Competition is a good thing for consumers. Having an unbiased, 3rd party validate manufacturing claims or provide head-to-head comparisons on video for everyone to see is even better for consumers. Thank you!
Between these guys and project farm, they answer a LOT of questions most of us have about our tools and equipment.
“We’re gonna test that!”

I use dewalt just cause that's what's at the jobsite. But it's food too see someone who isn't so "black vs white " A tools a tool and I'm glad each side is getting better and better. Cool to see someone open minded. If batteries weren't a issue I would use all kinds of different tools

@@AATreeService Yes, the mid torque as they call it. A very excellent impact wrench, indeed. However, it is not nearly as compact as the stubby (and this DeWalt, I would assume).
All of my cordless tools are DeWalt but I'd be just as happy with Milwaukee. As with all things, it began with that first purchase that got me invested in the battery system.
Good to hear someone say the truth instead of being a fan boy. I feel moat people stick to a brand because they have the batteries and back it up by fanning over tbe brand
Also the 20V cell type batteries are easily rebuildable with no pesky electronics inside. I won’t upgrade to powerstack because those batteries are landfill when they go bad.
Yep same here
Thanks for the shout. You’re making me spend more money fam, well I guess you can never have enough ugga duggas
Blame DeWalt! :P
Never enough ugga duggas!
I'm a milwaukee guy but it's nice to see dewalt finally putting some pressure on milwaukee in the impact wrench market. Only going to make milwaukee step up their game again
Same here brother but the question is durability and efficiency of DeWalt almost 3yrs using M18 and m12 impacts and still in top notch performance
Iknorite! It's about time. I bet you are excited for next year!
Still, Makita is the brand to beat. Reminds me of German premium cars, most people want to talk about who is in the 2nd and 3rd place, Merc or BMW, when they can just skip ahead to the no1, Audi.
@@pflaffik in regards to power yes, but the vertical battery on the m12 stubby makes it in a league of its own.

Love the Channel...👍 I have the DeWalt dcf923 3/8" impact wrench and love it , it seems that Timber mode is just a little bit faster out of the gate than the #2 speed and that does help a bit when driving bigger fasteners like Timber Locs or Lag bolts , but that's it , with smaller nuts and bolts you can't even tell the difference .......
Competition really makes brands incorporate new technology and man is it great! Thank you for the content guys!
Then they should try to beat Makita, instead of surrendering and only try to be Best Of The Rest.
Upgraded from an older 18v kit. czcams.com/users/postUgkxW1vOBRCMrgTCDEijzpVzDWsgI-Jm2iQv I independently chose the drill and impact tool, before I came across the kit.I like the 3 speed impact gun. It seems more powerful than my older one, and it can be set to be really gentle. The drill is more appropriately sized for my use. I used to have a hammer drill, but I did not like that it was so big and it was not a great hammer drill. I rather have a smaller drill like this, and then get a corded hammer drill for the odd case I need that.
You make good, reliable tests.
Follow your channel from Europe, thank you for indicating the torque in Nm as well 👍😉
Thanks guys for what you do you're awesome I'm on my way to go get the new 20 volt Atomic right now lol love it
I have the dcf890 3/8 just got the 921 1/2 and wow the difference in torque is awesome. No lug shall be spared.
Somehow I get the feeling this isn’t going to go unnoticed at Milwaukee lol
Can't wait for DeWalt high torque update
Really just want a new Mid-Torque with numbers like 650+. But with the new beans we've been seeing from DeWalt, we'll really take anything at this point! Edit: Just saw rumors and specs about a new DeWalt high torque, so now salivating about that.
@@TorqueTestChannel honestly. I loved their dcf903 (mid torque). But once the new milwaukee mid torque released. I switched to milwaukee. Now that dewalt is kicking with new 12v and 20v tools, might need to switch babe. For the last and final time haha

I got some DeWalt drill small impact with 2 batteries combo in 2015 the small impact couldn't remove tight car lug nuts but it was very convenient for everything else and really liked the lightweight feel. When I wanted a bigger tool, I wanted to get the Milwaukee since is the best high torque. But that would have been more expensive as I would also need a new battery family. I went with the DCF899 high torque which still has enough torque for most applications I will use, but it's a bit heavy glad to see new tools with competitive torque. Will probably end up getting the 921
Dewalt was running some awesome deals recently. I picked up the Drill and impact driver (DCD805 & DCF850) two batteries and charger kit for $279... Came with a free choice of power tool, so I picked the DCF921. Thanks TTC for making it easy to find the tools I wanted.
I've got one on the way! Thanks for the tip about the free 5Ah battery too!

