Music video by Janet Jackson performing When I Think Of You. (C) 1986 A&M Records - Hudba
Who's listening in 2024???
Always and forever ❤
I’m with ya 😢
My happy place is here 😁😀🙌🏾
She the closet thing to Micheal that's alive
Me 😊. One of the great bass lines.
Who's listening in May 2024?😎

A time when black folks focussed more on having fun than being angry. Things were never the same after NWA & Rodney King.
The 80's, back when the world was a better place.
Probably a worse place with better distractions
Almost in tears...things have changed so much. Sometimes you have to go back in time to keep your sanity. Loved theses days.
Ditto..in tears...1987, Chicago...simpler times..
Stop Wrong Way....
Your exaclty Right! I wish there was a time machine where we could go back to the 80's
Happy Times ✨🌟✨✌🏼️
Completely agree. I feel the same.I hate what the world has become in a lot of ways compared to the way it used to be.
People will try to say,"Oh, you just don't like change. You're just getting older."
But that's not it; There's something 𝘸𝘳𝘰𝘯𝘨 with the world today. And the children of the 80's feel it especially.
Big fun
I agree. Somebody build a time machine so we can all go back
Was Janet STUNNING or was she STUNNING!?
Stunning , Stunning 😍😍
No.
...is mate. Is. Not was.
Just more proof that the 80s were the last full great decade.
Early 2000’s >
I’d say 90’s what’s the end of it. No political correctness
Michael and Janet Jackson kind of ruled the 80s music scene in my opinion. The mere fact that their fans weren't just Black folk, but people of all races, nationalities, and colors, made it bangin'!
Excellent point!!!
If it were not for Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis contribution, her singing career would have gone down the drain.
I am in this video. I’m at the 3:25 mark. The guy dressed in black arguing with the girl in the red dress. I was Paula Abdul‘s apartment manager at a time in Hollywood. She did the choreography for Janet Jackson’s videos at the time. Was at the studio for two days for me to get all of one or two seconds on screen..😆 It was so much fun!
Brian Hughes, very good. I wish I had more opportunity to perform.
Wow! Very lucky! I absolutely love this vid. Loved the 80s so much.
I see you how cool right I had to rewind three times but I see it nice
Wow x
@Brian Hughes: What an amazing memory for you! 😊
No nudity.
No twerking.
No bad language.
Just sheer talent.
Queen.

Couldn't agree more!!
Well I tell you what….if JJ was up in here naked, twerking and cussin, I wouldn’t look away 😂

Snapple fact: at the 6 second mark the dog walking is “buck” from married with children. His first acting gig. Lol. Rip buck (died in 1996)
I just found that out today too lol. I wish they could have shown a better shot of him
Does anybody else smile through the whole video? It's such a feel good song.🤗 just makes me happy i luv it 💖.
Yes, it's exuberant and lavish! No record label today would bother to produce videos like this one (or Money For Nothing, Take On Me, Walk This Way, New Year's Day, etc).
Definitely full of great beautiful energy.
Love ❤️ one another and you will live forever ❤️
I'm smiling now and bopping my head 💥
I don’t know why but I cried. Everything was perfect in 80s. Now we have never be able to go back in 80s.
I was 16 had my brand new Maxima
They just don't make music or videos like this anymore.
Yes they do. you're just not paying attention
+Medy Lema LOL. Not even close. So wrong, bro
+Frankincensed this means that you're not paying attention either.
Medy Lema Oh, I pay attention, alright. And that's the problem. lol

Cant even put into words the memories this song brings...80s nostalgia 😊
I want to dedicate this song to Elise Finch!
She loved you Janet.
God Bless her family especially her daughter Gracie. 🌞
Your Mommy loves you so much.
R.I.P. 💜💜💜
I'm an 70's baby and It's 2023 and this still makes me dance and feel free! Forever a vibe!
May I have this dance
There are certain 80’s songs that give me an overwhelmingly painful and bittersweet sense of nostalgia. This is definitely one of them.
Agree! I feel that way about lots of Janet's songs, especially Pleasure Principal & Escapade. Such a fun vibe, so much awesome energy.
I wasn’t even born until 92 but I cry everytime I hear this song idk there’s something about it

