4:33 Zinc is incredibly important
Today we're going to talk about why the coronavirus causes the loss of smell.
Some coronavirus symptoms:
⢠Fever
⢠Tired
⢠Cough (dry)
⢠Shortness of breath
⢠Sore throat
Recently it has been found that there can be an additional symptom, and it's the loss of smell. The medical name for a loss of smell is "anosmia." You can also have a loss of taste.
What might cause this to happen?
There is a certain enzyme that's involved in your perception of smell and taste. It's called carbonic anhydrase 6. This essential enzyme for the sense of taste and smell is zinc-dependent. Big symptoms of a zinc deficiency are actually a loss of the sense of smell and a loss of the sense of taste.
I think the reason for the symptom of a loss of smell could be a zinc deficiency. When you go through an infection, especially in your lungs, you use up a lot of zinc. Zinc is not stored that well in the body. So, unless your constantly consuming zinc, chances are you're going to be zinc deficiency. On top of that, with an infection, you could be even more zinc deficient.
Potential anosmia causes that could be connected to zinc:
⢠Upper respiratory infection
⢠Nasal polyp
⢠Idiopathic hypogonadotropic hypogonadism
⢠Hypothyroid
⢠Antibiotics
⢠Diabetes
⢠Cushing's syndrome
⢠Cadmium poisoning
⢠Zinc deficiency
⢠Kallmann syndrome
⢠Primary ciliary dyskinesia
A loss of smell could potentially be because of a zinc deficiency. Taking zinc might not only help improve the sense of smell, but it also might help increase the strength of the immune system. Overall, zinc is a vitally important mineral.

I was not able to smell or taste anything for 2 weeks after I was tested positive for covid. During those two weeks, I did steaming daily and also took Vitamin C and Zinc tablets which were really effective. During the third week, I was able to smell strong smelling substances like deo, nail polish, camphor, etc and I got my smell and taste back gradually. It's been a month now and both my senses have been restored back to normal. I can smell and taste 100% now đ . Wishing everybody a speedy recovery đ
I had the exact same experience with a bad colds. What a coincidence.
Did it ever occur to you that it was the test itself that caused the harm?
I lost 100% of taste & smell in late 2019, and... pretty much lost my 'life' (and friends/@$$ociates) shortly afterward, so... yeah.
Now, i just 'exist'. Yuck. đ
EDIT: I neglected to note that I DID recover around 80-90% of taste & smell after about 3-4 months (I took many actions, none of which I'm certain helped or not), but... it all doesn't really matter--my health/endurance will never be the same. Hard to explain.
Also, to be *crystal* clear: this was PRIOR to COVID-19 being officially announced, prior to testing, and (obviously) prior to any c19 vaccines. No one believed that I was extremely sick, not even my (now ex) gf. Everyone just thought I was pathetic, lying, weak, whining, etc., lol đđ¤Łđ fĂ¢k1Ď⏠unscientific aÂŽ$3h01e$.
I knew it was going to be a global issue as early as January/February. đ Everyone ghosted me in early 2020, because I was 'fake news', lololol
Guess how many apologies were given? Big hint: as many election votes which were fraudulent. đ
Still can't smell or taste since Mar 2020 thanks coof

Iâm 57 years of age and I distinctly remember cold viruses causing a loss of taste and smell when I was a child, so this makes perfect sense.
I have had bad colds and flu before, as well as numerous sinus infections that all caused a diminished sense of smell and taste. But this is the first time I have ever had a complete loss of smell and taste.
Me too, I thought it was a normal reaction to getting sick, and this year everyone is freaking out itâs wierd

Happy birthday Dr. Berg! Thank you for your hard work! I've shared the video with my loved ones!
WOW!! SIMPLE EXPLANATION AND TO THE POINT. THANKS DR BERG.
Dr Eric, personally I have learnt a lot from you. Your videos have really impacted my life in a positive way. With all that's happening you've been very informative to me & my family. May God bless you & have yourself an awesome birthday.
October 2018 I had a very horrendous sinusitis episode (I guess) with fever, chills, sore throat, shortness of breath and severe neck pain ( I also have degenerative disc disease in my neck and back which flared up like a mofo during this). Went to an Urgent care facility, they swabbed me for flu and strep, which were negative. Prescribed antibiotic, took it all, recovered as expected with one alarming feature..I couldn't smell. Anything. At all. Went to an ENT, had a scope done and a ct scan, all looked fine. I was told it may take a while to get my sense of smell back. The past year and a half without smell has been very hard, depressing. And dangerous. I cant smell food burning so I have to be really focused when cooking. I'm sure I wouldn't be able to smell a fire. Or a gas leak in the house. I have monitors now though. I have taken zinc supplements for 6 months now and I think a small percentage is returning. I can smell sweet scents, like the vanilla scented trash bags, but all sweet things smell the same, like the scented trash bags đ. I cant smell bitter, or sulphur (one caveat, cant smell the dog farts! Lol ), or sour, so I cant smell if a food has gone off. And the way its affected my taste is really depressing! Sweets, believe it or not, gag me. I enjoy tart, salty, savory stuff but even with those there isnt any nuance of flavor, its one dimensional. There are so many smells I miss...the smell of rain, fresh air coming through the window, pine trees, fall leaves, favorite perfume, my husbands warm skin as he hugs me, coffee brewing. Well, I'm near crying now so I'll shut up. Good luck all.
How are things with you now?
I got COVID the first time the last weekend in Jan. 2020 but my smell was heightened at the onset, which made me nauseous and didn't help the vomiting. I can't remember if I lost my sense of taste or smell after that...BUT the second time I got COVID second week of Jan. 2022 I lost my sense of taste and smell on day 6 or 7 and it freaked me out so bad because I could breathe through my nose the entire time I was sick. I felt panicked...it was so awful. Fortunately within 3 more days it started to return...still dealing with a little fatigue and cough a month later. đŁ
Natural immunity worked for almost 2 years. Interestingly enough I had an upper respiratory issue and stomach bug in 2018 and 2019 before COVID 2020. In the last 5 years, 2021 has been the only year I didn't get sick. Six times with the same two illnesses in five years. More times sick in last 5 years than in the 52 years before. đ¤ Is it age or something else?
I hear you, it's starting to really bug me!!!!!
December 2020 caught covid and my sense of smell and taste are so not the same anymore. Can't smell spoiled food..... smoke...body odors... my favorite scents are just a memory now. Most smells are distorted like for instance coffee grounds in which I use to love. My taste isn't so bad though but still not like before the covid got me.