Could you do some tests of different methods for using an impact? Pushing hard into the bolt vs just keeping it roughly on the head, holding to the side vs holding square on the bolt head
Bought the dcf921 because I run mostly dewalt batteries and I love when I get to bust it out. Dewalt beating Milwaukee is nice but that m12 stubby is nothing short of amazing. Something that small competing and beating it’s 18v variants; Milwaukee hit a home run with the stubby
I’ve found that usually the difference between the big 3 ( Milwaukee, Dewalt, and makita) they are usually similar enough it’s just a color preference
I’ve had my Dewalt dcf 923 for about a year now, and I absolutely love it.
Great work on these videos, I will say that there is no going back for DeWalt. They are only going to keep taking over for a very long time. They have leveled the playing field and then some at this point and they have a secret weapon dropping in a couple of months at the most that will really help them come back to the top where they should be.
Woo hoo, new Torque Test Channel video!
I'm waiting for DeWalt to come out with a right-angle cordless impact like Milwaukee and Kobalt have... Though, I will admit, that new Atomic in this video is quite appealing. I have the DCF899 and the 12v 3/8" impact unit (which while not real powerful, has proven to be very useful and I've still snapped a few bolts with).
I have the 1/2 inch dewalt
Mid torque an it is a beast for wat it is I absolutely love the thing but im like a kid in a candy store when it comes to battery tools i love them all an they all have their place have to say i am a dewalt fan for better or worse
So which compact impact drill can replace or is on par with the Milwaukee M18 big impact drill?
At work I've noticed when I started putting the bigger batteries from dewalt on my 1/4" impact it seemed like it hit harder and of corse lasts a lot longer than the smaller batteries like the ones your using! My boss has the big square ones that are 20v with 6amp hours and then the biggest ones they make are the big 20v flex volt batteries and they are 9 amp hours and right off the charger they can break stainless screws off halfway sunk! Pretty much as soon as it starts impacting the flex volt batteries bust stainless screws off....so if I was you I'd buy one of them 150-200$ batteries and use it for these tests because i honestly think you'll get better results with them!
Hey im looking at replacing an m12 3/8 stubby looking at either dewalt dvf 923 or 903 which would you choose ? Any advice appreciated thanks
I’m a Milwaukee guy, and someone came in and said I’ve got that newDewalt that’s killing your Milwaukee stubby…. Now what? I said…. Good now let’s go to work💯

Have you guys considered probing the batteries for voltage at full charge and after run or two
Hey TTC!!! I request you test the 2235Ti and 189Thor (and maybe other air impacts?) on your dyno with their other power settings. (Aka turn the regulator dials down) Curious what those numbers are. Thanks for all your hard work and research for us techs!
Which battery would give the 921 more juice? An XR 5ah or a 3ah with the 21700 cells?
Does the 20v 1.5 ah battery for the dewalt give the same ft lbs in torque than the ones shown? (Not counting the power stack, since obviously they outperform the old batteries. If anyone could answer that'd be great. I haven't found any details about this anywhere it seems
DeWalt DCF901 vs new Atomic line; what are your thoughts?? Already own most of 12v line but would still need 5 amp hour battery if I bought the 901 bc I only own 3 amp batteries at the moment. Thanx in advance for the guidance....
Do you know if the dewalt numbers go up if you switch to flexvolt?
Have you had any issues with the dewalt 12v battery locks breaking? Ive had 3 of the atomic 12v battery locks break, they're just not holding up for me so I sold them to the pawn shop 🤷
@torque test channel I’m looking into getting the atomic to break a stubborn caliper bolt cause jerks at les Schwab way over torqued it
Dewalt has released a new battery the "Powerstack" line, i think only in 1.7ah atm but i believe they will increase capacities in the future. I Would be curious to see what these atomic series tools, or any of dewalts 20v line will do with these new very high amp output batteries!
what are the part numbers for the 3/8 versions of these impacts??
Great work man! Best regards from Poland! Wish we had better availability of dewalt new tools :) this small kidos are really cool. My dcf887 is amazing for small screews in car and even lug nuts!

They still need to sell a 20v electric wrachet. Just bought a dcf894 mid torque in may...damn. I love it, but the smaller size of the new would make it a lot more useful. I guess next year i'll pick up the new one.
Have you done a video, (maybe just cut together footage) comparing all of DeWalts impact wrenches? I'm trying to decide if I should just sell my old 3/8 compact and 1/2 mid torque and replace both with this one
I'm a Milwaukee man myself, but I've gotta hand it to DeWalt on this one. I already own Milwaukee so I doubt I'll be buying these, but it's good to see that DeWalt is doing good. I love seeing competition. Though I hope Milwaukee fights back with a new more powerful compact soon.
I am also a Milwaukee man I run the meeting fuel and some of the M 12 platform but I’m tired of paying a premium for tools that are being outperformed.I hope they fight back lm brand loyal toMilwaukee but I’ll jump ship.

@@Lee-lb9qh those are some nice Impacts. I don’t know what happened to their quarter inch atomic impact driver though it’s still getting smoked by five year old red technology.
@@Lee-lb9qh Yeah if I was a DeWalt guy and I used impact wrenches more than impact drivers I’d be happy to see Dewalt putting some effort back into their impacts. I do a lot of remodel, renovation and restoration work so I predominately use drivers.