I was 16 when this came out. I was working as a bus boy at The Baltimore Diner in Nottingham. It was 86'.
the production level of Janet and Michael's music video back then was like a production of a short Hollywood box office film
Mike and Janet always had the best videos hands down
Yup, Thriller was truly ICONIC then, now, and forever!!!
no doubt partly because a lot of their directors had or would have feature film experience.
I was JUST thinking that. I was saying to myself, that's a big ass sound stage😂😂
@@kialoves2543 Janet hired Julien Temple as both she and Michael were huge fans of his 1986 film Absolute Beginners

Janet has one of the most beautiful smiles I've ever seen.

If it was 1986...I'd be going to London and Paris the next year with three friends that are all gone now.
Who's here bc of the video 'Paula teaching choreography to Janet, 1986' suddenly popping up in their feed??! 😉💖
Lol yup. But apparently I’ve been here before because I’ve already liked the video.
Haha, I’m not, but I liked watching that!

Was the choreo she was teaching from @4:05 ?
Yay! Lol 😂
This is so sweet. Not gross. Not vulgar. Miss the 80’s.
I agree (:
Seriously! Nowadays it's all trash. This was real music.
Yes today's music is to explicit or to Demonic . Music in the 80's/90's was more about fun and having a good time
@@keepthefaith9594 I mean Janet became really explicit a few years after this. The new generation lacks talent, and that is their problem.
Music back then wasn't filled with with swearing and highly sexualised lyrics and music videos. Its nice to take a trip down memory lane
When music videos were awesome.
The music video is better than nowdays movies
Watching this August 2023,,, anyone else here? I LOVED this video in the 80’s now I’m freakin 66 and still watching, listening,,, she was the queen of dance, and those dance moves never get old!
80s decade all the way. Especially the music loved it all. Will never forget the movies shows clothes and Hairstyles almost forgot the NRL Grand Finals
Janet Jackson was way above her peers. She is truly underrated
Underrated ?? Janet Jackson ????you are cracking me up 🤣👏

Billboard has her listed in the top 10 female performers during most of the 1980s and all of the 1990s. Globally she's been nominated for more than 400 prestigious awards and she won about half of them. She's won multiple Icon awards from Billboard, MTV, VHI, and others...you win those when audiences and industry peers recognize your work as having major influence on culture. Janet Jackson is and was the QUEEN of the 80s and today!
This has to be one of the cleverest videos of its age. The work that must have gone in to ensure the seeming fluidity of how it runs is phenomenal.
Woke up with this song playing in my head- praying it was 1987 - and I had just had a very long nightmare.
One of my favorites videos of all time. Happy 50th Birthday! Janet
Mine too. The genius of almost no edits.

Maaaannn! They KNEW how to make a music video in the 80's! It wasn't just about being half naked, shaking yo' money-maker! It was drama, theatrics, wardrobe/costumes, dancing, ACTING, it was ENTERTAINMENT!!!!
Mandi I think your assessment is correct. In this Day and Age, rolling around half nekkid , and acting like a slut in heat is what passes for music videos. And I agree the keyword is "entertainment". This video is all about entertainment, not to titilate people~
Born in the 1900's(78)😂. A nostalgic time!.up next Call me al!, walking on broken glass, Michael McDonald,Tom petty, I'm jamming, at home safe getting Daaaaarunk😂. Enjoy great music folks🕺🏽
On this day in Music - 11 Oct 1986
Janet Jackson started a two week run at No.1 on the US singles chart with 'When I Think Of You', her first US No.1, a No.10 hit in the UK.
The 80s were the absolute best decade to be a teenager. I soooo miss the 80s. It was the last great American decade.
For me 90's too ,these two decades most decent and innocent too,Greatest in every way!
True.
What does this even mean????
The 80s and 90s were 🙌
70s too. I don't know why it seem that 70s are underrated or overlooked.
First track I played in my first car. If there was ever a perfect evening, that was it. May, sunset, windows down, the most free I’ve ever felt! This song brings it all back! Love you Janet!!!

