  • I remember the first Ghibli ad on TV nearly a decade ago and it shook the market. Now ten years later, it is being discontinued. Maserati has confirmed the both the Ghibli and their Ferrari soured V8 will depart in favor of an electrified future. To celebrate the V8’s legacy, let’s take a look at this wild beast of a sedan.
    ⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
    🏁 [© @Alllcarnews Spec Sheet: Under the hood is a Ferrari built 3.8L TT V8 making 580HP and 538 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels only with top speeds up to 203MPH and 0-60 under 4.3sec. 🏁
    ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
    Italian for trophy, the Trofeo is the trophy model of the Ghibli lineup. As such, it gains a launch control system, a Corsa driving mode, 21in wheels, a rear LSD, and custom Trofeo badging. The stand out feature? Well, it’s simply that engine with heaps of torque low down at 2,250RPM, a raucous yet subdued sound, and the ease of letting the rear end loose. It may not be as sophisticated, or as fast a German rivals, but its emotional and old school nature make it a treat to hoon around, especially with massive carbon fiber shift paddles.
    Sure there are flaws…many in fact… but the truth to the story is nothing like this will ever be made again and I hope this emotion can be transferred over to future Maserati products. Long Live the V8, and Long Live Maserati. 🔱

    I have a 2019, and I love the car. I also have had 3 ferraris. So these Italians are just fun. I am tempted to get the Trofeo version as the sedan SQ4 was just a great car so far for me!

    I wish they would keep the V8 alive because I doubt electricity is going to happen.

      You doubt that the millions of EVs already sold aren't going to happen? Ok got it...

      @@Allcarnews ford is now having trouble selling them; Mazda is stopping; Toyota is pursuing a wise approach focusing on hybrids. I do doubt that EVs become more than a Cult thing like Tesla in the US. Europe may be different.

      @@marial8235It’s the same in Europe. Volkswagen has big trouble selling electric vehicles they even laid off 500 people from the factory because demand has been decreased dramatically. Stellantis paused the production electric vehicles in their Peugeot/Fiat/Maserati factory. More brands have trouble selling their electric vehicles. The only brands that are selling well consequently are Tesla and the new Chinese brands

    A Ferrari v8 built in Detroit by Chrysler/Fiat with Ferrari parts soooo what is it really?

    • @Allcarnews
      @Allcarnews  Před rokem +14

      Huh? Nothing is built in detroit from the ghibli…. it’s made in italy. the engine literally is from ferrari. Jokes aside at least get the facts right. I’ve had the privelage to work for alfa/maserati for a time and i learned a lot. I wish the public could understand.

      @@Flokisteroid spot on. And you never here the haters about the dash in the Aston’s coming from Ford an Volvo (still I love Aston’s!!), or he Lambo Urus being a re-batched Audi q8, etc etc

      It'd be nice if they did build them in Detroit... Even if it takes away from the Italian flare of the car, it would arguably would help it sell in the US actually especially if they priced them lower, better build quality too with the exception of the engine and trans. We'd probably see this engine in Dodge and Chrysler sedans instead of the new Hurricane engine if they made them here.

    Depreciation beast. Seems like they are losing an unfathomable 50% of value in 2 years. 2022 cars are already in low to mid $60k and they are not selling. This will be worth under $30k in two years. Depreciation is catastrophic on Maseratis. Probably the fastest depreciating brand right now, even LR is not hitting those numbers.
