I'm based in the Scottish Highlands and I use a VW campervan to access the great outdoors, where I climb hills, ride my e-bike or gravel bike and just visit some of those places I've never been to. I've been climbing hills and mountains all over the world for 50 years and I'm a former editor of Climber Magazine and The Great Outdoors Magazine.

Och,I enjoyed your braw wee tunes Cameron 👍
3 cloves of garlic and garlic butter AND pesto?! No kisses for you that evening big man! 😂 Great video, keep them coming.
Getting good with the drone... Thx for posting.
Hot tent diaries by John Burns ....there's a joke there somewhere ;) ....love books i like to have a book in my hands but i do like the kindle , the ability to have a lot of books with little to no space used is well worth it . :)
Yet another great piece Cameron. Really appreciated and congratulations on everything you’re achieving in life. Lovely to watch and extremely motivating.
Thoroughly enjoyed this video and made me wish I was out in my van tonight passing the time cooking, reading, listening to music and in general being away from the chaos of modern life….
A man of many talents, enjoyed your company.
Great stuff Cameron. I'm still a tent man myself, but I probably follow as many CZcams vanlife channels as I do hiking channels. I was turning in at 6pm in my tent wearing four layers of cothing inside two sleeping bags on a recent backpacking break, and waking up at 2am in the cold darkness made me pass the remaining time by day (night?) dreaming of a vanlife future one day 🙂
I generally spend some time before I go away, downloading movies and series on my tablet and phone (if using my tent) in case I dont have reception :-) Podcasts are also fab especially when organising the van and myself for a long winter night :-)
I thought for a moment that your backing band had kicked in while you were on the tin whistle, but actually it was an advert...
On the topic of books, I currently have Ian Mitchell's Isles of the West - which is very good so far - on the go, and Isles of the North to follow.
Wonderful video, good food, good book, and entertainment as well, what more could you want, great viewing, best wishes, Colin.
I can’t play any kind of musical instrument, but I must say the tin whistle sounds like a very good idea, I’ll give that a bit of thought. My alternative is actually to try to learn poetry off by heart. I am big into Wordsworth and Keats at the moment. Robert service in the Yukon is probably more appropriate for the environment we share. Try reading the cremation of Sam McGee, which I did learn quite some years ago. Your other four interests I share absolutely.
I'm a big fan of Robert Service and his Yukon poetry. Always surprised he wasn't better known.
Love the videos!... the bouzouki was great!...
Hello just found your video.. I love the video especially the musical interest..❤. Great drone images
Stunning scenery and totally enlightening and enjoyable video..👏👏☘
What a lovely video!
I’ve just started watching your channel today.
I’m planning on heading up to Scotland soon, for a good few months in my camper and your video “Are campervaners still welcomed in Scotland” popped up. So I’ve watched a number of you videos now.
Thank you Cameron. Lovely content 🙏
the 2 books have been ordered :) great recommendations atb
Thanks for an entertaining watch. The music was nice too:)
A man of many talents eh 👏 Great opening scenery & appreciate the effort you go to.
Nice video. As novices to campervan its encouraging though England is less welcoming than Scotland for reasons of freedom.
Especially liked the music👍
Great video Cameron, is their no limit too your talents!
Take care and stay safe
Great, uplifting video as ever Cameron. Thanks again!
What a talented man you are Cameron, it sounds idyllic, cycling the trails and then just suiting yourself what you do all night. I don't know if I could be bothered with the cooking though, heating up a pie would do me.
Heating up a pie ? Feck that phone out for a pizza 😜👍🏻🇬🇧
Love campervanning all year round. Great vlog, all the best Cameron.
Thank you Cameron! Approaching my twilight years, you’ve taught me something I never knew. The words “Roaming in the gloaming on the bonny banks of Clyde” now mean something completely different! I always thought the gloaming was the Scottish way of saying the hillsides, the bushes that grow away from towns and cities; now I know! Thank you! 😍
Ah, the gloaming, the thin time of the Gaels.
Definitely recommend Ed Douglas book, took me a while get into it, but glad I did. It will certainly help pass the winter night in a van
Just discovered your channel it's fantastic, greetings from Ireland I hope you return again :)
Excellent episode, from the scenic beauty to the variety of activities for a long, winter's night. Plenty to do! 😉😁Thanks for sharing your many talents and safe travels ~ Blessings!😀
Timely wee video as we are off to the lake district this weekend in our mini camper van. First time we've used it in the winter
Another great video, thank you.
Bananagrams is a fun word game that I play in the van a lot … all year round … but great on dark winter nights. It takes up very little space and is easy to learn 😃.
Great peice Cameron, agree with your view on the 'Kindle' plus you can't get it signed by the author, could you please tell me make and model of your bike carrier? "Peace out, keep on trucking"
Great video Cameron very informative and well delivered. You are very good at this and for a relative newbie like myself a great source of knowledge. Thank you kind regards Andy
Doesn't look much like a forest in the intro Cameron - oh yes that was before most of Scotland's trees were felled and the local crofters ethnically cleansed so as a noble laird could boast his sheep. Maybe remind your viewers noo 'n agin?
You're right about the local clansfolk being evicted during the Clearances but in this context the Ardverikie Forest has little to do with trees. It's a Deer Forest.
Cameron youve had a long time practicing your penny whistle, i remember when you and I were in the 1970s on the MLC course at Glenmore Lodge and whilst overnight camping on the Cairngorm plateau you played your whistle in your tent
A very helpful video as I have a Mazda Bongo hightop similar to yours and have had a diesel night heater fitted this year and need to put it to the test this Winter
Hoping to get up to the Cairngorms for a few overnighters and some great tips on how to pass the long winter nights ATB Bob Reid
Fandabadoza Cameron
Nice one been subscribed for a while as I like your style of vlogs which we try to do our best on our channel. Video editing keeps me busy at night but just took up whittling wood as lots of online how to videos. I may try the penny whistle having just done a 9 week trip to Ireland like you
Excellent video… what about outdoor things, too? Have you tried astronomy when out on-the-road? You'd get some great dark skies!
A nice way to learn language for free online is Duo lingo.
Enjoyable film. Thanks. Presumably Tip 6 would be 'Make a CZcams video'?
That certainly does take up the time!!!
Given how cheap diesel heaters are there's no reason to not camp in winter. I sleep in my van in winter and I'm toasty warm.
Absolutely. I love my diesel heater. Couldn't be without it now.
I suppose editing video footage could be another past time.
Absolutely. That could take up all your spare time!!!
One further suggestion. As a recent recipient of a free Scottish bus pass, which do you think constitute the best bus routes in Scotland?
No American pronounces Himalayan like that. ; )
I led treks in Nepal, India and Pakistan for 20 years. Every American on my treks pronounced Himalaya like that. Every single one.
Was this video an elaborate ruse to test the waters for your own cooking show? 😉
Ha ha, Jamie and Nigella have nothing to fear!!!