Music is still music...y’all just have to get over the fact that it isn’t the 80s anymore 👀
People my age had it made. How fun were the 80s
I remember being 9 years old and being obsessed with this video, i watched it may times. My crushes were Maria From Sesame Street, Janet Jackson, Lisa Lisa and Claire Huxtable, all my girlfriends, lol- This video shows the essence of Janet, no one tops her when it comes to aura and performance, she is the best of female performers, u can't do anything but smile and be amazed
When this song came out I was walking with my girlfriend then in Manhattan by Central park,
I heard the song from afar??? Getting closer???? To our surprise it was about 15 people on skates
dancing and rolling out of the park. The guy with the boombox playing this song stopped skating,
and placed it in the middle of the road. And started to dance around it with everyone else, in the middle of the road 4 lanes. Cars stopped didn't beep nothing and we just were like OMG bliss. NOBODY BEEPED. The song was just about to end the guy picks up the radio and the 15 people just skated down the side street and nobody said SHIT!
Life was just better then, it was a mix. And we enjoyed each others company! 80's RULE
God Bless
Amazing! Wonderful memories. Thanks for sharing 👍🏼🙂
The Gift thanks for the memories. Being a teen in the 80's was magical-nothing like it. So much great music and plenty of fun. God Bless 🙌
To be in New York at that epic time is so special. Wow. Jealous. You've described to me (an English teenager at the time) what it was like. I dreamed to be sitting on one of the walls outside the old tenement houses (which now go for millions) watching break dancers etc all day long. 🤣
You just described a commercial
its sad because we now have these teenyboppers listening to mumble rap regaeton pop garbage..
Anybody else get the chills when they hear piano at 0:26, which reminds them how their life was like and what they were doing at that time when this song was popular on the radio? Definitely the summer song of 1986 (30 Year Anniversary)!
Nothing was like the 80s OMG 😃🔥🔥🔥🔥
80’s baby here, what a good generation
I remember every radio station and clothing store would play this song
I don't care if 1986 was 34 years ago, I can still dance!
Let's do this again 😎
That’s right🌹
Was so exhilarating when I danced to this in the clubs!! I even copied some of the moves! 😸
I hear ya :) If I were in a wheelchair, with a walker, a cane, and a rollator, I'd still be able to shake my booty and bop my head!
👍👍exact !😁
I need the 80s back.. the world is so evil right now 😭
Look the sitcom
Tout le monde déteste Chris.
It was back then, too. The internet just wasn't around to reflect it.
I HEAR YOU Jane. BUT I don't know if we will Ever get back to the 80s. But even son, =I= am going back (at least in this wondrously great video).
Sure feels that way when all of the horrible stuff happening in the world is being recorded by people with cell phones and then booted up on social media for the world to see. Pop Culture is still awful regardless.
I'd rather go back to 88-93 and live there on repeat. No smart phones, no social media, no internet, 29 channels of mostly quality TV, amazing music, cartoons, video games, the commercials were larger than life, cozy and imaganitive, you were more honed in and concentrated on what you were doing because there was far less distractions. When you stepped outside your door it felt like magic.
Now it's just hell, with the new generation and their stupid ugly Broccoli hair cuts.

Hi
Well. There are a lot of clever edit points ( I look for them myself when my own work when a billboard is passing the camera suddenly that's an opportunity to cut for set things up a new and then continue with the shop into another place but you never know it because it looks I look for them to myself when my old work when it billboard is passing the camera suddenly that's an opportunity to cut for set things up a new and then continue with the shop into another place but you never know it because it looks continuous. like when she slides down the railing the zoom the camera pass and show the ground I need to tell this a little bit of a fudge there but just but just barely and to do it in those days without motion control cameras and stuff yeah it's pretty amazing. I remember sitting and watching this on MTV!