Wow, this video is so timely for me! I was pretty sick for about 2 weeks, starting on Christmas, and am most of the 'way back' now, except for smell and taste.....they are coming back slowly. I'll definitely start back on zinc!
I've had this but due to asthma/dust allergy since 2015. It's good to know this. Sometimes i dont have smell & taste, and sometimes these senses are altered, meaning things smell and/or taste to something different
Pretty sure I had corona. Two weeks ago I had a mild fever and body aches and pains which lasted about 2 to 3 days. Then a few days later I lost my sense of smell and taste for around 7 to 10 days. They finally came back yesterday. The weird part is I wasn't even stuffed up like with a cold or flu.
You know the coroavirus is cause of the cold and flu đˇđ¤§ which magically disappeared replaced by now everything COVID?
@@kingjohnny7215 lol, the cold and flu are still around but have been greatly reduced because of most people wearing masks, social distancing and washing their hands more frequently.
A plague that requires a dangerous mrna vaccine, for a hypothetical virus that only lasts for 2-3 days and 7-10 days of loss of smell, and you're still alive? A plague kills you, you do not live, yes you had the flu, I've had same symptoms years ago, it wasn't COVID, a real flu makes you pretty sick, a heart patient gets the flu they usually get pneumonia, bronchitis, it can get serious, you know how many people died from the flu in prior yrs, hundreds of thousands, they didn't count it on tv. You know a county corner gets 13k for every COVID case tested even false positive, hospital gets 29 k for a COVID hospital admission, 39k if they get them on a ventilator, it incentivized by money, and the secret vaccine contracts are in the billions, indemified by the government you cannot sue a vaccine company no matter what happens even death. COVID is an IQ test to see who's programmed by their tv mass media government, to induce fear to overcome vaccine hesitancy , it's on the world economic forum website, it's in the Rockefeller lockstep documents it's all online hiding in plain sight. Why do you think they call it television programming? It programs you, only plandemic if everybody turned off the tv the plandemic would end. Smh
Coronavirus has always been it's nothing new, this COVID they've concocted actual follows the computer model of SARS but as I stated before, not been replicated in a lab, only on a computer. It's a computer model of a hypothetical sars virus. You have zero proof of what you had, coronavirus regular cold and flu, but no way you had a hypothetical model of a SARS virus that's NEVER been proven or replicated in a petrie dish, only on a computer program .
@@alrivers2297 al go onto your phone, go into settings, scroll down to google settings and preferences you can turn your tracking on or off, but it's always on unless you have zero power source or remove the sim card, your phone is the tracking device and everybodies phone was updated very early in 2020 with this tracking program that coordinates satelites artificial intelligence to your sim card, unless you use faraday pouch or leave your phone at home you are tracked 24/7 long as you have that phone near you. It's really george orwell covid1984 , the world is changed forever and this will never end, there are 4-5 vaccines planned for every year into 2050, the documents are online. Vaccines meet 17 of the 20 sustainability goals under agenda 21 agenda 2030, agenda 2050, it's all planned. One world government , cashless society, life as you knew it is over.
I lose smell very time I get a head cold until recently. IF, Apple cider vinegar, coconut oil, diatomaceous earth must be working as last couple of times cut the healing time down by half and could still taste and smell.
Lost my taste and smell about 4 days into covid illness. It's been over a month and I was trying everything! Nothing worked until I came across this video and started taking Zinc. Took it with dinner 2 days ago and woke up smelling stuff I hadn't in a long time, tasted my toothpaste for the first time and started tasting food. Amazing! If you are struggling with this same side effect start taking ZiNC. Hope it works for everyone as it's a struggle for sure. Thank you for this video it has changed my life!
Most welcome! Glad it helped!
Wow I had no ides why people lose their smell with that infection for lack of Zinc! Thank you Dr. Berg! GOD bless you..I really enjoy your classes on healthy lifestyles! I feel like i'm in a healthy medical school learning a lot!
