  • The Buford may forever be the best Musky pattern of all time, thanks to Mr. Brad Bohen. The big deer hair bulk head pushes a ton of water, and the big bucktail body creates mass but keeps it light weight. The hair, feather and flash strategy is all you need in a good musky fly. In this pattern we call Patches, we take all the Bufford principles and add a few additions including Blane Chockletts body tubing, and a single center hook to keep this fly super light but large.

Really nice tie and video, shows what actually goes into tying these flies. Good to know my loon bobbin isn’t the only noisy one out there as well.

What flash are you using and where do you get such nice bucktails? That saddle is the perfect color also, good saddles are getting hard to come by for some reason.
