this was oddly specific, but sooo accurate 😂

For anyone who wants to try this recipe, when the pot gets covered with foil, put the heat on the lowest setting, otherwise your food will burn.
But do you cook for the same time (25 minutes )
@@adzz4707 better to cook it without covering untill the rice soaked up the water, then once soaked cover it with foil and cook on low for 10 mins, turn off the heat and leave for 15-20 mins to steam slowly
Thank you
@@ahmedjav6507 rice cookers cook rice perfectly every time I’d suggest one of those for quick an easy rice
@@marleyabd1729 I have a instant pot which does nice plain white rice, but I prefer to cook flavoured rice the old fashioned way.
My sister cooked jollof using your guidelines and it came out AMAZING! Our whole Najia household was in disbelief and thought she purchased it from the restaurant! It was that good!
Wow... Good to hear
I think also you can add whatever to your jollof rice..for instance shrimp...chicken. beef
.looks delicious
Not the household not believing her
Hahaha she is good.
Lol that's how you know you are not Nigerian. 'our whole naija household' lol
Thank you for this wonderful tutorial, I am a Nigerian 14 year old male trying to learn how to cook and this tutorial has definitely helped me.
You’re welcome 😊
So proud of you for learning early.
Omg ! I am literally a Nigerian 14 year old learning how to cook, but only cause my mom is forcing me to😜🤣
👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 love to hear it! Hope it turned out great
If my dad saw this comment he would say "na wow look at your mate tryna to learn our ways but you no you make white rice"
Just the way i do it but she skipped the part where she informs everyone that when you cover the pot with foil make sure you turn down the heat to the lowest setting to avoid the jollof rice burning.
I was thinking that part in my head lol
Thanks
Saw this comment after the whole pot of rice was wasted 😢
Not willing to try it again now
My jollof Rice always burn down, even when I have turn down the heat. Why??
lulu maybe you turn it too much! Or the oil might be too much
Since my mom passed I have not been able to get this recipe down. I made this today and it tasted just like hers 😭❤ thank you!
Sorry for your loss, Dear. May God continue to comfort you. Remain blessed🙏🏾
very sorry for your loss glad this recipe reminded you of your mom 💖
WHATT?!? I’m 15 and this is my first time cooking Jollof rice alone and I used this recipe. It tasted exactly like the party Jollof rice they used to cook in Salah back when I was in Nigeria 😍😍😍 Thank you so much I’m definitely going to use this recipe multiple times.

I'm Jamaican, And a VERY picky eater, I've never tried African food, but this looks ELITE KINGS AND QUEENS 😍😍

Goody try it. Ting tun up. I started my journey with this and if you eat meat, fried beef stew. Or fried fish stew.
Jamaican here too... intend on try this... looks real interesting.
It's very good. You should try make it. I watch the video and made it for myself n nieces and it came out pretty good n delicious.
I learned to make party jolof with this recipe for my Nigerian husband, he and our son love it! It’s quite difficult to cook a Nigerian recipe being European when you’ve never tasted it properly before and don’t know if it tastes fine when you’re cooking so this was super helpful!
Same here although I have a lot of experience travelling etc. it's a very good authentic recipe. Only difference is I also add ginger garlic and smoked paprika to get that Smokey flavour
Since trying this at my Nigerian friend's house, I have been dreaming about it. It is 100% the best rice dish I have ever eaten!
Gurl u need to try somali Rice its so good😭🙌🏿🙌🏿
@@yasminhussein7705 lol I've only just seen this! Is there a particular one you would recommend? Never tried Somalian food!

My son asked me to make this and watching this video for the first time, I KNEW it was going to be good. can’t believe I hadn’t heard of this! Made it tonight and 10/10! Think in this Pakistani house it’ll be one of our new favorites ❤️
I remember years ago my Nigerian co-worker had this for lunch all the time. I eventually tried it and was like gonna ask her out just so she could cook this for me all the time.
Trying that Sweet food no turning back Naja jellof rice
🤣🤣🤣🤣
It is the perfect lunch. I take it with salad almost every day for lunch 😋
Hahaha. Did she go out with you ? I wish to know how this story ends... 😅😅😅

