follow isn’t the most stable connection sometimes. Do try to download their latest firmware 0.96

      Unless you are looking for deep programmability I’d go for pavotubes. They’re on sale until 2.29.20

      The Q50 is better than a titan in my opinion. These are brighter, easier to navigate the menu, and easier to mount. The only reason to go with astera is the internal battery, but I can't rely on it for a shoot longer than a couple hours. The asteras look better as practicals though, they are more of an event light.

    They are overpriced! LED technology is cheap and affordable not sure why they are so expensive

    • @EDDY69
      @EDDY69 Před 4 lety +3

      They have a lot of professional features built in that you may not be aware of.
      1st is lumen radio, it's a built in wireless dmx receiver that is super reliable.
      2nd is it can run off AC or variable DC voltage of 10 -26 volts so you can run it off a car cigarette lighter at 12v, or a 14.8 volt v or gold mount, or a custom battery.
      3rd These lights have five led diodes rgb ww, compared to an industry standard arri skypannel with rgb w.They also have 95+ CRI and 97+ TLCI with the skypannel at 95 CRI and 90 TLCI.
      4th is built in effects, and chase and follow features and you can use cheap cat 5 over regular dmx.
      These aren't great lights for everyone, a lot of the features are turn key and meant for professionals but it's like a swiss army knife for me when lighting on set.

      Edward Dignan Still overpriced! They should cost about 500 or 600usd range

    • @hellozzh
      @hellozzh Před 4 lety +2

      It's made in US, that's the only reason why it's so expensive while using technology that already everywhere and cheap to get. Check Red price tag, then you will know Quasar is just a small player, Red selling their cheap $60 ssd for $5000, $40 monitar for $1500, and use extremely cheap low quality low reliability parts in their 20k-50k camera, which makes the camera performances slow like garbage, and they told user because it's a "PRO" level camera, it supposed to be that slow and expensive (while other pro level camera performance like 10-50 times faster).
      Today, you can basically make anything out from China with extremely low cost, and if you know how to manipulate and lie to your customers, you will become a very successful person or even a "legend" in American, eg, Red, Apple, Donald Trump (regardless of the shitty performance he's sitting on throne with the help of America people, same like RED)

    the fact theres no battery power is a HUGE downside. its the number 1 need for a fixture like this. Practicals are out of the question with this one who wants cables running through the shot. who wants cables period. nobody.
