24:29 sometimes when you trade someone in baseball, if two teams can’t decide on a player to trade they will just agree on a “player to be named later” which is usually someone of little importance at a different time. in this case, he was traded, and became the player to be named later
Specifically, MLB teams have a lot more players under contract than just the 25 who dress for the team itself on game day -- the rest are down on minor league clubs affiliated with the major league team so that they can play and develop their skills instead of just sit around. I think the concept in football/soccer of being on loan is probably a similar enough analogy, except a lot more formalized and on a much wider scale. With so many players to evaluate, teams often aren't sure off the bat whom they'd want to select, so in order to expedite the process they can settle on a Player To Be Named Later so that the trade isn't held up by analysis paralysis.
New York, Chicago, and LA all have 2 teams, there is also Oakland and San Fransisco which are 2 cities right next to each other that both have teams
Technically LA only has one team because the Angels are of the LA Angels of ANAHEIM.
@@i.a.galkin6042 if you're grouping Oakland and san Francisco together, you can group Anaheim and LA together too
@@tiggerpete neither of those four should be grouped unless you're doing it by the state of California.

Youre really gonna like this
This series is amazing l, Jon Bois never misses with content
This helped A LOT during quarantine in nyc. I legit checked every day for the next part.
big cities like chicago, nyc, and la frequently have multiple teams in sports.
The Mariners are like the Last Dance if the Bulls were a meme team
YESSS I’ve never liked baseball at all but Jon Bois is so good I love all of his videos
Lmao you have an anime pfp💀
@@CYROMERO2 k
Every time I watch the end of the first episode. It always gives me chills seeing him introduce Griffey. Always will be one of my favorite players
This is the best youtube series I've ever seen it's totally worth the effort.
One of the great series on youtube
Ayeeee being an 18 year old mariners fan, The mariners have never made the playoffs since i was born. Glad you’re watching this series! Hope you choose the Mariners as your favorite team, even though it is extremely painful to watch them, but we have a very bright future with young stars
I know the feeling. Sometimes I feel like my birth was a curse or something lol
gotta watch the whole series, big rollercoaster of emotions
Wow you actually did it!! Respect 👊🏾. The whole series is probably the best thing I've ever seen on CZcams...pretty much everything that Jon Bois does is the best.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍Thanks for doing this reaction Luka. I live in Seattle and the fans here have always loved and supported the Mariners. The stadium is absolutely beautiful and the skyline of Seattle is visible from the stadium is breathtaking. I know all about the losing tradition of the Mariners but believe me nobody cares. Every year the fans turn out to watch the team with hopes and dreams of a playoff appearance or even a run at the World Series. It rarely happen but the fans are there every night cheering on the team. All of the sports teams here are beloved. Even the WNBA. When we finally win the World Series this city will explode. I feel like the losing has been forgotten. Those old Mariner teams that lost all of those games are history. Look out for the 2020 Mainers. We're comin for ya!!⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Don't care if they win...and wnba beloved? Super, double loser mentality. Checks out.
Surprised that luka actually recognized ken griffey jrs name
Yeah it surprises me sometimes but I’m glad to see others get into the game!
You shoukd react to Foolish Baseball's video on Tyler Glasnow's curveball
YESSS. This series is the best thing on CZcams
This is the most ambitious cross over ever. But in between these videos I HIGHLY recommend watching a highlight video on Ichiro and/or Ken Griffey JR. if anybody has any suggestions I’d like to watch those too lol
Urinating Tree days of our Steelers next. So much disfunction, yet so funny.
Yeah Tree's a Steelers fan so he tears them apart (and Antonio Brown 😂)
Your Bo Jackson reaction was one of the most genuine and memorable on the channel.
Well now i have to watch the entire thing
You won’t regret it
Gianluca Logan i already have just going to watch it again
You should react to the Toronto Maple Leafs a Half Century of Failure by Urinatingtree.
Finally!!! I suggested this on the discord months ago, and now it’s here!!! Love ya Luka!
The wait for new episodes was the most painful thing ever, i just wanted to watch it all. It was worth the pain in the end
Awesome! Glad your doing this. Going to need to The Bob Emergency next :)
You’re doing the whole lot! 🤩
I hope you do some of the standalone Bois stuff as well. That Koo Dae Sung video is pretty good.
This series is awesome. There will probably be a lot of statistical stuff that will initially go over your head a bit, but it'll teach you quite a bit about the sport. And it's just really interesting and entertaining how they break it all down.
I know this is a year old, but hey the Mariners have a chance to make the playoffs! 3 games remain and they're tied for the 2nd wild card spot 😁. Been a fan since 2004! Haha super stoked!
Just a note. In 1980 they did have Rick Honeycutt. While he wasn't a star player he was one hell of a pitching coach. If you don't believe me ask Clayton Kershaw :)
YES, YES, YES, I am so excited for the reactions to the series!
Oh no. I have been waiting for this as a Mariners fan and I am so sorry for this journey you are about to go on.
boys he did it
"I want to see a Netflix series on this"
But this is so much better than what Netflix could offer. I mean, they don't even have Jon Bois
There are only three cities that host two MLB teams currently. New York: Yankees and Mets, Los Angeles: Angels and Dodgers, Chicago; Cubs and White sox. Back before teams started moving west a lot of cities of multiple teams. New York actually had 3 in the Yankees, Dodgers and Giants, but also Philadelphia, St. Louis and Boston has multiple.
Yeah, I’ve been waiting for this reaction
New York has the Yankees in the Bronx and the Mets in Queens, LA has the Dodgers in Chavez Ravine and the Angels in Anaheim, Chicago has the Cubs on the north side and the White Sox on the south side
In the past, Boston had the Red Sox’s and the Braves(now in Atlanta by way of Milwaukee) and St. Louis had the Cardinals and the Browns also Philadelphia had the Phillies and the Athletics. finally New York had 3 teams, the Yankees, the Giants and the Dodgers in Brooklyn
yes!!! more of this series and Jon Bois reactions in general!!!
The football life and the Netflix doc on Bo Jackson is so good!
Love you for this one!
Yankees play in the Bronx. Mets play in Queens.
Dodgers play in LA. Angels play in Anaheim.
The only two teams that truly play in the same city are the Cubs and White Sox, but even then they are on opposite sides of the city.
@Paul Kostiak true but aren't they big enough to be their own city? just asking.
You’re gonna LOVE THIS
I loved the Kingdome! I was so sad when it was imploded. I felt it when it happened.
Thank you for doing this. Its so fucking good.
HE DELIVERS
Could you react to Zack Hample? He goes to ballgames and catches baseballs from the stands. If anyone could comment which of his vids Luka should react to under this that would be awesome
Cities with two MLB teams, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York City, Sanfrancisco/Oakland(part of the same metro area)
Luka you should live stream the blazers/ grizzlies game tomorrow it’s at 7:30 UK time so it’s early
Can you react to urinatingtree video on the Toronto maple Leafs half century of faluire.
To have two teams in one city, you have to be a large enough city to support two teams. Places like Los Angeles, New York, and Chicago are the biggest cities in the country, and can support two teams.
Hey, I would love to see your reaction to more recent Secret Base docuseries, like their ones on the Atlanta Falcons, Minnesota Vikings, or Dave Stieb!

