Happy 58th Birthday Janet Damita Jo Jackson!(Born May 16, 1966)😃🥳🎂🎉🎊🎈🎁🍾🥂🎀🌷🌹💐👍🏾👏🏾🙌🏾
How many legends are listening in 2024?
Me
I only started listening to it after hearing it on a night out in Manchester 2 weeks ago.
It’s a legendary tune.
I am 😂
Yooooo.❤😂🎉
Yoooo❤❤❤
"You seem to think you're God's gift to this earth...You ought to be thankful for little things, but little things are all you seem to give." Whoosh whoosh 😹😹😹
if couples counseling doesn't work, a dance duet inside an empty restaurant is always a good next option.
Or a dancing duel
Paul Abdul sitting at the table in the beginning watching her choreography in action is iconic
I love it more than many things
The shoulder action was everything!
And shoulder pads was everywhere.
EVERYTHING!!!!!!!!
That's where titi aka blameitonkway got his thot bop from.
I'd call it The Shoulder Attitude.
Hell ya 😍💃🕺
3:07 closing out the group choreography with The Cabbage Patch yasssss
Lol, I've never noticed that!!!
Happy Blessed Birthday Queen
👑💐👑💐👑
So fun to see both Janet and Paula together.. So 80s
These two beauties Absolutely beautiful
I've been seeing this for over thirty years and I just realized that was Paula Abdul.
Blink Janet Blink
Absolutely, she did choreograph a lot of her videos.
Great dancers
I need to learn this choreography for when my trifling nigga gets me fucked up again
LMAO 😂😂😂
Janet Jackson is now the queen of pop music opposite the legendary elvis presley the king of rock n roll music ❤❤❤
What has you done for you lately? Tell him Janet..Oh , Yeah !!😮
Back when a dance off was the answer to every conflict! *LMAO*
Lorelei Jenn 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 DANCE OFFS WERE DEFINITLY NOT THE ANSWER TO EVERY CONFLICT
Yeah like in guardians of the galaxy lol
😂😂😂😂 so right
Break Dancin.
Good old days
Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis did the damn thing with this one.
and a little boy
With Paula on the choreography? Yeah they all snapped with this one
Shoulder pads back then ❤love the. Song and Janet Jackson. And Michael Jackson.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
My lord take me back please❤🙏
The shoulder pads of it all ❤️😂😂❤️❤️
80s was golden age.
So true. I remember all the fun toys we had back then.
it depends. But Pop was the golden age
Heck yeah.
There was so much good music back in the 80s and 90s. The new music that comes out and the new songs from the reality show Songland don’t even come close to 80s music.
60's, 70's & 80's
Janet’s so naturally talented she’s dancing better than the choreographer.
And @2:03 it gets me every time dancing upon the camera
37 years and still a slamming jam!
"CONTROL" wasn't just an album, it was a message of women empowerment and janet delivered the message without question ✊
And arguably the first New Jack Swing album ever recorded.
@@rommix0 well you had the dynamic duo of jimmy j and t lewis on the production so that's very likely ✊
The music, clothes and hairstyles back then were great. I miss the 80's.
And the AIDS pandemic and Ronald Regan. Good times. 😐
What has music done for you lately? 🎶 🥁 🎵 🎸 🎺

Bro every generation+decade has its problemes....
Agreed. I miss the 80s too.
Queen Janet!
This song has not and will not go out of style. Simply sensational.
100%… I am an underground DJ, I dropped this in set to close down and it went off… it’s such a funky, ahead of its time sound… those synths are exceptional
The song itself, hell no. The hairstyles though… 😂
@@Aberration79 Jimmy , Janet and Terry
80s
kkkkk
Back when they had real dancing, and full out choreography in music videos!! Can we have these days back please?!
And actual singing.
You can't beat the 80s music no way
I know right :)
but this from her 1992 janet album remember poetic justice?
No it's from her "Control" album that came out February 4, 1986 I researched it. You can't deny that 80's style lol. She was waay younger here.
+xKeepTheFaithx oh ok she looks around 16 here lol
Ikr lol

