When has a vaccine cured the flu season? People run out and get a flu vaccine and we still had 80,000 deaths a year from the flu and it wasn't politicized by counting deaths every day. This entire situation is absolutely pathetic.

Whether it's through chemicals, fluoridation, are what they spray on our Foods that we eat on a daily basis? Either way this is not conspiracy theory this is a conspiracy and it is fact. Many scientists that have not been bought and paid for have come out with papers that say exactly that. The one Professor from I believe it was Stanford or Berkeley and showed Beyond any reasonable doubt that what they were spraying on our Foods was affecting men. Are asked to close our doors... and what? Do you understand how many businesses are affected by our shutting down? There have been hundreds of incidents at Walmart’s and targets with spitting, fighting, shootings. Maskless people. They aren’t shutting them all down. And please don’t tell me it’s because they are ‘essential’ a term that is selective and has nothing to do with stopping the spread of this virus. How fucking dare you - we are one of those businesses suffering from these closures. We cannot reinvent how we serve. Our license dictates that. You probably know nothing about the business but so callously throw out some random ‘advice.’ You think serving a bar pie will save our bar? What an idiot to put such a comment out. How about you sacrifice your income for five months as your duty to the country then tell the rest of us how we should be doing things. Not every bar or restaurant can deliver, has a kitchen, had the type of license to sell package goods etc. you don’t have a goddam clue.

As a person who opened a restaurant with partners, and as a marketing specialist for another opening restaurant, I can tell you "expected food prices" wasn't the issue, and neither is "seating customers", at least not for the reason mentioned.
The "food prices" issue, is the endless scrutiny restaurants go through, how a working oven and stove, and clean conditions aren't enough for a kitchen, costing business owners loads of money on inspection after inspection, new equipment for things you would never need, and places in big cities charging absolutely absurd rent prices. The landlords are making all of the profit from the restaurants, and the remainder is going to the state fees, licenses, and inspections.
People like this guy believes the price goes onto the customer, endlessly, and when the business fails, "it's because the customer wasn't paying enough!"
Guess what happens when you jack those prices up on food, even further than has already accrued.. The landlords will charge more, and every industry leeching from restaurants will raise their fees, and the state will raise their fees or invent more.
It's an overregulation problem, over taxation, and greedy landlord issue, not a "customers need to pay a $50 for half of a chicken 🐔" issue.

My partner owns a cafe which we had to close for 3 months. I would like to share some steps we took to reopen and actually be in a better position than before we had to close.
I liked it when Andrew said he would like to rebuild the industry. That is the same attitude we took when we decided to reopen once restrictions were lifted here in Queensland, Australia. We changed our staff structure and incorporated profit share to senior staff as an incentive.
We had to restock and used the opportunity to do some repair work. Irrespective of the additional costs, because we restructured the remuneration, we were able to reduce our wage costs as a percentage of Sales by 28%, bringing wages as a percentage of sales down from 40.98% for July 2019 to 29.57%, July 2020, while sales were only down 2.83%. The point I am trying to make is that by bringing in profit share with senior staff, they were much more willing to be vigilant not to have casual staff on unless absolutely necessary since it now affects their paycheck directly, instead of just eating into the business' profitability and thus long term sustainability. Andrew further mentions around 7.5% net profit. Our's for July 2019 was 6.06%. This year we broke even for the same period (0.48% net profit), but this was mainly because we had to restock a lot of products we had to throw away when we shut down.

You guys missed ,another aspect of this restaurant industry.
Thats the Bread vendor. Here in Buffalo ,the distributors have taken a Beating. No restaurants ,no bread deliveries ,and no payments for (previous) services rendered.
A Good Bread makes a Real Meal !
Not to mention the industry that makes the flour and the farmers and haulers that get the grains to the mill.
All these are also, an integral part of the restaurant industry.

The question is, if we give them 120 billion dollars, how will it solve this solvency problem? There isn't a path forward, without bankruptcy

3 or 4 years ago I sat next to Zimmern on a flight from Minneapolis to La Guardia... first class on Delta. He refused the in-flight meal. I didn't know who he was during the flight because I never watched his show. But I must have seen plenty of ads for it, and/or seen him as a guest on other shows. He was working on his laptop the entire flight. His name was on his carry-on as if he were a famous person, and it did look familiar. I googled it when we landed, and at that point thought it was interesting that he refused the meal. Almost no one does that. Maybe he wasn't hungry... or maybe he thought the food was below his standards.

He's pointing out how much America needs these restaurants and businesses. Tons of people being financially hit and then he goes... "we need to shut down"🥴

The government is close to 34% GDP. Restaurants are 4%. Real estate is #2 at 13%. Restaurants are not the second largest industry in the US, they aren't even in the top 10.

You’re not only a talker but a great listener. I was impressed. Also, you we’re really enjoying what you were hearing. Great job! My niece has been 13 years with Texas Roadhouse and it’s fantastic and will come out of this on a roll.

The restaurant boom has definitely created communities of producers and suppliers , distributors, transporters that literally got hit hard over night because of COVID 19.

Restaurants should all be out of business. All they are good for is for overcharging for meals and making people sick while denying good pay and health insurance to the staff.
