Hi Ken! That new lantern looks very beautiful, but the charm of the old one, nothing can match it. Thank you for sharing and enjoy that camp very much.
Yes you are right Thanks so much!
Thanks for the review Ken! Our designers worked really hard to honor the vintage charm of the original railroad lanterns and appreciate you showing it off!
Thanks it was my pleasure to do the review and I am really enjoying this lantern I think it’s a fantastic item and great to have around the house.
Fantastic vid of the battery operated railroad lantern, along with a dressel railroad lantern! 🙂 Yes seen a few fireflies in the background & sure miss the fireflies! 🙂🙂
Hi Ken! thanks for another entertaining and informative video!
Your very welcome Terry.
Great video Ken, Thanks for showing the 2 side by side. You have some cool lanterns.
Thanks so much I really appreciate it
I like the led lantern, it would be good for emergencies when there is a power failure. Thanks for sharing
Thanks that’s exactly what I’m thinking too it’s something to grab quickly when needed. Thanks F or watching.
Pretty neat new style lantern there Ken but I'll settle for the old school smelly ones lol.i love the smell of kerosene burning
Oh yeah! I know what you mean just threw this in for fun because it was a cool gift but don’t worry I’m not giving in on my passion for the smell and the nice warmth of the kerosene ones too we will get back to that very soon. Wish you the best!
Nice lanterns there & yup the battery operated railroad lantern looks cool & never heard of the battery operated one & yes the Dressel railroad lantern is awesome. I do like the smell of burning kerosene in a lantern! 👍👍🙂🙂
Yes indeed 👌
Very nice Ken! Looks awesome! 😃👍
Thanks
Wow very cool thank you
Thanks
Neat!
Thanks
bought some of these lights for my off grid cabin. Haven't got them yet but heard good reviews on them. Don't want to run the generator at night lol.
Great idea thanks for watching and commenting 👍
Hey Ken you are right that is a lot of light! They got the design style right as well very nice. I wanted to ask about when you had the lamp turned down there was a lot of flicker. Was the flicker an artifact of the camera or does the lamp flicker when you adjust the dimmer to low? Hope you have a great weekend camping. Thanks also for sharing your camping time with the channel.
Hi Moray,
You are right about the flicker in the video I think it’s just something that happens during the filming process only on camera because of the phasing of the l.e.d. Circuitry but this is not really visible when using it in reality I should have mentioned that in the video. Thanks for bringing that to my attention and have a great weekend.
@@lotsatrains I kind of figured it was the shutter speed of the camera along with the frequency of the lamp supply. I am very impressed with the light output of the led lantern combined with the period correct looks. A winning combination.
Yes it’s a great father’s day gift for sure And good to have for a power failure too.
Pulse width modulation. The LED turns on and off rapidly unless its run wide open.
@@matthoward1174 thanks Matt
It’s actually not that bad off camera too.
Hello Ken, found your channel recently since I've always enjoyed trains and lanterns since I was a kid. I thought you would be the one to ask: do you think the Barebones railroad lantern would accept the glass globes from perhaps Dressel or Dietz types? I'd love to put a red or blue colored globe on the modern lantern.
Hi and thanks for watching and actually that’s something that I haven’t tried to do with mine because I think you would have to take apart the lantern to access the globe because it doesn’t just have a flip open top like the standard railroad lantern but maybe I will have a closer look and see how difficult it would be to remove and compare the size of the globe to a standard lantern
Where did you get that Dressel Lantern at,that thing is a bute?!Barebones did a good job with replicating it.
I picked that up a while ago from eBay and also have some that belonged to my grandfather because he worked on the Reading Railroad
@@lotsatrains thats awesome,a very different time of life.
@@troyjenkins3886 yes indeed I wish we could go back to it sometimes
