Habs should have drafted him in 1980. From Montreal, played his junior hockey at the Forum. Having a centre of Savard's calibre may have extended Lafleur's really good years.

I agree the Habs should have drafted him. The thinking of the time was that they needed a Big Center that they haven't had since Pete Mahovolich to help create space for Lafleur. Wickenheiser was just not prepared for the pressure of Montreal and they played him so sparingly in his rookie year (brought him along slowly) that it affected his confidence. also the Habs were deep at center with Larouche, Mondou, Acton, Jarvis, & Risebrough who were all under 6 ft (between 5'8"-'5'10")
