    Consider marking all the grease points with neon sticker dots. Get a Lube Shuttle grease gun with a LockNLube tip. Makes life much easier.

    There are a couple of those grease points that are easier to access if you wait until you change the oil filter. When the oil filter is off it allows for a little more room to work as well.

      I have been told that by another owner too, Trouble is, with mowing and the dust, pollen, and chaff I need to grease even more often than the scheduled 50 hours and the oil change interval is 100 hours.

      I was also given this tip years ago from over on the TractorByNet Ventrac forum. It did help a bit on my then power unit with just dual front hydraulic couplers; but I installed the additional front couplers to operate other implements and that arrangement blocks right side access. I access the front drive shaft zerk from the left with the zerk at about 5 o'clock and doing so by feel coursing the grease hose down and back up. I can not go 50 hours on greasing either due to mowing and sweeping becasue of chaff and dust.

    I still haven't lubed my front drive shaft comfortably. I've only really be able to attach solidly to the zerk once and even then it didn't appear to go into the zerk. Any secrets to accessing this point?

      Are you talking about the one near the base of the radiator fan?

      I agree, both are extremely difficult to get to.

    Take care to get the grease gun fitting squarely and firmly onto the zerk. This is pretty tricky on that front drive shaft fitting and even in this video is looks like almost all of the lube really exited to the outside of the zerk.

      Locking grease gun fittings are available.

      @@JosephGreenleaf I have a couple of the lockers, but neither will come even close to accessing the front drive shaft fitting on the 4500 Ventrac. Even if Houdini got one on there, he might drown before getting it back off. ;-)

    I have a 4520P and the zerk under radiator has a U shaped cover now that blocks any access to the zerk. Mine is a bought it 2024, I wonder if this ushaped cover needs to be removed now?

    Would appreciate knowing what quality/std grease should be used? Is same grease suitable for the mower deck?

    After spending $ 23,000 I can't afford a grease gun.

    This works well if you have small hands. My hand doesn’t fit in there 😂, but we did find a solution... Where are you located Rooster

    That super hard to reach drive shaft fitting where you have to go under the radiator has been impossible for me…I don’t think I have ever got grease to that point. Is there an easier way or special tool that can help? I get the nozzle of the gun there but can not get enough pressure on it to connect! 😣

    • @ventrac
      @ventrac  Před rokem +1

      Make sure you use a grease gun with at least a 13 inch hose. You should be able to reach it while the tractor is flat as the video suggests. You could try using ramps or get it lifted off the ground for easier access. Make sure this is done safely if you choose to do so.

    are the driveshaft geese fittings accessible from under the machine if you put it on a lift?

    • @ventrac
      @ventrac  Před 4 lety

      Actually, that would probably make it harder to access.

    • @rooster3019

      @@ventrac I suggest more of these videos. The service schedule mentions several tasks to be routinely done, such tasks NOT covered in the owner's manuals' instructions. Such as "changing the fuel lines" periodically or "cleaning the fuel tank" periodically. Ventrac is GREAT about online manuals; it would be wonderful if Ventrac put the Shop Manual online or sell itlike Honda Americal motorcycle does. For able DIYs it would be a great help. For less mechanical owners it would help in realizing the task and justificaton of expense for dealer service.