Yessss, feel our paiiiinnn! -Lifetime Mariner's Fan
At one point, there were 3 major league teams in New York at once. Dodgers, Giants and Yankees.
Probably too long for a reaction video, but ESPN did a really good documentary on Bo Jackson several years ago called "You Don't Know Bo." Definitely worth a watch. It's over an hour so a reaction might be out of the question, but maybe a 2 part reaction? Either way, definitely watch it.
The Mariners are the only team to have never gone to the World Series...
Bruv I just clicked on this after following you all year and didn’t know you reacted to this!! Please react to the whole series! Born and raised in Tacoma Washington (home of the Rainier‘s, Mariners 2nd team). It really doesn’t get any better than this as far as story telling goes..
Also, the music is excellently corny.
YESSSS

as someone from seattle and have loved the mariners my whole life (the last 21 years), this series meant so much to me. we don’t cheer for them to win, we cheer for the weirdness!
Post them all on the main. People might get confused
“Surely there wouldn’t be 2 teams in one city” New York once had 3 teams. The Yankees the giants the dodgers. And currently has the Yankees and Mets and LA has the angles and dodgers.
You need to react to all of this
The only cities in North American sports with multiple teams in the same sports are Los Angeles, New York City, and Chicago, cities of 4 million, 3, million, and 8.6 million, respectively. Seattle around 800k. So seattle will likely never have more. They even lost their NBA team about 15 years ago.
You have to include the San Francisco Bay Area as well (even though it's 2 cities, they're right next to each other).
24:26 Sometimes a player will be traded for a "player to be named later" and in some extremely rare cases, a player who spent time with one team can be returned to their original team. Almost like the team that traded for him just rented him for a period of time.
This has only happened a handful of times in MLB history. Most of the time the PTBNL is included just to get a deal done prior to a deadline (normally teams cannot trade with one another from August 1 to the end of the playoffs)
As a Mariners fan this pains me deeply, but is completely accurate
Look for the 30 for 30 documentary called You Dont Know Bo if you want to learn about Bo Jackson
yyyayaayayayayayayay better do all 5 parts
I really want to know what Luka said in the part that was muted at 14:52
Thanks for finally doing this

Dork towndoes amazing stuff I know people who don’t like sports that love Jon Bois and dork town
Luka PLEASE answer I want to know your thoughts on Barcelona getting the bloody hell kicked out of them

Chris Benoit was one of my all time favorites and hate how his last days ended...but even I never wanted to spread hate on his name knowing he still had two kids that had nothing to do with his ending, which was was why I get annoyed by stuff said by Jordynne. But she's apologizing so it does feel ok in a way...even if it isn't coming from a genuine place
Why is it mute at 15:00?
Ever gona do nfl/clf/ncca again?
Hail Seattle!!
New York City has two baseball teams (Yankees and Mets) two basketball teams (Knicks and Nets) two football teams (Giants and Jets) and two hockey teams (Rangers and Islanders) plus the New Jersey Devils play not the far away in New Jersey
You could react to the Seahawks winning the Super Bowl.. there’s a good series on that on.
TBH, David I think won't probably make a long career in wrestling but hope the best and mostly hope for his happiness and comfort as he was put in a horrible position

The Seattle Pilots got its name because Washington state was the home state of Boeing, the airplane manufacturer.
The other Milwaukee Brewers, the 1901 Brewers, sucked. As did the team they relocated to. I don't know how they didn't relocate until 1953 because, literally, the majority of the seasons they were there, they sucked to the point where people forgot about them. Until they relocated to Baltimore
Weren't they the team that benefitted from the collusion that made the Cleveland spiders terrible? Or was that the early cardinals? I know it was a St Louis team who's owner also owned the spiders, and traded all the good players to St Louis and all the bad players to Cleveland.
Bo Jackson and Deon Sanders were both prolific in both Football and Baseball, tho Bo was a better double athlete
Is this a sub group of Barnum and Bailey circus? 🤣🤣🤣🤣
