- My 'fan-made' video for 'Greenman".
XTC's 'Greenman' was a standout track on their 1999 album 'Apple Venus Vol. 1'. The band at this time was the completely studio based duo of Andy Partridge and Colin Moulding, who set about creating lush, layered soundscapes, never intended for live performance. The result was one of the band's greatest works in their long and expansive career. It ultimately proved to be the first of two final shots from their pop pistol.
The video I made loosely combines references to the four elements, Earth worship and our history of anthropomorphising nature's wonders and calling them gods.
I tried to stick closely to the band's intentions for the song's meaning. Please enjoy!

WOW, I just saw a video of me performing this song in a little ice cafe where the greenman was the theme of the place. I finally found this song. I was so young back then not understanding the text but now I do, I think that I am going to try to find out more of the history, its so beautifull!

It's visually stunning. I agree with you that this is a stand out track on Apple Venus when I heard this song I thought about people riding camels in the desert looking at a starry sky but you made a very spot on video of XTC's Greenman, well done!

Love tzhis video. Been a fan of the song for years, but this video is excellent. Can you provide a list of sources for the video? I recognize the Outlander footage, and Twink the Faeire, but would love to know where else the footage comes from.
Honestly I made it so long ago, I can’t even remember where I got most of the shots. I searched many different topics based on themes I heard in the song such as “forest sprites” and “lantern dancing” but I couldn’t be more specific tbh!
This is just superb! Loved everything other than the imp with the pan flute shot doesn't seem up to the quality level of lighting, costume, etc, as the rest of it, but it's still good.
You're right. I would do a few things differently looking back at it again, but unfortunately I don't have all the original segments saved anymore.
