This game is massive and could determine whether we win our first trophy in ages or we don’t. Conference league is a very winnable competition and if we win it whoever is in that squad will be remembered forever
We definitely need 3 massive points on Sunday and hope the other result go our way then we just have to wait and see where we are at end of the season and hopefully next season we will not have so much injuries and have more depth to the squad

Fergie finished 11th the first 3 seasons then 14th at Man U. We need to give howe time. 4th last season. We're near Chelsea who've spent WAY more than this. Good start.

As a thought - what I find so bizarre is some fans whinging about Eddie, medical staff and coaches not looking after the players welfare and mistakes made - then you get another bunch saying Joelinton and Pope need to start...🤣no win situation. It's been a season of learning for sure - but horrendous injuries have played a major part and I'm happy that Eddie and the boys have navigated it so well that 6th/7th/8th is quite something.
It’s not negative it’s realness. And it was a game to secure Europe and we didn’t start our best players. Who do you out the injuries down to then if not the medical team. Cause no club gets 15 injuries because they are just unlucky

Alex the young keeper was Jude Smith from Celtic , but he is on the release list from u21’s in June
I can only see up to 5 keepers in the world who would AUTOMATICALLY bench Pope. But they’re too high in the sky for us and all are well employed. Ramsdale defo isn’t one of them

I think we have to break this cycle of fans thinking they know more than the manager, and making comments based on assumptions rather than factual evidence. If Eddie played 'favorites' then surely he would have been replace Dubs as soon as Pope was fit to make the bench.
I have ideas on WHY Pope may not be playing (but again, am NOT in the know).
1)Although Pope may be fit enough to play, there may be an increased risk in doing so. We are not privvy as to what the medical team have advised, and they may have suggested that leaving him off (unless in an emergency) would decrease the chance of a repeat injury. We also are not aware of how Nick has done in training........
2) The last time Pope played it was with an established back 4 of Burn, Shar, Lascelles and Tripps. The current back 4 have been set up to fit in with Dub's style of play, and only Burn (and this week Tripps) have played with Pope in a more forward pressing system. Could it not be that Eddie has concerns with the current back 4 adapting to a new keeper and style of play?
I know folks (like me) are frustrated, but I have to believe there are things going on that we as fans have no idea about. Trust in Eddie, trust in the process!
Obviously,hoping (rather than expecting) for a win tomorrow;but realistically at most,a draw tomorrow with a draw in MUFC's fixture,will get NUFC over the line into the 'crucial' 7th spot,because of our stronger GD stat ! 😐

Their front 3 is canny bloody good TBF.
Of course we're all on the fence with Barnes as we've barely seen him this season. He's never really been fully ready and we shouldn't be judging him.....yet. he needs proper time with consistent games where he actually has a chance to be coached in this team, and then we'll see what he can do. We've had small glimpses, and there's definitely a good player in there

We're just obsessed with press conferences cos we expect new info every 5 mins in social media era. We used to get nowt. Let Eddie coach the team, I don't blame him not being excited about answering the same questions two or four times every week. He's a coach not a spokesman, and his priority when speaking is giving nowt away, not entertaining or informing us.

Difficult to imagine us paying 40 million or so for a goalkeeper when we arguably have one just as good or better (Pope). The only issue would be if the medical staff have some doubt about Pope's injury but in that case, why would he even currently be on the bench in preference to Karius? Aspects of the Ramsdale rumours do not make a lot of sense.

Eddie sees the same things we do in Dubravka but I sense he is balancing whether Pope is fit enough to start, when Pope signed for us Eddie put him straight in so he sees the ability difference. However if Pope not fit he shouldn’t be on the bench.
Is Ramsdale gona be a PL winning keeper? no chance, Bento the Brazilian keeper or I'd love Kobel the BVB keeper just shows the difference a monster in goal gives an average team UCL final for BVB. Karius was done very dirty by EH never given a look in. Do you lads think there was more to Ashworth jumping ship? Disagreements with EH over signings, internal control issues?
Yeah it's crazy we're after Ramsdale when we already have a top keeper in Pope

Guys if you have been following Newcastle and football for as long as I have then you will understand. This is a multi billion dollar industry. It will be absolutely stupid for the manager to speak candidly about his team. what that does is directly give the opposition an opportunity to exploit weaknesses. press conferences are just formalities nothing more.

I don't understand all of this "in the know" stuff about Bruno going to City. Why would a guy, who might only be interested in winning titles, go to a team that will certainly be relegated (and maybe DEEPLY) for a couple of years when the FFP penalties eventually are levied (pls save your comments about City's innocence)? What good does that do him when he has alternatives?
Just watched it really hope howe goes with his strongest players ,like the idea of joe and Anderson if Gordon doesn't make it,this is so important for players playing for future and keeping important players so Europe is a must for me ,howe will be seriously looked at if we don't make Europe, and i do want him so stay because we play better football the Ashley days so we are improving and we do need to be patient, up the toon 🖤 🤍
