I am watching this 52 years later and two days after HM passed away ..We travelled from a little country town (St.Marys) about 130 km from Launceston on a steam train that day and we were in the crowd at Town Hall . I was ten years old then.. I will never forget that day..God Bless Elizabeth ll

Brilliant coverage of a memorable royal tour to Tasmania by Her late Majesty and her family.

During the state reception at the Hobart Town Hall the Lady Mayoress tripped on her ball dress as she was presented to Her Majesty and fell flat on her face at the Queen's feet. The ABC quickly swerved the cameras away from this disaster but the poor Queen had a very difficult time keeping a straight face and the rest of the official party almost suffocated from the effort of trying not to laugh.

Obviously wasn't here then, so fascinating to see, shame they never got up here to the North I bet Charles & Phillip would have been fascinated by the agriculture - although I don't suppose the ports were as pretty as they are now, in 2020...