I don't believe in any of those personality traits, I do know they're some people who are very ignorant about Life.
She been legendary ⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️⚡️
Back when music videos were a big musical production. Sets, lights, choreography, etc. It's such a lost art on this generation.
Korean pop still does this.
Idk what music videos you have been watching but music videos still have huge production behind them.
Guessing you haven't seen a music video since this one...IJS
What? I would say today’s music videos have bigger productions
exactly!
Shout Out to Terry Lewis and Jimmy Jam for producing and writing such wonderful song... Janet killed it on the vocal.... A classic for real..
Janet also wrote and produced this song and all of her others.
@@tap6994 WHYDFML sounds like a Prince penned song.
In the 1986 Parade Tour's First Ave show, on Christopher Tracy's Parade Prince says: "Jimmy Jam, I don't want to hear any of this on your new record. If you hear any of that on Jimmy's next record, you'll know where it came from."
Prince also sings the line "what have you done for me lately" at the beginning of Controversy.
@@ginasousabranco5637 isso sim é informação!!! THANK YOU :)
Prince wrote this and it was gifted to Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis as a olive branch for their feud for producing other acts outside of the Time, it was meant for them to use on their solo project. Janet heard it and begged for them to let her record it. ....it was never intended to be on Control. It became a Janet standard and also rehashed the beef between Prince and Jimmy Jam/ Terry Lewis.
I like this song the best. Paula Abdul is cool also
You oughta be thankful for the little things, but little things are all you seem to do. FIRE.
This song is better than 99% of anything current.
This song is better than 99% of anything.
You could have stopped there.
I mean, this song is trash, but definitely better than anything in Korea or Adele. The beat is godawful, but better than those mentioned.
@@arsenioseslpodcast3143 sir, this song is 1986. At that time, this beat was groundbreaking and fashionable. It is the foundation for later beats.
Welcome to the 1980's. Most of it was far better than the complete chit we now have to endure.
These comments are so annoying
Those shoulder movements !!
The 80's seems really fun lol
+female It was!
it was..we had soul train, apollo, putting on the hits, solid gold so many more shows. great singers.

Hairstylist14 Honeybee oh zhyt uoo rember putting on the hitz clazzic

Control is an excellent album.
This was the first single released to drive up hype for the revamped Janet, and it did so well!
I don't know I got here even though I'm a huge Janet fan, but since I'm here:
I love how the deadbeat boyfriend literally walks in right out of the 50s with his leather jacket and cuffed dungarees. Living for the cheap, hand drawn background and my personal favorite, the bored cook dusting the bare cake with his shoulder towel.
Good shit that could only be born in the 80s.
:/ i was trying to think of any songs i couldve ever recited back to any past lovers. Honestly, i cant even sit in a car listening to any music around males. Bc ill just start feeling weird. I think of the most opposite sh they would ever listen to & keep it there. I remember a time where my baby dad & i couldnt ever not get into a fight over music bc itd be like oh yeah? Is that how you feel? ,,, That type dumb sh. But 😁 yeah, i sang this to him in an over the top way. I started off trying to pretend i was sincere. But it escalated quickly into bitchiness. He was in jail & i was fed up w/ his bs.
you ought to be thankful for the little things but little things are all you seem to give. GET IT JANET! the hair, the beat and the dance moves. this is why janet jackson is is legendary and the first artist to be named "MTV ICON". i'm still waiting for her to be inducted in the rock n roll hall of fame. her time is overdue. janet has nothing else to prove.
If you watch the video carefully, Janet wasn't dancing much but moving her shoulders up and down, which made it look like she was really a skillful dancer.
That line is a HUGE contradiction 😂 if she were thankful for the little things, she wouldn’t be complaining about him giving “little things..” which I think is her subtle way of telling us that he has a small penis 🤣
Janet was a bad mamma jamma, still STILL is!! I tell you, she influenced fashion for sure, and yes I use to put my hair up like that LOL. The era of Paula Abdul choreography!
Her best song!!!
Sounds like a Prince song actually. Very smooth and cool
the myth is that Prince actually wrote this.
What you talking about Willis?!
@@UPBEATFOREVER what about it?
@@UPBEATFOREVER Prince wrote and gave it to Jimmy and Terry The Time era.
During his 1990 tour Prince performed this song and would shout out sarcastically, "Who wrote that?". So he probably did write it.
@0:16.. Paula Abdul. "What has he done for you late llly"
Classic.
Holy shit! You're right. That is Paula. Just think: just before shooting began one of them said to the other, "One day, we'll both be big stars." in a semi-joking way. Strange how these things work out.
@Robert Lee, Countertenor so Paula and Janet were homies? Didn't know that
This beat goes hard
The beat of my life!
Toooo hard 😆
especially on that breakdown
Thank Prince.
@@turtlesage28 Unless you're referring to Prince firing them for sneak producing those SOS band hits which set them free. Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis produced the whole album.
I always hollered at 0:55!!!🤣🤣🤣
Yeah, well he's no longer Rudy Houston. He's now Lana Houston. . .

