Well, Raimi didn't write Spiderman 2 but he absolutely had a better writer for that film and he had proper control over how the scene would be played, working with the actors and even changing lines to best suit them if necessary. He also chose those kids because they're related to Toby Maguire, so they already had a natural bond with him and each other. If anyone was given too much control in Dr Strange 2, it was the screenwriter, who has proven to have no discipline and struggles with coherency and consistency in his work. He basically was allowed to write whatever he wanted, which proved a bad idea.. The very fact that Wanda was the villain was his idea, despite the fact that she was supposed to be saved for a later film. But he in his own words "wanted the better villain." And Disney Just let him, even though it messed up what little plans they had for the future. It shows there's no communication anymore and no one in charge of the overall plot. Just look at how the rules he has set in this film, now makes Gamora the biggest threat to the universe, due to "incursions." But if you bring that up to a Marvel producer/writer/director, they won't have a clue. It was also written Just when everything shut down over coronavirus and after a couple of drafts that were written without adequate time and all got thrown out, he literally wrote it as they were shooting. So even if he was a half decent writer, the circumstances alone were terrible for any writing project.
This isn’t in a Sam Rami movie, but one of my favorite Spider-Man moments is in Tasm1 where he goes to save a kid from a car that’s going to fall into the river. The kid is scared, but Spidey takes off his mask to let him know everything is gonna be all right. He then has the kid believe that putting on his mask will make him strong, so that the kid will build up the courage to climb out of the car. The scene felt like how a child in that dangerous situation would act. I love how Spidey uses his childish beliefs to save him. I also love how they use that scene to develop Spider-Man’s character. He doesn’t truly become Spider-Man until he starts prioritizing saving people over his vengeance, and that started when he saved that kid. That one scene represented kids better then any phase 4 Marvel movie.
And yes, I am aware that a scene similar to that exists in Batman Beyond. But to my memory, Batman didn’t use the kids childish beliefs to save him or have him put on the mask. I think they’re different enough.
In the first clip, it’s almost like the kids were smaller human beings with the same kinds of feelings and complexity that larger human beings have. Huh.
REMEMBER THAT SCENE IN SPIDER-MAN 2 WHERE PETER'S GONNA FALL TO THE FIRE & THE BABY GIRL HELPS HIM TO CLIMB UP *That & Jack climbing in Tasm1 show us there's a hero inside of all of us*
I work with children around the age of Wanda's boys in MoM -- and let me tell you that those types of kids hardly exist, and the ones that do get bullied _real quick_ if they act even 50% like that. It's a harsh environment for sure, but it's a necessary harshness as long as it doesn't go too far. Also, I get the feeling the boys who played her kids were probably bullied relentlessly for this scene -- and for that, I feel sorry for them.
I'm a teacher and I assure you, bullying, or more specifically teasing and mockery to those being dumb or ridiculous, plays a valuable purpose in society. I'm also a millennial, so part of the first generation to grow up with bullying being (mostly) outlawed after Columbine happened (the first major school shooting in America.) What do you get in a world without bullies? Social justice warriors, Blue Checkmarks, and Redditors. Bullying matters in society; just keep it to words and not physical.
I don´t understand why wanda was searching for 2 kids, which were not even real. Shouldn´t she look for a unverse in which Vision is still alive, and lost his Wanda ?
I think you should retitle the movie to "Alvin Sargent vs Michael Waldron on handling children" While Sam Raimi had more control in Spider-Man 2, he didn't actually write the screenplay for Spider-Man 2. The only Spider-Man film he ever wrote was Spider-Man 3 Alvin Sargent was the sole screenwriter for the movie, based on a story created by Alfred Gough, Miles Millar and Michael Chabon. Dim, if you see, just to let you know... this title is really misleading... Or at least retitle it to "Sam Raimi vs Kevin Feige"
Yeah Dr Strange 2 is Not a true Sam Raimi film. People need to understand that there's a difference between a Sam Raimi film and a Disney film that they got Sam Raimi to direct. If he was truly helming the film, as well as being tempered by trusted and genuinely talented collaborators in the writing and producing aspects, it would've been a very different film. It's not a Sam Raimi film. It's a modern marvel *product* through and through, with absolutely no consistency or coherence in its own story, let alone trying to connect to the rest of the franchise. If anyone was given too much power, it was actually the screenwriter, who doesn't know the meaning of the words consistent or discipline. He was able to make Wanda the villain, despite the fact that he knew she was being saved for a future film, because he "wanted the better villain." This shows a startling lack of discipline. And despite the fact that he also wrote Loki, which is also inconsistent and pandering garbage on its own, he couldn't even be consistent between the two. And then there's the rest of the MCU. For instance, they're never going to address the fact that, by the logic established in Dr Strange 2, Gamora from Guardians of the Galaxy is now a major major threat to the entire universe. But if you bring that up to any Marvel writers/producers/directors, they won't have a clue what you're talking about because there's no longer any communication or plan for the franchise and it shows.

That's a touching scene and all from Spider-Man 2, but would anyone really know who Peter Parker is? What would you tell anyone; he's a 20-something white guy with brown hair living in New York? "That only narrows it down to 900,000 guys, I suppose."
That’s why Sam Raimi should’ve wrote Doctor Strange 2 and why Feige should’ve given him more control.
