    ☎️ Chrome Remote Desktop
Use or install Chrome Remote Desktop by visiting remotedesktop.google.com. @@mikaelnazir7768 It appears she does. In a case like this I'd probably create a temporary one for her to use.

Leo, I have used TeamViewer for years to provide 1 on 1 remote support to friends and family. Some how, TV became corrupted on my friend's computer. He could not even uninstall it and do a fresh install. Knowing that I needed to get into his Windows OS (registry, x86 folder, etc.) to remove some files, I needed to find another way to access his computer. Your explanation on Google Remote Desktop was just what the doctor ordered. Thank you for quick, straight-forward toot. Keep up the good work.

Such a great tutorial. This is all I need to train a new employee remotely. I followed your instructions exactly and had no problems at all installing and connecting. Huge stress relief here. Thank you so much for your time. I really appreciate it.

Thanks Leo! When helping others some administrative dialogs will not be visible to the helper from their remote computer. Another video might be beneficial showing how to setup unattended remote assistance. Thanks so much!

Great overview. Ppl just need to have Chrome already installed to add the extension after Remote Desktop is installed. Perhaps a video supplement to install chrome first for those who need it? I've found that most users who default to IE do not have chrome.

I need a simple version of this video to install Chrome remote for non-tech folks. I'm retired living in Florida and was using Teamviewer but can no longer use it. I connect with family and friends all the time to help them but they are mostly seniors like me so I am presently using this video to send them to try and install. But if you could create a basic download and install and generate code video without all the other stuff I would be so grateful.

Been using chrome for support reasons for over 3 years. It’s has its limits like others. One big one is the fact that you cannot access all apps with it. For example, you can pull up control panel and open user manager, but then you cannot click or type anything. It is one of the easiest for clients to install.

Does this grant the remote user with Admin access - or allow Elevated UAC command window to be accessed and Admin password to be entered? ( If the user in need of support has a non-admin domain account)

I don't *believe* so, but I could be wrong. (I have several browsers installed). I believe it all works in Edge as well, as that's Chromium based now. Don't know about Brave or others, though.

Using Chrome Remote Desktop, can you log in to another computer remotely like you did in TeamViewer by just having the ID and password previously? I used to work from home and log in to my desktop computer at work at midnight when nobody was there to give me the ID and Password, and that service was free. Now, TeamViewer charges for that kind of service. Are there any other free TeamViewer alternatives? Thanks

A few items that folks might find helpful:
    1) Windows (versions 10 and up, I believe) comes with a Quick Assist program, that works much the same as what we saw our host demonstrate in this video.
It requires that the person providing the assistance to login to their Microsoft account. The person requesting help will run Quick Assist and give the helper the access code, etc.
So both parties will run Quick Assist, but only the person providing the assistance will need to login to their Microsoft account.
One other benefit of Quick Assist is that the person seeking help can choose whether to allow the helper to have full control of their computer, or only see the screen of their computer.
So if you want help from someone, to have them guide you, and you feel safer by not giving them control of your computer, you can use Quick Assist to grant them viewing access only, or you can grant full control access, whichever you prefer.
    2) Google is the largest spyware company in the history of the world. I recommend that none of their products or services be used. There are good alternatives for all (or nearly all) of their offerings. I am guilty of using youtube, which is a google service.
    3) When you install a browser extension, it adds an element of uniqueness to your specific browser, and lets google and and other trackers uniquely identify your on-line activity.
    4) Remote Desktop is not defined in this video the same as the Remoter Desktop that is bundled with all versions of Windows.
Pertaining to the Remote Desktop that comes bundled with Windows:
The client side of Remote Desktop is enabled (available) on every Windows installation (that would be the person providing help).
The server side of Remote Desktop is enabled only on Pro versions (and higher) of Windows (that would be the person seeking help.
So how does the Remote Desktop that is bundled with Windows differ from what was demonstrated in this video?
With the Windows bundled Remote Desktop, the client side grabs the screen of the server side, and (this is key) it also locks the server side's computer.
So, for example, if you are home, and you want to use the computer at your desk, which is located at your employer's building, you can safely do so, and not worry that someone might walk past your office desk and see what you are doing. They will see a locked screen.
So the built-in Remote Desktop that comes bundled with Windows functions differently than the Chrome verity that was demonstrated in this video.
If you have a Microsoft account, then I recommend that you not install google's remote desktop browser extension. Just use Microsoft's Quick Assist. It works well. However, Microsoft is also a huge spyware company. But at least you are not tinkering with browser extensions. The more you clutter up your browser, the more trouble you might encounter.

Thanks very much ; that helped. Just a couple of notes. It would have been good to mention how the "helper" pc got to the state it was in when it was going to connect. You could have said that the remote desktop extension was installed and you ran the application and now waiting on the code generated from the target machine and provided by that person. The other thing I didn't understand right off was that on the target machine "the one to be remoted into", I had to select the "Remote Support" tab on the left in order to generate the one time code. I kept starting the rda and it just showed that I was online. Anyway, not a biggee; I finally got it despire me. Thanks again.

If the browser connecting to the remote machine is signed in to the same google account, you only need to enter the 6 digit pin for your account. Generating the 16 digit code is an alternative for two different users.