I don’t think any of us realised how iconic that conversation between Janet and Paula at the start would become
I'm sorry I'm Gen-Z, I'm guessing Paula is the other girl? What's her significance?
@Emma Bennett Paula Abdul.
@@emmabennett7699 ela era a coreógrafa que organizava as danças da Janet e outros grandes artistas da época. Por isso aparece no vídeo.

Anything from Control is good. I just love these little 80's videos. My jam.
Janet raised an entire generation of strong, empowered women. She's a queen.
How? How is it empowering to follow about in slagdonna's nasty hoof-prints. She'll have to do more than that and make better records than the best do too. I don't know of any empowered woman who became that way just be watching this vid or buying the thing!
Yes!!!! I'm such a Janet girl!!!

They should have never underestimated Janet Jackson, Never! One of the best songs ever!
Sean H, It's funny you say that. Her first two solo albums (1982 and 1984 releases) failed to really advance her music career. So in essence, the public and media wrote her off and thought she would go back to acting and fade into obscurity as far as her singing career went. But no, no, no. In 1985 she ditched her father's control and the beat producers he set her up with on her first two albums and hooked up with Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis and the rest was history.
This song was her breakthrough hit in the UK,reaching number 3 in May 1986.
"I never ask for more than I deserve... you know it's the truth.. you seems to think you Gods gift to this earth im telling you no way"... love it yall got to give Janet her flowers she's great in what she do
I love Janet's expressions in this videoclip, an angel face but very angry, so funny!! And that smile at the end!! What a cutie
When I watch this video, I 'm 15 again. Thank you for uploading it. Greetings from Chile!
My favorite things in no particular order:
The snake (head, neck to shoulder roll dance);
Side eye on almost every scene;
Shoulder Pads that could cut ice;
and the waiter/cook that keeps rolling his eyes.
this is the quintessential 80's video, big hair, dance sequence, and all!
She has Michael's beautiful eyes
Yes she is very cute. I love her and all siblings of Michael.
Yeah i agreed on that one Michael's eyes are so cute👍😍
My old high school football coach uses this song as an example of how to be a consistently great player, and how to get on the field. What have you done to make this team better, to deserve a starting spot on the field?
What a talented family - Janet, Michael, Jermaine, and everyone else.
CLASSIC!
This video jump-started the careers of Janet, Paula and Janet's longtime iconic choreographer Tina Landon. We had no idea how much greatness was to come from these women.
PAULA CHOREOGRAPHED THIS ROUTINE
@@majik31401 but Tina gained her mainstream notoriety from her work with Janet...which started with her first dancing with Janet and later becoming her friend and go to choreographer.
@@petermurdoch7540 Absolute rubbish. Paula did not choreograph any of Michael's videos. Ever. She choreographed the "Torture" video for the Jackson brothers. Michael wasn't in the video or even on the set. NOBODY knew who she was when she did that video and she never even met Michael. Jackie introduced Paula to Janet, who hired her to do the videos for "Control". and THAT was how she became famous. Everyone knows this story. Paula has talked about it over and over. And once again, for the millionth time, I have to mention how ridiculous you MJ fans are, always trying to give him credit for every damn thing that Janet does. Honestly, you MJ fans are psychotic.
@@hutch1197 I’m a fan of real music, not puppets of the Semite run entertainment industry. This was info that I’d heard second hand in the eighties in Australia. I really don’t care.