I'll put that on my list for tools I can hopefully afford sometime in the next 3 years! Hahaha. Looks like I'm good to stick with 20V for large tools and M12 for my smaller mechanics tools.
I would just wait for a sale on either the mac tools truck or home depot. I have the DCF921 when I can't use my air tool and it works good takes lug nuts off from trucks I admit there's few times I gotta break out the Milwaukee but it does an amazing job
I own Milwaukee, makita, and metabo tools. Unless we get a new stubby in the next 12 months, looks like I'm getting another battery platform haha.
I think the dcf923b is gonna be calling my name once it’s released.
I've been looking at that atomic and their new battery. But then I have that aircat 1056-xl, I paid $99 CAD for it. Its small but it still doesn't have the power I need a lot of the times. The toughest nuts and bolts I deal with are suspension, brake anchor, motor mounts, crank pulley, and differential bolts. 90% of those I can get my IR2235 into those tight spots to remove. Hell my IR 2235 with a 1/2" - 3/8" universal swivel adapter will open nuts and bolts my aircat 1056-xl can't with just a straight socket on it. And then there is the speed of my IR2235. 2-3 hits from the hammer and it will loosen anything. When I need to do something simple like a tire rotation sometimes I don't even hear the hammer hit its already just spinning the lug all the way off. Even the Big Milwaukee/DeWalt 1/2" full size impacts are slower at spinning lug nuts off.
The main difference I have noticed between air and battery is that battery has lower rpm so they seem less powerfull
will the dewalt dcf921b take off lug nuts and axle nuts..?..
Have you tried testing the dcf903 12v.
Highly encourage all of you to write to your favorite tool brands and let them know what kind of tools you want, and want kind of performance you need. I've write servel times to dewalt to come out with tools similar to Milwaukee impacts. I'm a fan of both Milwaukee and dewalt tools. I think both are great, I'll be buying these as soon as I see them in store.
milwaukee guy here. sheeeeesh dewalt said yerrr hold deez!!! if you can get similar results with a 4ah dewalt then thats basically the kill shot. that m12 w/ 6.0 is just the best due size i think. this is deff some good competition. lets see if big red does anything about it.
We only have to wait a generation or two to see. That's the nice part about these tool wars.
I'd like to see a flexzilla impact gun tested. It's a compact impact gun that is sold as a kit with V-style fittings, a nice hose, and impact gun for $100 on sale sometimes. It hits pretty good imo, and I use it more often than my Aircat. I'd send it in for testing if your interested. They rate it at 800 ft-lbs "nut busting" torque :). Probably half that though
We got one, just hasn't fit into our schedule yet!
I bought the DCF921 three month ago and every time I use it I have to disconnect the battery to make it work next time
At some point... (akin to digital cameras and megapixels, etc) you've got enough torque for the job. Maybe not today, or next year, but at some point we'll want info on how long they last, can we get repair parts, battery life/cost per use, ability to control the thing, etc. But right now, torque is king.
Wont be sometime soon. Still need a high torque to do many jobs on a car. If we could use only a mid or heck only a compact that would be easy street. I dont see that happening within the next 10 years. If it does, we can retire happy knowing we helped you all get there!
@@TorqueTestChannel like electric cars, we're all waiting on that magical battery technology for sure
I just wish DeWalt had the same or similar battery base as the Milwaukee M12
I bought the dcf911 and it was good, I gave it to a freind who im sure ive drank at least $175 of his beer, and bought the 921. Just used it for the first time. Just lug nuts on a car, but it was noticeably faster than the 911. I never use the low setting on my dewalt high torque because its slow af, but the 1 setting on the 921 was still zippy and pretty much impossible to overtighten a customers wheel nuts. I mostly bought it to cage airbrakes when I'm towing a heavy truck because it fits in between the brake chamber and the suspension with an extra long 3/4 socket. The 911 worked great for that I'm sure the 921 will too
I found a deal on a 923 (that's a 3/8 version of the 921), online AD for $105; and a 1.7 powerstack w/charger for $69.
So then I'm looking for the 60lb ratchet, and stumbled on a combo deal, the 911 w/ the 12v ratchet, 2 batteries and charger for $138 at lowes.
What am I going to do?
Lower power 1/2 drive
Higher power 3/8 drive.
The 3/8 will loose torque via 1/2 adapter, so I'm thinking of a 3/8 socket set going up to 24mm. (milwaukee packout set).
Do I keep both, or what?
Wondering if there's any advantage to keeping the 911 1/2 drive for the sockets larger than 24mm, which will have to be in 1/2 size.
@@jbboozer6726 you can always use a 1/2-3/8 reducer, would lose an inch or so of compactness. To be honest I wish I had just kept the 911. The 921 is awsome but has failed to work a few times when I pulled the trigger. Lights come on but no spinny spinny. Take the battery off and wait a bit and it works again. Has happend maybe 7-8 times, and others have had the same problem. I'm still using it maybe once a week or so and still like it, but wonder if one day it'll die and not come back to life.
