  • This is some footage of Western Maryland Scenic Railway's Baldwin Locomotive 734. I took this video in Cumberland Maryland at the station downtown. This engine is huge and beautiful. Even when sitting still it sounds so very much alive.

    Its called a steam chest.. and it's not a high and low pressure cylinder..the top cylinder just directs the pressure to each side of the piston. Also, the rod connecting to the piston valve is the valve connect rod...not the eccentric rod. Eccentric rod connects the eccentric crack to the gear connect rod. Lastly, he doesn't dump the ash pan while running down the road lol. Where did you learn this stuff??
