I agree with your opinion on the show. I used to watch HTF as a child, but then stop watching it as I got older. The show does have some good animation, but the series is unfunny and disturbing to watch.

Yo, dude i animate this show, doing fan made episode and i 10000% agree with you, that why i removed all the gore to this show, to me it's incredible better without any violence and you have no clue how many comments i receive everyday about how people think it's totaly amazing to remove this violence, you can notice on my channel some episode with gore in it, but it's onlly beacause my communauty ask for it, but at all i always hated it and never get pleasure to doing these, i always wondering how people can like this, it's over again the same bullshit and it's so boring, i always wanted to explain why i hate this and now i can send this video atleast to people who ask me haha, beacause my english is not perfect and i got alot of difficult to explain ... but this video is perfect and explain everythings, i just tho need to disagree with the part where you saying all the character dont have their own personnality, they got each other one, but i think it's not so much used in the s1 and s2, but for the rest of the show to my eyes they got a personnality or i would never like HTF at all...beacause i always watched htf only for the characters design, personnality and world design, that how i come with the idea to remove the gore, i was really think how amazing would be the show without this useless and boring violence ... welp, that was just my opinions tho, anyways gonna leave a like for your amazing video who resume perfectly HTF

As for the show itself, I've only remember having seen three episodes of this (the first one, the one where a character gets a candy stuck in his eye, the fisrt "Still Alive" episode that Mondo leaked on CZcams). And after watching this review, I'm glad that I never went any further, because I'm never watching it again. EVER.

I really, REALLY don't like shock value for the sake of shock value, which is why I don't like Happy Tree Friends, especially when it's extremely one-note in it's terms of "humor", which is to make the viewer feel as uncomfortable as possible. It's the same reason I'm not a fan of HotDiggedyDemon's animations, though in a different sense. Ironically, I watch several anime that are super gorey like Attack on Titan, Tokyo Ghoul and Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, and I go completely unphased by the gore scenes in those shows, or even in Rick and Morty for that matter, yet I can't sit through a single clip of Happy Tree Friends. I think it's because they're cartoon animals that it bothers me, as opposed to human beings. Doesn't help all the characters are literally the same, right down to them almost all looking the same.
Also, I'm surprised you didn't mention the infamous CZcams Copyright School video.

It was hard to watch this review, this show is just horrendous, why was this even created?!
But now to your review, I really liked it, it's good that you mentioned that these characters have no personality whatsoever and I liked how you compared it to other shows like South Park and Dick Figures.
As for the rating, it's a 2/10 for me as well, it doesn't deserve it any higher.
And for the fans of the show reading this, it's great that you enjoy this show and I hope you continue to have fun with it, but for me... Nope.

I love HTF, but I have to agree. Most deaths are too quick and have no depth. Examples of good deaths are the ones that (I am not a psychopath fyi) take longer (only in animations okay?). Example is good death is "ski ya wouldn't wanna be ya". Pretty brutal, but nothing that has bees seen before.

I agree it gets old fast.
It's basically a show for those with a certain level of sadism. That and it can be darkly fascinating or like looking at a train wreck. I wouldn't say that it lacks creativity completely, the deaths and the gore are pretty innovative- not seen much like that either. I don't think the value in the show lies with the characters itself, I'd argue that by giving them personalities or consistent characterization could make people more sympathetic towards their fates or maybe even guilty at the gratuitous violence (not about the people who cringe in disgust or sympathy with the shadows of the characters here).
The premise of the show does make me think a bit and I doubt it was made with any of the following thoughts in mind. It'd be fascinating if the characters actually remembered their deaths through the episodes and maybe even lost their personalities with the recurring violence. Or perhaps just what could it be that brings them back for another round of misery- maybe the characters are in a simulation and under the mercy of malevolent experimenters or maybe that's the norm of their universe (along with the me pondering about what could it entail for the people living in a place where even death can't reprive you of the pain of living- at least, their type of lives)
Their depictions of death and injury under different circumstances somewhat made me morbidly curious to keep watching just to see exactly what would happen in that detail. I'm not sure if this is a valid opinion, but there is the saying that misery loves company, so there might be some people that like to commiserate even if the type of pain is different. Also, this might be the stuff that gets the people who got desensitised to shock and gore from other shows - to get a kick.

