We're on a roll with our Volvo coverage on TestDrive, marking another luxury brand on board with our weekly show. Our Spotlight is on the 2019 Volvo XC60 T8 Inscription, a compact luxury crossover with a dual motor AWD setup for it's partial electric system. The XC60 is now in it's second generation and follows the same design language from the S90 we featured earlier.
Our full tour & review of the XC60 T8 Inscription goes over a lot of the exterior design and features, such as front adaptive LED headlighting, headlight washers, parking sensors, park assist, power folding mirrors, self-levelling suspension, automatic opening rear lift-gate, keyless access, and much more. We show these features and design elements in action while discussing how they compare with other vehicles we've tested this year.
We also jump inside the XC60 to talk about it's luxury interior, including the leather wrapped dashboard, open-pore wood trim, suite of safety technology through Volvo InteliSafe, front heated and ventilated seats, three-stage heated steering wheel, dual zone automatic climate control, rear heated seats, panoramic sunroof, LED ambient lighting, and the Bowers & Wilkins audio system.
TestDrive also takes the 2019 Volvo XC60 T8 on a comprehensive road test to talk about it's twin-charged inline 4 engine and electric motor that drives the rear wheels, along with the 4-C Active Air Suspension. We talk about our overall fuel economy for our week with the XC60 along with the control circuit we have setup. We do some performance-oriented testing such as a 0-100km or 0-60 kph test with the Volvo and talk about interior road noise levels.
Finally we wrap up our episode with our likes and dislikes about this compact crossover SUV including our final fuel economy numbers.

I grew up in Montréal. It doesn't seem to get quite as cold in the winters these days. Or maybe it's that very thin layer of insulation that I now have distributed throughout my body. PS boots instead of shoes would keep you much warmer.
Audi Etron FULLY ELECTRIC is stickered here in the U.S. for 85,000 USD ... and that’s for the fully loaded top of the line Prestige model. 👍🏻
In Canada the e-tron starts at $90,000 CAD, $105,300 for the 'fully loaded' model.
Do you speak French? Great video and I love the channel! Subscribed!
I do, but not at the same fluency as my English unfortunately.
@@PRNTestDrive I ask because I'm an anglophone myself who will be moving to Quebec after the new years. To Montreal
I think there was an article this year that showed how Montreal was the most Trilingual city in North America, with a large population being able to speak French, English, and a third or more languages, so I wouldn't worry for the city itself. I've personally never had a problem since moving out here, and I'm in an area that's almost completely French, but that's why I try to use it as often as possible to get better.
@@PRNTestDrive Thanks for the heads up! Maybe I can take some classes once I get there to help integrate myself in the rest of the province !
There are definitely options! Hope you enjoy it out here, I don’t regret the move from Ontario at all.
Volvo cars are pricey with options still a fantastic review thanks
Pricey for sure! Glad you liked our episode!
Love your reviews! The T8 is too expensive for the 25km EV range, the T6 will do just fine. Any infos on when you'll get to test drive the Hyundai Kona EV? I'm really interested to see a thorough range test during the harsh Québec wintertime!
Great question, it's a vehicle high on our list to feature! Hyundai Canada had loaned what will likely be the Montreal press car out to a dealership last week for a local EV/PHEV auto show, so I imagine we should be getting them pretty soon. We're very interested to see how the cold weather affects it's overall range.
I bought this exact car a year ago. With a fully charged battery, you turn the ignition on, in hybrid mode it used to show 29km range. Then over time it went to 28, then 27, then 26. Now, almost a year later and 76,000 kms on the odometer, it only shows 25. But the battery is warranted for eight years, so that's good. I love driving in electric mode. I will never buy another ICE-powered car again. Next car will be all electric - maybe the Polestar 2?
The Polestar (brand) vehicles look very interesting.
Mudguards on the front wheels, but not the rear?
Might have forgotten to put them on the rears at the dealer.
I had a deer jump into my vehicles' path. Quite an expensive repair.
I'm sure it was! Deer are a big problem here, we're hoping we don't end up having to test this technology in the real world.
Who needs a panoramic moonroof?
Someone who lives in the north so in winter I can let in as much light as possible plus the little rug rats love it.
I do. Any vehicle that does NOT have one, I won’t even consider. 👨⚕️
I do.
I'd like to add a couple of really annoying points to this review. First, the little blue high beam indicator is useless. It's barely visible and I can't believe how many times I've forgotten to dim my lights. Second, the reverse lights at night. Reverse lights have two purposes, to let someone behind you know you're backing up, and second, to illuminate behind you so you can see where you're going in the dark. These lights are terrible. I've already back into a couple of objects because I simply could not see them, and that was with the camera lens being clean. Even worse when there is road spray, or snow, on it. Terrible design.
I’m picking up a 2020 XC90 this week, I’ll look at these two points on it to see if there’s any improvement over this smaller XC60.
@@PRNTestDrive - yeah when touching the brake pedal, the brake lights are actually a bit brighter than the reverse lights, but still far from great. My 2009 Pontiac Montana SV6 had awesome reverse lights, never hit a thing, and no back-up camera. And as for the high beam indicator light, ya, be sure to check that out, too. Just a crappy design, have no idea how that got past their R&D approval.
The answer is easy.....not worth the money. Nice car, though.
Wait until the car is 2 years old and save $20K. I have a 2018 with 29K miles which stickered at $72K, I paid just under $49K USD
Top car..wolf in sheep's clothes
Definitely is!
I'd buy an Acura rdx before getting this one
I have a RDX and absolutely hate it. Noisy, hard ride, lane keep assist is junk. Worse part is they do not include a spare tire. No biggie until you need to be towed in... Twice now. I feel I can not trust the car. Three year lease that is up in 4 months. Can not wait to get rid of it.
@@jimryan1976
Do you think the new RDX will be the same? I'm now looking at the Honda Passport (I sort of like the reliability of a naturally aspirated V6).
No one stopping you lol.
It's expensive for a middle class car,, I think!!
We agree! You can buy a larger BMW X5 or Mercedes GLE 400 for the same price. But the Volvo does offer slightly better electric range, so there’s their justification.
Yes sure.
Not when you spec up the opposition to the same level !!!
Mercedes ,BMW and Audi are also middle class cars category too with nothing to shout about ..
