  • Since the Tough Cut is a fairly popular Ventrac attachment, I thought I would make another maintenance video on how to change the serpentine belt.
Have a suggestion? Please leave it in the comments below. Heck, you can even send me a text and if I have time, I'll even call you back. Please like and subscribe to our channel for more Ventrac videos

Today while my dad was mowing with our Ventrac 4200 a stick jammed up under the guard that protects the belt and that undid the belt. After getting the belt untangled your video was a great refresher at helping us remember how the tensioner works! Thanks!!

Bradley; CZcams tossed this "oldie" back onto my suggested to view selections this morning, so I watched again. You did a great job of this and of explaining. I managed to cut my "serpentine" belt when it was fairly new and had to go by the book. It looked confusing, but was pretty straight forward. I suggest routinely checking the spindle and idler bearings by finger spinning the sheeves while any belt is off. Happy New Year to you and yours!

Excellent explanation!! Spindle replacement is one I would like to see a video on. Looks pretty straightforward on the rough cut deck but on my finish desk (HM602) the frame is in the way and you can't get a pulley puller on 2 of the 3 pulleys.

I've never had to replace a spindle in all the years I've been putting my Tough Cut through abuse. If I ever do, I'll make a video of it. I did need to replace a spindle pulley once

@@bluecordprecisiongrading2504 you must be doing it right on your maintenance then. I bought what I thought was a low hour deck but don't think the spindles were ever greased and when it locked up the keyway in the spindle shaft practically welded itself to the pulley and bushing. I was able to get all spindle bolts out (chore as they under pulley) and thought I could just punch out shaft from pulley letting spindle drop below deck freely. No go as I tried a sledge, and air hammer and ended up having to use cutting torch to turn shaft and center of pulley into liquid magma to get it apart in order to replace.

I noticed my tough cut leaves a strip of uncut grass when I’m mowing slopes. Any idea what it could be? The tractor doesn’t bog down, my main drive belt isn’t slipping, and my blades are in good condition. It seems like it happens to both sides of the deck, but usually the downhill side

Just used this video to unscramble my brain lol. Kind of neat when it all fell into place.

My brand new belt keeps popping off and the tensioner is as tight as I can get it. Any advice?

I think I would have replaced all the belts at the same time When you have it opened up

The small belt on the right pulley is easy to change with no tools necessary. Unlike the main belt, if that one happens to go it's a quick fix

Have you had problems with the large pulleys failing? We have had the weld at the hubs fail on us on 3 pulleys. Currently waiting on a replacement pulley and belt.

Mark, I've only had one pulley crack in all the years that I've been working the deck hard! I'm very pleased with how tough the Tough Cut is

Not trying to be a A Hole or anything but I believe that it's called a V belt not a serpentine belt. Serpentine belts are known to be flat and has multiple ridges. Just wanted to put this in there so it didn't confuse anyone.

The belt is actually a B162 currently manufactured by Goodyear. "Serpentine" is not necessarily a belt type but rather denotes a belt that connects numerous pullies
