D&D was alot of fun in the early 80s. Can't believe it is still popular.

I am a 45 year old who works with teenagers from time to time. Yesterday, I found out that several of them weren't allowed to watch the D&D movie even though they were allowed to watch Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. I got an old case of the sads. I remember D&D getting pulled from KB Toys back in the day. I was hoping we were past all that at this point.

Tell me your D&D experience! Are you interested in trying it out? Are you a seasoned pro?

I got interested in D&D (as a TTRPG, not just video game adaptations) pretty recently, a year or three ago. I DM for a couple of friends on occasion and it's a blast every time, but one of them works in shifts, so planning sessions is pretty much a nightmare. But here's the thing, I find it pretty difficult to find local players in people I don't know already. Placed a couple of messages in local groups, but had zero response. There's no game store nearby to connect with other players and no local library or other location that hosts sessions (or is willing to host them, I might add). I don't play nearly as much as I would like, so I guess it'll be a waiting game untill my daughters are old enough to play.

I tried 5e a few years ago. I had a bad DM who was too much about how he wanted the game played. He also had a no politics rule for the group, but he immediately started talkng politics.I was also a noob who was still figuring out the game during our first session. I could detect the group's annoyance at my lack of skill with the game. Dropped out after that session and I haven't played since. I'm trying to crawl my way back to playing.

I hope you find a better fit, it's a shame that ruined your experience!

Strategy? We don’t need no stinkin’ strategy, have you never heard of Leroy Jenkins?
