I feel like this understands the point of the game and it's narrative. It's about the cycle of violence, the constant rage and anger, and the truly awful consequences.
You pretty much summed up the entirety of what The Last of us 2’s message was, a message *SPOILER* most are overlooking because a new character killed a widely beloved character.

MarW why? What would that solve? Nothing. Absolutely nothing. They both suffered enough. Of course people hated abby. She killed a character they we all bonded with after all these years, but Joel is not innocent, and it’s time we stop pretending like he is. Joel did what HE thought was right, but he was ultimately being selfish, because he didn’t want to let Ellie go. Them walking away at the end stops that cycle of needless suffering and revenge. If you still wanted to kill her after all that, it says more about you as a person. Don’t say the game is horrible just because y’all don’t get it, and are blinded by your bias for Joel.

@@MegumiCiBear Because if you are caught in a cycle of violence and never stop but fight trough it till the ende, than you surely won't stop at the end. Its just not human behaviour. When you are in a fight and your body is drugging you with loads of adrenaline you cant just stop. This is a fight or flight moment, if you stop you will die. Noone would be able to behave rational.

Look, if you have such a problem with the game and it's trailers that you feel the need to nitpick about a decision that was meant to create a better gaming experience for you and make what happened an ACTUAL surprise, you can do so. Just know that it won't change anything and Joel was with Ellie every step of the way in the form of an emotional burden.

She tortured and killed joel, and although i loved joel i cant say it was undeserved. he ended humanity and killed her dad. Then she lets ellie go, ellie tortures and murders many of her friends and then abby lets her go again and she still tries to go kill her.
