This is a piece of kit every amateur mechanic should have very cheap for what it does highlights the problems clearly very easy to use after a bit of practice
Thank you so much! You did very good on the presentation. I ordered ...and it came in the mail. I took notes. This is a very good Tool and its colorful. By the way...just moved to Las Vegas and I passed my Smog test. Thanks again. I will be a follower. You seem to know a lot about cars.👍
Glad you like it! I love Vegas! I'll be there in November for a little vacation.
Thanks for explaining Foxwell NT 301 I love it again thank you
Glad you liked it!
Great video I just recieved my 301 and this video helped mr start using it. Thanks
Glad it helped
Basically the only video I need to watch to learning everything I needed.
very true this thing is a piece of junk
@@vart7767 hmm I have had some luck with it I guess. Very good code scanner so far. Whats so junky about yours?
I just bought this one , thanks for your video
Glad I could help!
Nice vid, bro!
Fantastic product. Have a 2003 Toyota Solara. Excellent condition. But the Check engine light comes on every ear because of the stupid co2 censor. Bought this Foxwell model. Diagnosed thats what it was. Cleared it. Cylced my car. And passed inspection! Thank you Foxwell.
Hell yeah. Glad it worked for ya!
Thx for presentation. Seems NT-301 is a scanner or reader, although useful with readily referenced DTCs, but without bi-directional capabilities? Those usually help calibrate sensors & systems. Capability distinguishing these devices.
Man I am in love with my newest investment
Pls post more Scion xB videos I really dig watching the things you do to the car
I post one every week on Toaster Tuesday's. Thanks for watching!
Nice one, you just convinced me to buy this one, cheers mate
Glad I could help! Thanks for watching!
Engine light on the Jeep been on for 2 weeks, my scanner showed up 2 days ago, just now followed what you done (didn't even read the manual), gave me a PO135 code and a description of the part I need, searched on good old CZcams to find exactly where the part is, so I'll sort it out when the part arrives, thank you so much for your very very easy to follow video, I want to thank Foxwell for giving you this to review, keep up the good work bro 👍 👍 👍 👍
Thanks! I'm so glad it helped! Thanks for watching!
I got one of these from my go to part's house ECS Tuning when my MK6 VW Sportwagon threw a code. It took a bit of head scratching to figure out how to use the thing (but I'm no mechanic) but turned out to be a MAP sensor, which is apparently a secondary result of a bad PCV valve which is apparently a common issue. I dunno, some on the 'net say this is great, and some say it's crap, but I think I already got my money's worth by ordering a $30 part that takes 15 min. to install (for a novice) vs a trip to the shop. No complaints, though it doesn't seems to be super intuitive right off. (but I'm not the sharpest crayon in the box)
Glad it worked for you! The more you use it, the easier it is to work with. I had the same issues when I first received it. Thanks for watching.
Way to go Foxwell! And great review my friend, just one question: how much live data will it show? Thanks for sharing Hoss!
It shows more than I'll ever need! Every sensor in the car that can be measured is in the live data. It's a great tool. I have used it on Honda's and BMW's with success, and BMW's typically won't let a universal scan gauge read and clear the code. Thanks for watching!!
cause of these review. i order one from amazon👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Nice! You won' regret it!
What's a good scan tool that can read whicj speed sensor went bad on your vehicle? I purchased this Foxwell but it doesn't have that feature.
02 sensors, super easy to change. #2 hookup is under the passenger side of the center console. #1, just follow the cord. Good luck. :)
Thank you! I have new ones, I just haven't installed them yet. I'll be sure to do a video on it. Thanks for letting me know the locations!
Dont forget.. "the empire doesn't care about your stick figure family" lol :P
It showed 2 possible O2 sensors bad, doesn't it tell you which one is bad ? (I doubt both are bad). Other than that, it looks very nice.
This is the only decent review I found - everything I need to make a purchase, including the amzn link. BTW, the cost is the same if I use the amzn link or not, so use the link in the description.