I know im three years late, but the appeal for HTF for me is that the deaths are funny. Let me explain, I think the deaths are generally creative and funny. I also like the mockery of your average childrens show. Also the characters are cute. A bit counter productive, admittedly
Its also generally fun to make interpretations of the characters, like headcanons and stuff. I admittedly have to agree though, I feel like there is a possible amount of potential for more funny and interesting jokes for the show. (See the blurbs, you can kinda see the jokes i'm talking about) Hell, they could even add lore! Theres a reason Flippy's the most popular character. To me personally, the joke doesnt entirely go old. But yeah, as much as I hate to admit it I believe there is tons of potential to me that has been missed. I also agree that the characters shouldn't just be blank slates. Sadly I dont really think any interesting or creative is happening with it anytime soon, considering that the show is presumed cancelled.
Well, I am glad that this damn cartoon was off from my head, besides, I gave it enough publicity, and I would rather watch Sausage Party than this.

Honestly, the only reason I tolerate Happy Tree Friends is because of the characters' personalities. I don't know what I was thinking back then.

You can like this show but you can’t claim it’s a well constructed comedy.
I honestly love HTF, but mostly because I like the appeal, design and gore in its animation. I don’t think the writing is much of an importance, since it’s literal torture porn and that’s all it is. There’s nothing more or nothing less to get from it other than the shock value. It’s nothing too great of course. But I simply adore it and I don't think I could ever have enough of it.
I also forgot to mention that the deaths in the show aren't really humorous, though there are times where I've laughed at a few but I don't think they're intentionally made to be funny. Just unsettling, gross and horrific to view. I believe that the cute, innocent animals being so brutally massacred and torn apart in such horrific ways is the point of the show. I fully understand why you don't enjoy the show, but I just wanted to comment as to why some of the fans enjoy it.

I love Happy Tree Friends but I respect your opinion on you not liking it and I agree with a lot of the points you've made. I mean the show doesn't really make sense sometimes. And they DO need to mix they're source material. And it does get boring sometimes. But I still like the show. And I agree with the points you've made about the characters. Some characters don't really have personalities. And that's annoying. And the violence did traumitize me when I was younger. They could tone it down a bit with the violence. The violence is very disturbing

This show is one of the most Disturbing cartoons in the world.
Well, when i was 10, i found Happy Tree Friends on MTV (aired most in Europe location except UK, they aired on Comedy Central. which is because i‘m from Switzerland), i was very hyped when i saw it, but the funny thing is, i knew it when i was 6 but not seeing the show, there was a MAD Magazine, they had a Cover where Spongebob getting tortured by all these HTF characters (there‘s also a version with Kenny from South Park) but only in German. yeah it sounds like it‘s too young to watch it, but somehow until 18 now. i felt extremly lost to HTF interest, because the Dialogue is really boring, the Characters are the same, the only that i noticed is, Petunia the Blue Skunk, in the Choppy version she seems to be normal, but in the TV show she‘s afraid of dirty stuff. The content of this show are depends to their opinions with the Shock Values, no matter who likes it or not, to me i see alots of the opinions are both sides. i‘ll understand that the show is violent and gruesome, i can agree, but most of the time that i watched, it felt down. i‘m not saying that the show IS real boring, because by the taste of the viewers. i got one from my job he likes HTF and find it just funny, kinda fine but more a fun Violent thing. to me, it‘s just a cartoon, for Horror film like Saw or ABC of Death is to me the Horror, but i‘ll do agree that some of the viewer think that is violent. i stopped watching HTF not because of Gores and Violences, because it‘s always the same cycle, not only that, THAT‘S because i evolved on dA with the Fandom and this one has a Horreundus stuff going on, Strike, Art Theif (sometimes), Critizizing about Art, bashing to other people just because of this and that and more loads of things going bad on that. i drawed HTF since i was 13 years old and i turned into a Character drawer or even Designer, which is why i don‘t draw HTF anymore because it‘s Boring as hell to my opinion. The only good thing was are the Spin Off, of course they are Violent but the effects was really well done tbh but only one Problem, THEY are ONLY 4 EPISODES!. unless there‘s a Fan Cross-over with MLP also the Creepypasta MLP thing on YT, which is a little interesting than the original, it‘s always HTF but it has some Story‘s on that except from the beginning of the older ones, But that‘s a other Fact. Last but not least is the Theme Song, MY GOODNES, this one is the worst Theme song that i‘ve ever heard, i‘ll get stuck to hear the theme song because of the obnoxious singing and annoying Music, GOD i hated it, that‘s one of the reason that i cannot take it anymore, it‘s so f*cking Annoying as hell.
To Conclusion, HTF is more just a shock value for viewers to show that is just a Kids Show and after they all getting Splattered, some of the Viewers have their specific taste, i‘m not saying that‘s is good for gores and violences. they are just their opinions of this Show. so nothing special about this show to my opinion. but you guys for viewers, i can understand what you‘re saying to me or someone. i‘ll not talking about the Movie of course because it‘s lousy and stupid, not much to tell for that....

