Love this build, recently got a Mazda 3 myself for my first car but it’s the 1.6 takuya model, looking to do some upgrades in the future and your videos with the Mazda 3 are helping me decide the parts

I race a 2nd gen skyactiv mazda 3 in time attacks and track days (some footy on my channel). I also run the same koni oranges but with tein springs. Really excellent shocks that can take a beating. Have a couple ideas to help the understeer if you haven't already:
max out your front camber if you haven't already (should be able to get around 1.5 degrees without camber plates) and around 1 - 1.5 rear. I think I'm running the same corksport rear sway bar as you too, I run it with the stiffest setting but you might not need to get rid of understeer depending on what kind of spring rates, camber and tires you're running in the back. That sway bar is a great upgrade.
You can also try disconnecting the front sway bar for autocross (I've never tried this but a lot of guys running FWD cars swear by it).
Finally if the car really doesn't want to rotate on a tighter course, throwing some toe out at the back (about 0.5") should help. Just don't do anything high speed with that and def don't daily it with the rear toe (if you decide to try it).
Oh and you're so right about going to a good 200 TW tire. I just switched from a 300tw street tire to the falken RT615k+ 200tw tires and the difference is night and day.
Hope a suggestion was helpful in case you haven't tried one of them. Mad respect for this build. I dont think I've ever seen someone put this much into the 2nd gen skyactiv chassis but it's so good to see, as these chassis are slept on and an awesome alternative to cars like the ep3 civic si. Looking forward to seeing what's next on this build 🔥

I have a 2L Mazda axela sport (which is a Japanese market Mazda 3 ) .after watching this video I'm confident enough to go out and get Koni springs as well as transplant these other headlights I saw on a totalled 2013 Mazda 3

Damn how much horsepower does it add if the driver has such a pointy mustache?

A lot!! 😂😂😂 But mostly helps with downforce with such pointy aero on the front lip!! 😂😆😂

Do you have wider wheels, wheel spacers, or something else thats giving you a flush car to wheel stance?

Love the setup with the Koni shock/struts. Had that previously on another 3 that I had. Can I make a suggestion that might help with chassis flex?
Add chassis bracing. Front/rear strut bars, rear torsion bar, control arm torsion bar, center torsion bar. It stiffens the car up and helps keep the car better planted on wet or dry pavement.
A company called whiteline makes great chassis bracing.
My previous 3, when going up a driveway at an angle, I could balance the car on 2 tires. It was great!

That's awesome! Thanks for the feedback I'll defiantly look into that!! It sounds like it could help a bunch! Thanks! 👍

I'll second that - especially on a hatchback, rear strut tower braces make a big difference (sedans have a big metal parcel shelf that stiffens up the rear end)

These front springs are so short that you don't have to get spring compression tool :)