You and the project farm channel are the only ones that knew how to get into the code assist function with this tool on your review, thumbs up! And a like for you! All the other reviews on this tool got a 👎 from me
Obviously Project Farm is stealing my material! Lol. Just kidding. BTW, I saw that he recently reviewed code readers, but haven't had a chance to watch the video. I love that guy.
Can it tell me when to change the blinker fluid?
Thanks
Will this device allow me to code replacement parts such as the Combox (BMW)?
Tried going along with your use and my displays giving different information than yours, off to find another review
Hi mate great video my question is can the foxwell do codeing such as lights ect as what carly and blue driver does. Thanks pal Joe uk
Sorry, I'm not familiar with those other code readers. I suggest searching on Foxwell's website for the answer. Good luck!
Just ordered one. Hope it’ll clear the code for a shift solenoid for my 05 pilot
i have this scanner that i use on my 2010 toyota sequoia to clear a code for my shit solenoid...works flawlessly !...highly recommended.
upon review of my reply i noticed a spelling mistake....yes it s a shit solenoid but i really meant "shift" (oops lol)
Hey so my car needs a intake camshaft position sensor but I don’t know what bank it’s on does this machine tell you what side
I have not had that problem before, but yes, I'm pretty sure it will. Good luck.
the yellow light was on because its stating that the monitors for smog are not set yet. not because the scanner knows there's a fault. by erasing the codes you reset the monitors. its automatic, there's no way around it. just for clarification.
Does it go away
Quality presentation. How much do the software updates and added diagnostic features cost?
Please contact Foxwell directly for the answers to those questions. Thanks for watching.
Iv just updated mine free online at foxwell
Happy 420
🤣😂
Hey Man shoudnt you fix the problem before erasing the codes. great vid by the way. best ive watched so far.
It doesn't really matter if you clear it before or after you repair the vehicle. If you do it before, the code will just come back. Thanks for watching.
@@ExtremeDailyDrivers I think what he meant was..shouldn’t you fix the problem and not erase the code? But I guess in this case you are just demonstrating how to erase codes. I think it does matter if you erase the code before or after, I’m no expert but..if you fix the problem and then erase the code why would the code come back? Or am I missing something
can someone help explain how to use these scanners? I can not update mine to save my life
Can this service electronic parking brake?
Brandon I have a Ford F-150. I need to replace the auxiliary transmission fluid pump. I had the dealership check the code and I don't want to pay dealer prices for the repair. I can replace the pump but I need a scan tool that will prime the pump. What scan tool do you recommend that can prime the auxiliary transmission fluid pump?
That's a tough one. Lots of car companies are creating tech like this to FORCE you to use the dealer. It's a huge money maker for them. I would Google your issue and go from there. Good luck.
Since when has "English" been a 'unit of measure'....Foxwell, are you a unit of pressure? Great video by the way!
You know what I meant!! Lol. Thanks for watching.
does this pick up Transmission codes?
I just check my toyota camry hybrid 2010 and subaru 2008. Subaru is all good green light. Just wondering for my toyota hybrid. Yellow light is on but no codes but it show CAT AND O2S are X any help bro?
Could be time to change your cat or one of the O2 sensors. Clear it and see if it comes back.
Does this read fuel pressure?
I believe I have a glow plug fault. Would this tool tell me what cyclinder? Many thanks for a great video!
Possibly. Yes, either way, if you have an American made vehicle, you definitely need one of these. Lol.
@@ExtremeDailyDrivers thanks for reply, I'm in Scotland and I have a European car. I have since found out from a mechanic I know that the number at the end of fault code relates to the cylinder at fault. Every day is a school day 👍🍻
Sorry, I read "glow plugs" and assumed you had a Ford F350 Duelly or something. Good luck!
If glow plug sign flashing on your dashboard in most cases its not a actual glow plug issue, depends of a car maker. Manufacturers use this sign for a numerous faults, for example on Skoda(WV) could be even a break pedal switch problem(even faulty break bulbs), don't ask why is that :).