TBH it is just edgy uncreative redundant bullcrap. The character death are over exaggerated. There was a scene where an intestine it cut another character in half.

This show existed because of "Barney the Magic Dinosaur" (and to a lesser extent, Seseme Street) era. It was to take all these cute characters, and put them in horrific situations. It's pure deconsturction - which, I would think most of you are pretty familar with. In addition, this was during the age of the internet where edginess scored big points. Has it aged well? No, I'll grant you that - but it is certainly a time capsule. There is nothing 'deep' about this show.

The only episode of HTF that I like is the one with Mr Pickles because... I think Mr Pickles is funny. He kills characters, blames it on the sheep and no one believes the sheep and the sheep makes things worse. All while Mr Pickles has a nice happy smile on his face. It always has me laughing. But I've never liked other episodes of the show

Fun Fact though: the characters DO talk its just that,the creators of the series probably wanted to have it hidden as an Easter egg,Plus, there were some hidden characters in the background you can barely see them,but I agree on how they don't have personality but at leaste the show was good.. in my opinion, sure I didn't really like it when my mom showed me it at age 11 but I just saw like clips of the episodes on an outro when I was like.. 6 or something and it was a bit disturbing cuz of the blood but when I saw it more I got used to it a little,then when someone made a fnf mod of it, I got sort of interested and I now like the show qwq my mom doesn't mind me watching it cuz she used to watch it and like it too. ( and I think it used to air on Netflix until it got removed)
Great vid dude. Maybe for your next re-review you could do lion king. Sure, your thoughts could still be the same as before, but like this, it could be put into more depth. Also, there were some things you didn't explain in the original like how you felt about Simba.

I used to like this show as a kid and even had some DVDs. Now, I think it's just stupid.
I used to watch South park, but it has fallen out of my interest, but then I got into Happy tree friends, and I actually thought it was kind of good despite the violence. And all of the other shows don't attract my as much, but happy tree friends did
I dont think you are seeing the clear point of the shorts. I see and understand what you mean but see that all characters dont just die to die, they die to add on to story telling, sometimes it doesn't add to the story but it's there to give tension, personality of characters are there you just have to know how each and one of them act. Lumpy is the type of greedy, dumb business man or just regular person. This is supposed to reflect on modern life. I'm not looking to change your opinion, I just hope you can understand the show more.

I like it because I find violence entertaining. I mean there’s not usually shock. Plus I’m way younger than you yet I never found this too sickening to watch. I guess some people just enjoy violence in the most disturbing way.

These personality’s also be taken out and put back on for a Holliday episode like cuddles being a Easter bunny and not

although i kinda like the show i can see your points. i first watched it when i was in elementary school and i found it very disturbing. now i watch it when theres a reaction video to it. i find it easier to watch that way. i give your review an 10/10.

I respect your opinion and all. But the show was ment for people with a bigger sadistic side then you. By the reactions you keep showing, you don't have a strong enough sadistic side to like the show. It's fine. But I for one, love htf not just for the show, but for the community. It's easier to take in then the sonic one.

@@shawnshock8651 that's because it doesn't really need to mix it up. It's a simple show, getting right to the blood she'd. It's like showing the movie saw, but skipping the not so interesting story. Just the stuff people tuned in to see.