Proud to say I still have the vinyl album 💿 I bought with my dad back in 1987.
I was 7, black, and crushing hard on Janet Jackson. I played this on my old fisher price 825 portable record player (the one that looked like an ugly brown suitcase lol) every Saturday morning after watching cartoons, dancing to it with my mom until the needle broke.
I’m honestly crying bc that version of me was the happiest and care free, it’s how I feel whenever I play this song. My first will be here in July, I will give anything to give him the opportunity to feel the same way about a memory and a song that he loves. Those memories are priceless.
TY Ms. Jackson!
When talent mattered and not just sex.
Now all these people are hyping up trash like "WAP".
👏👏👏👏
Lmao didn’t Madonna and prince exist then? Rick James??? Lmao byeee
@@zairemoorer9666 Even Janet was selling sex, let's not kid ourselves. Just look at the lyrics for Janet's song "All for You":
[Refrain]
"All my girls at the party, look at that body
Shakin' that thing like you never did see
Got a nice package alright, guess I'm gonna have to ride it tonight
All my girls at the party, look at that body
Shakin' that thing like you never did see
Got a nice package alright"
The fact of the matter is, sex is normal, and singing about it doesn't mean you don't have talent. Songs can be about anything, it's still a song. But the issue is that too many make sex the focal point of their music, and become too vulgar with it. And the song quality starts dropping.
Amen!!!!!

Hi Evelyn hope you're okay?
The choreography and flow from place to place on the set is amazing.
Yes! I want to see the story behind the production and how they did this.
@@itznotme58 Well - you can PLAN and Design all you want - but to actually have a performance this complex come out as wonderfully perfect as it did, involves a certain amount of good fortune in having a whole crowd of talented, inspired performers working literally in top form - and with a great attitude that you can actually feel being projected outward.
Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis are pure genius.
when music and videos mattered! One of the best produced and fun songs of the 80's. I get happy every-time I hear it. Thanks you Miss Jackson!
This is one of my favorite Janet songs and for me one word and emotion sums it up. Joy. This video always seemed like so much fun and the spirit of Janet Jackson is signified in it. This song sounds like her megawatt smile. She sings with happiness and exuberance and it is this sound that is invoked in her trademark hits. Years later you will hear it on "Escapade", "Alright", "Miss You Much", "Because of Love", "You Want This", "Go Deep", "Together Again", "All For You", "Island Life", "What's Ur Name", right on up to "Dammn Baby." Consistency in her craft is what makes her a true legend and a real artist. This is why she can still make hits today. Her talent, recognition and artistry goes way beyond her famous last name and family.
Goodboy33
I strongly agree with you and she will always and forever stand the test of time..JJ fan for life!!
I'd add 'Made For Now' to those you listed.
I sometimes have to revisit old Jackson videos to remind myself of how much this family dominated the charts for decades.
How does this only have 110K likes?! I'm at a total loss. The 80s were magic, and Janet Jackson helped make that magic.
How many remember a young Janet Jackson on the show Good Times back in the late 70's?
Infectious song with a great hook... repetitive but the hook sinks in and the vibe is so positive that you can't help but feel good. The video? Well, Janet did not have Michael's gravity defying physical presence (The ending dance sequence of Beat It is so stunning it requires a video category all it's own), but When I Think Of You's choreography tells a perfect little story of lovers meeting out on the street as each alley-way, backstreet & nightspot become small chapters in what is a perfectly concepted video musical. Brings me back to days of watching videos on MTVs videowaves mid 80s when there was time to waste and years to burn.
She has a what seems like an innocent quality, no not a supreme dancer like her brother, but a beguiling (oops big word!) smile and a tenderness which melts your heart.
This is one of those " Cure for happiness " songs, whenever I feel sad, all I have to do is play this video and I'm quickly happy again. The video, the song, the lyrics, this is what you called pure perfection at it's best.
Not like the chaotic world today.
No nudity, no swearing, no twerking, just talent.
And this is what she did. Just talent. We need this kind of muaic back on radios.
It was this album and song that encouraged me to come out. In my early twenties, I was known to be a shy guy. It wasn't until I spent my weekends in NYC. that I would visit the Lime Light, Palladium, and Tunnel. When hearing Janet's music, it made me overcame that shyness and dancing in front of others was easy. What really inflated my ego, is when I had African American men come up to me and complimented me on my rhythm. To this very day, means a lot. White men can have rhythm.. 🙂 Thanks Janet. Love and Kisses. Jonathan
It was a good time to be a kid in these days. Sad thing now is kids wake up to shitty ass rap music and faux R&B songs jacked up on sex and violence. Sad state of affairs America.