Only after you scaned the fault codes you gonna get the idea, more or less, whats the real issue with a car, good luck ;)!
@@Zdravstvujte I went to take out plugs to test them and discovered one was loose. After torquing it back down it solved priblem. I have since replaced this car. Thanks for comment though. 👍
Unfortunately it seems Foxwell may have ended support for this product. Whenever I try to update it using the NT Wonder tool, I get an error saying "Connect to internet error!Check the network please." even though I have full internet access.
same here
Just got mine; first thing I did turn off that beep.
Me too!
Haha! Haven't got into this video just yet, but watched another a few minutes ago, and was like, my god can you turn the beeping off??
Do you know if this will clear/erase an ABS light on your dash?
Unfortunately, this model will not, but I'm pretty sure they offer a model now that does.
How would you compare this Foxwell to the Nexpeak NX501? Please and thank you!
Sorry, but I've never used Nexpeak.
I hear a lot of features aren't supported by cars. Do you come across a lot of not supported messages?
No, the only one that I came across was shown in the video. Thanks for watching!
What's the best kinds of Odb2 Scanners for all kinds of cars makes and models.I want to know exactly wrong with the car before buying.Like if it need a tune up coil or gasket.I test drive the car it was ok ??
The Foxwell NT301 can do it.
Will this tell me if and what wheel sensor is bad even with no check engine light
No, but i believe they offer a scan tool that does. Check out foxwellonline.com for all of their models.
Can it clear the change oil light once you change it?
No. Follow the manufacturer's oil reset process. Thanks for watching.
Just curious what did you do to fix the code? I have a tc 2005 with the same code.
I replaced my O2 sensor.
Purchase link did not work unfortunately. Will look for this on Amazon.
Thank you. Link has been restored.
CAN YOU RUN COMPLETE DRIVING CYCLE AND THE SCANNER BEING PLUGGED UNTIL IT CLEARS?
Yes
hi sir, what is the best obd scanner but cheaper in price?thanks
You get what you pay for.
Do you prefer to buy the Foxwell NT301 today since your video posted 5 months ago...? I'm looking to purchase a good one for personal use. Thanks.
Yep. Still using it and it's still working great. Thanks for watching!
Would this be compatible with Honda pilot?
Do you highly recommend it for bmw and honda and chevrolet
If it's OBDII, then yes.
Would you recommend the blue driver obd2 reader over the foxwell?
I've never used Blue Driver, but Foxwell is the best I have used to date. Thanks for watching.
after wasting money on one of these im regretting not buying the blue scanner instead
I just bought an Autel MS906BT and this Foxwell NT301 and I swear the Foxwell is just as good for fixing problems but the Foxwell is $1200 cheaper
Ha! You can't get a better endorsement than that!
Can you use the reader without starting a vehicle like if the vehicle won’t start
It will power on, but won't read the codes. Thanks for watching.
@@ExtremeDailyDrivers if you’re buying cars to flip can you hook it up to the car that isn’t running save the data and plug it into your car that runs check the codes
@@smokysniper7514 any update on that question?
Backwards baseball cap I like it when they wear backwards chose us they know what they're doing they know what they're talkin about when they got the back the ball cap backwards I like that that guy is cute good video I like the exhaust the noise that the exhaust
All highly intelligent CZcamsrs wear their hats backwards. Everyone knows that! 🤣😂 Thanks for watching!
Does it work if the "check engine" light is not on?
Yes
Does the car have to be all the way on for it to scan
Yes
Dang so what if the car doesn’t click over will it still work
@@keontetye5025 Great question, and I wondered the same thing. Hopefully a knowledgeable person answers. 👍🏽
Does it work on a Maserati?? ive tried a few scanners and none of them work on my car.
I'm not sure. Check out foxwellonline.com for more information.
Quick question, if you erase the codes without fixing it and scan it again will it still let you know what the code/problem is?
