I abused console commands & added an excessive amount of "Spy" cards (e.g., Thaler) & "Tight Bond" cards (e.g., Catapult or Crinfrid).
This site shows you how to allow console commands on Witcher 3 (no mod required, just need to copy/paste a line in your general.ini file):

Out of ~140 unit cards, at least 1/3 of the deck were made of Spy cards (I believe I had more than 40+ Thalers)

How to enable multiple cards through console commands, step-by-step:
1. Open up Steam
2. Go to your library
3. Right-click "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt" & click "Properties"
4. Click the "Local Files" tab at the top of the Properties window, & then click "Browse Local Files"
5. Click "bin" folder, then "config" folder, & then the "base" folder (...\The Witcher 3\bin\config\base)
6. Open "general.ini" file with Notepad - usually, it will open with notepad by default by double-clicking it. If it doesn't open with notepad, right-click the file, press "Open With", and then select Notepad.
7. Make a new line & paste the following text:
DBGConsoleOn=true
8. Boot up Witcher 3 & load your saved game
9. Hit the "~" key (or "`"... the key below your ESC key), the console window drops down & then paste this:

10. Paste it with the number of count if you want it in multiples. For example, this will give you 20 Thaler cards:

At one of the tables, your friend Hubert is having a mental breakdown as Geralt of Rivia, a well-known witcher and as it seems, another Gwent enthusiast, keeps drawing cards from a 2-feet tall stack of Gwent cards.

It was told after the tournament that every official Gwent tournament would have three new rules in place. The first was that any Gwent player could only use 35 cards in their deck, the second rule stated that you could only have three of the same cards. And the last rule was especially cruel to my friend Geralt, he was forever banned to play Gwent in a tournament setting. To this day I don't think he ever recovered from it. When I ask him of the rule, Geralt just looks at me and asks, "Wanna play Gwent?"

Don't know why they changed it, she's actually more useless than the dragon guy card if she has the ability to burn cards. You can't replay her since she's a hero card too, so now she's actually just one of the most useless cards.

She definitely was the toughest opponent in the tournament, but this way, she would have been the typical sad merchant born just to give you a card.
At least she didn't try and hit you after losing. I totally thought the elf was the guilty one. He had a quiver on his back, there was an arrow used to give the money to an accomplice, but that is just good writing I guess!

Advice on how to play the game? I assumed the smaller the deck the better (24-25 cards in my decks), but apparently bigger is better.
Good question. Before I go on, keep in mind that I used console commands here within Witcher 3 to acquire an excessive amount of Thaler & other Spy cards (which proves that you can reach absurdly high points with an excess of Spy cards as long as there isn't a deck limit).
For people who are new to Gwent in Witcher 3 (like yourself), I suggest trying to play Gwent as many different players that you can find to obtain as many cards as possible. Here is the complete list of Gwent players: [witcher.fandom.com/wiki/Gwent_players ]

And to answer your question (& for general advice), I suggest building Northern Realms deck for beginners: There is no deck limit in Witcher 3's Gwent, so having a larger deck helps when practicing the popular/effective Spy deck meta. Following these 3 criteria will help you win pretty easily.
1. Try to play as many Spy cards as possible.
2. Medic cards like "Dun Banner Medic" complements nicely with Spy cards.
3. include 1-2 decoy cards to obtain any Spy cards on your side of the battlefield (especially against Nilfgaardian deck).

It's more about deck flow. You want to be able to keep cards coming and replay discarded cards.

You can simply buy decoy cards from innkeepers (you can get a maximum of 3)

By the time o got to this place i had 4 or so spy cards. You can get 3 decoys in whiteorchard inn alone. Been too long to know where else. If you buy the cards from white Orchard she will start offering decoy cards. Which are some of the best cards on the game together with spy cards