If this is how Nigerian jollof is made then i think its the same as Ghanaian cox in Ghana we use the exact process and ingredients naija and Gh we are fam ❤
Well I was wondering the same but then the Ghanaian version I saw has veggies and meat cooked with it
Lol ofcourse.
tileb I’m Nigerian and my mum sometimes adds veggies or meat. It’s up to the individual
The ghanaian cox is extremely spicy tho
@@hassansaiddiallo lol, i really see no difference really, it depends on your spice level preferences
This jellof rice is the best jellof rice I’ve ever made from following other CZcamsrs , the instructions are so organised and easy to follow and thank for labelling the type of rice used been searching for ever .
I just made mine, it came out perfect! Ive been trying to perfect jollof for years!
Nnebuife Johnson really? So happy to hear that
@@Kikifoodies I just struggled my way through some today, wish I had watched you first. Came out with good flavor slightly too moist, but tasty. My Cameroonian friend gave me the thumbs up. Next time ill soak my rice less so I can keep my pot on the fire a little longer with out making my rice turn to mush. Great video and I like that you left quantities of ingredients in the description box.
Nnebuife Johnson awesome 👏🏾
Nnebuife Johnson do you cook the rice before putting it in the mixture or no ?
Najjah no I don’t. I wash the rice multiple times until the water runs clear

Thanks for the review!
May I know at which step should the butter be added?

I cooked this for my Indian family today and they all loved it! 😁
Im from the US but loveeeee jollof rice. This is so fire thank you!!!🫶🏾❤
The color of the rice is what drew me to this recipe. Seems like it will be full or flavor.
I enjoyed this meal today at one of my friends party, it was yammy 👍
Kiki I must say that your step by step process is on point. Tried it today and it was a blast. My roomies were blown away. Thank You
Kia! The colour alone. I think I can taste it already. Well done 👍🏽
Nel Leo same too🤤
I'm going crazy for Nigerian recipes 🌼🌼😍😍😍🥰
Made my first jollof rice today🥺 I’m so proud of myself thanks for guiding me!
I made this on Saturday for Easter after observing Good Friday. It turned out perfect. It was not too spicy or pepperish. Just the right amount. I also added goat 🐐 meat in it. I packed it in three glass bowls and I have eaten it yesterday and on Saturday. When I microwave it the flavor comes out and it is smelling all over the kitchen. I even left it out till the next day and the flavor was still there and never spoiled. I am about to have some today with goat 🐐 lean meat. Thanks to kikifoodies. Your recipe is great . It is only four mins and 12 seconds and can be watched over and over again. Also no talking on the video.
I’m a Jamaican and my Nigerian friend cook this for me at work and it’s so good
Shouts to all my Nigerians....I LOVE THIS RICE!!!!

Coming to this for the third time so had to actually THANK YOU for what is very much the perfect recipe
No long talk, no drama, good job. I like this!
I'm so excited to not only Make Jollof rice for the 1st time ever but to taste it for the 1st time ever!!!
I'm a somewhat adventurous food tasting person... I have 3 neighbors who live in the upstairs apartment of the house and I'm in the bottom apartment in the house. They are 3 Nigerian young adults who came to Canada to go to university. They have known each other most of their lives and they get along well. I just moved in 10 months ago and so far that I have noticed they have made jollof rice 3 times and every time I have to ask them what they are making because it smells so amazingly delicious and I just have to know so I can try making it myself. They finally gave me their recipe after I had asked them for a suggested recipe online... I have all but one ingredient "all purpose seasoning", also I can't eat hot spicy foods so I'm leaving out the hot peppers and they said it would be fine..
Do you know what is in all purpose seasoning? I didn't see it in the spices section of the grocery store...
The recipe they gave me is called " how to make jollof rice in 5 easy steps" by someone named Evi and the country of origin is obviously Nigeria....not Ghana as I know that there is a rivalry between them as to who invented the recipe and who makes it better..lol
If you have any advice or helpful suggestions I'd be interested in recieving them... I'm fairly certain that it's going to taste as amazing as it smells cooking...lol after reading the ingredients I'm positive that I'm going to enjoy it immensely.... mmm lol I'm so excited to try something new...
Tricia Barr hey Tricia, All purpose seasoning typically refers to Bullion cube, I.e knorr cube or maggi cube. You typically won’t find it in most stores but you’ll be able to find it online and in Nigerian stores. If you follow this recipe so the book, be rest assured you’ll get an amazing Nigerian Jollof rice. If you have anymore questions feel free to ask. I’ll expect your first ever jollof feedback hopefully soon.
@@Kikifoodies if you have any African store around you you can find it there ... but if you can't find it ... simply use other seasons like curry, theme. Maggi, and all it will still come out good ..
Wow. I love nigerian foods. This looks awsome. Thank you. Definitely i will make this ❤️🇱🇰
I'm enjoying cooking 🍳 this. I'm of 🇯🇲 Jamaican descent. Loving it. Getting a blender 🔜.