Because I don’t want to think I fixed my car but it just bypassed it
Thanks!
No. Once the code is cleared, it won't show up until you car detects the code again.
Will the odb2 erase VSA code from a 2008 Honda pilot?
What is VSA?
Vag suc every time haha..
You can remove the ESP error (peugeot 208)??
The only to know is to try.
Does it clear airbag ligbt and brake light?
No.
will it tell me the oil temperature in a auto transmission.
I don't have an automatic. Contact Foxwell to get the answer.
NT301 is a obd2 scanner ,it can help you read emission related data so can not read the TCM system data.
Can you code the transmission control module with this devise
I don't think so. Read some of the reviews on Amazon to see if it does. Thanks for watching.
No It won't it is not only for engine and emissions codes
It doesnt have ABS and Transmission
scanner but still a great scanner to own
Great review! is that a car storage unit? how much does that usually run a month?
It was $200 a month, which included power.
@@ExtremeDailyDrivers thats a good deal! here in cali a 10x12 is probably over 200/month! without power lmao
Mine was 10x20!
@@ExtremeDailyDrivers Thanks for the info! i always wondered where im gonna work on my car if i ever move to an apartment! haha thanks for the tips! :)
Not every storage unit will allow it. Be upfront with them when you are looking.
Do you think I can use it for a crv 2006?
greetings
Yep.
Will it check the condition of a battery?
It will give you a live report of the battery's voltage output.
I was wanting to know the same thing.
So it does a bit of an emissions test for your car?!
Yes. Thanks for watching.
does this thing tell you if you have bad spark plugs?
No. It reads codes. It will tell you what the code says and possible causes for the repair.
@@ExtremeDailyDrivers thanks. just ordered
hi quick question
i scanned it and it says zero code
and live data says something wrong with hcat and air. what does that mean??? thanks!
How come you didn’t troubleshoot the problem sure you cleared the code but I didn’t fix anything and the scanner didn’t tell you exactly what’s wrong with the car how do you determine what the exact problem is
It was my o2 sensor, which is what the scanner suggested. I replaced it in a different video.
does it function for abs or airbag?
No, but Foxwell makes one that does.
Do you know if this would be able to relearn idle on a chevy?
No, it sounds like you need to visit your dealer.
Once I read the code can I reset the check engine light?
Watch the video for the answer!
I watched the video and I see that you can clear the codes. But what I asked was can you clear the check engine light and turn it off?
You mentioned nothing about that.
Clearing the code will turn off the check engine light unless it comes on to remind you of a necessary oil change. It depends on the car you drive. The check engine light can not be turned off indefinitely. It will only be turned off until you car throws the code again. I hope this answers your question. Thanks for watching.
Why does this scan tool show up on every list of AFM disablers? How can a sub $100 scan tool do something a dealership can't?
Dealerships don't hack stuff.
Does your car have to be started for it to read the codes?
Yes
no it does not just with lights on will work perfectly@@ExtremeDailyDrivers
Vid Dibs bro
Thank you!
can change the mileage?thanks
No
does it fit any car
Any OBDII car, which is 1996 and newer I think. Just google your car to find out.
Still not EXACTLY specific, i.e., gives many possibilities about "check engine light " BUT can't pinpoint THE ONE causing the problem. Correct me if I err....
No scanner will ever tell you what the exact problem is. That's what mechanics are for. However, you might be able to save some money, learn a little bit about how your car works and even repair it yourself if it's within your abilities. Either way, knowledge is power and will be saving 💰
Does this do abs bleed?
No, but I think the have another model that does.
Can this read live data?
Yes.
Let's go Brandon!
Thanks for the support!!
4:55 WTF. It doesn't mention that the catalytic converter could actually be the problem????
It's possible, but you always want to replace the cheapest part first and go from there. As it turns out, it was my o2 sensor. Thanks for watching.
