    Such a lovely mandrine orange color. I love the extra effort of the little oranges and leaves. It all made a beautiful bar of soap! You've always been on of my favorite soap makers to watch, as all your soaps are gorgeous! I know you actually spend time designing each and every batch! You can feel the love you put into each bar. Believe me that is a rare thought to have with so many soapers on CZcams now. Not that I don't appreciate them all....this is just a very special channel. I come here when I feel stressed about my own soaping Journey. When I can't sleep. I'll watch the old videos and there's something very comforting about listening to your voice. I guess it reminds me of my own grandmother's voice. Believe me I have Grandchildren of my own now and my grandma has been gone a very long time. So you bring back those sweet childhood memories with just your voice. Thank you for sharing this video and this gorgeous soap!

      Thank you for watching my video! I used kaolin clay and benzoin powder to stabilize essential oils for the first few years I made soap, but find that cornstarch works much better. Also, I don't put clay in soap unless it's one that I don't want to use, since it is detrimental for my dry skin. :) ione

      Hi Tanya ~ Thank you for watching my video and your sweet comment. I used kaolin clay and also benzoin powder to anchor scents for the first few years of soap making. I can't remember where I ran across the suggestion of corn starch, but I tried it and what a difference! The ratio is .1 oz (about 1 teaspoon) for every .2 oz (2/10 oz) of EO, if you want to try it. Happy soaping! :) ione

    Orange is my favorite color and this one is beautiful. As for the red which was also lovely I was drying red geranium blooms thinking they may work as a colorant. Have not tried using it yet but it is something I want to try. 🤷‍♀️ Missed you and your creations!

      @EvesGardenSoaps  Před 2 lety +1

      Thank you for watching my video and your lovely comment. I hope your geranium blooms work nicely as a colorant for you. I haven't had much luck with plants. They've all turned brown in the lye. After watching many videos, I might try again with making an oil infusion instead of using the plant as-is. I've seen that work for some plants. Happy soaping! :) ione

    How do you use the cornstarch as a stabilizer?

    • @EvesGardenSoaps
      @EvesGardenSoaps  Před 6 měsíci +1

      Hi Jean ~ Thank you for watching my video. To answer your question, I use 0.1 oz of cornstarch (1 teaspoon) for every 0.2 oz of citrus essential oil, mixing it together and stirring frequently while I get everything ready for soap making. I've found that cornstarch works better than any clay or benzoin powder for keeping the scent in the soap. I've had the scent last for several months. Adding a small amount of citrus fragrance oil as well extends it even longer. I've had it last up to a year and over. The cornstarch gives the soap a very silky feel too! I hope this helps and happy soaping! :) ione