Since catalytic converters have been part or the exhaust/emissions system, I've NEVER had to have one replaced. NEVER needed an oxygen sensor replaced. Not saying they can't go bad; I've just never experienced it. Two of my vehicles had over 245k miles on the original converters. My wife's car has 180k on the original one. So, in my opinion, cat converters and O2 sensors are the last thing I would suspect as being at fault unless one has been driven with the check engine light on for a very long time. One time I was told I needed a cat converter and an EGR valve. I didn't accept their diagnosis. The real fault was a disconnected vacuum line causing a lean mixture and high NOx.
just an ok video. would have been MUCH better IF you showed graphing function.
I.E. will it record graph data?
will it playback graph data? on its screen? on a connected computer?
can you print via USB to computer to printer the graph data?
looks like i'll just have to buy and try one from amazon. there i will get ALL of my own answers that you DID NOT address.. so there :-)
You are absolutely right! Keep in mind, I'm not a mechanic I'm just a average car enthusiast that knows just enough to get into trouble. For more information about the Foxwell NT301, I recommend heading over to their website. Thanks for watching.
@@ExtremeDailyDrivers well done for not taking the bait there. Very sensible in your reply. I’m happy with the video and I’m almost convinced to buy one from it. Just wanna do a little more research first. Nice job
Problem is that scanner does not scan airbags and abs.
It's not a "problem" it's just a feature that the less expensive scanners don't provide. That's like buying a base level car and then saying the "problem" with the car is that it doesn't come with heated seats.
If you want the added features you have to pay for them with a more expensive scanner.
@@ExtremeDailyDrivers You are absolutely correct. LoL
Thanks for watching!
@@ExtremeDailyDrivers Allow me to share my beef about these scanner manufacturers.
These scanners are made for average Joe and small one man type workshops, so average Joe when doing his/her homework on which one to buy looks up its spec's and what's noted is " All OBD2 Diagnostics " so Joe buys it only to find out it doesn't do SRS and ABS.
So I am attempting to find the cheapest yet broadest ability scanner of reasonable quality the has free updates due to the rare use it will be put to.
So average Joe's seek videos and information from people like yourself that are kind enough to share what they know, well done on that front.
The only complaint I have with this device is that it didn't fix the problem lol
PUE -?

Metric or English...Now that's funny.
You know what I mean. Lol. Thanks for watching.
Too complicated 😂😂😂
Let's go Branden F Joe Biden .

Can these tell you why your fog lights don't work?
No
@@ExtremeDailyDrivers thanks 😊
I always stop watching videos after about the first five “I’m going to go ahead and…” and I made it halfway thru this one
I'll take that! Thanks for watching!
I bought this same foxwell you recommend buddy. Does it test for the starter and alternator ? Or is that only the plus version of this model
I don't think so, but you could easily test that with a multimeter.
@@ExtremeDailyDrivers
I tested the battery with vehicle off and battery pushing 12.56 volts ,and when I have it on it's pushing 13.7-13.9 volts . With that reading is it safe to say the alternator is doing it's job or does it need to push 14 volts and above when vehicle is on. Any help is recommended . My Xb turns on but kind of struggles. I did not and don't have my battery symbol come on . Starter is maybe 1 ½ years old. Any help is appreciated. All lights turn on perfectly fine ,ac works, horn works . Also I do have the viper push start 5706v model installed also.
Does it erase or reset abs codes
Not this model, but they do offer one that does.
If my car is cranking but not starting, and I want to confirm that its not something besides the fuel pump; will one of these analyzers work if the engine is just cranking or if just the ignition is on? Thanks for any guidance.
It won't hurt anything to buy one a try. You'll have it forever and it's an invaluable tool.
Not a good video 😕
An even worse comment.
I was told never use them with engine running , just switch key to accessories and run the scanner
I think it will work either way. Thanks for watching.
I saw a video of this scanner saying it was too 5 to own and also claimed it does abs code also. Does it do ABS code?
Not this particular model. They offer other models that do. Just search on Amazon. Thanks for watching.
