Thanks again Andrew for another fantastic tip guide x
So...
1. pickpockets
2. Book in advance
3. Suncare and hydration
Thanks, planning a trip soon.
Don't come here, it's better for everyone. Thanks
@ que dices
@ can you imagine no one spending money there anymore. No jobs no wages.
Thanks Andrew for highlighting this to us all 👍🏻 better to be safe than sorry 🙌🏻
Also do be careful at the airport. I had my purse stolen after my bag went through the scanner. The trays were being shoved so quickly through that they were all piling up at the end. The policeman standing there couldn't care less. No help at all.
It’s been almost a year now since we had our horrifying experience in Tenerife, I’m very sure if we hadn’t have had our wits about us, the out come would’ve been very different, we got followed by multiple different men god knows what their plans was but I’m 100% sure it wasn’t anything good! Myself my daughter and her friend was out on our first night and left 3 days later, it left us that scared we abandoned a 10 day holiday for my daughter’s 21st. Thanks to Andrew, Laura and his fantastic staff we got to the airport safely after not being able to trust anyone else.. Please take Andrews advice seriously! It’s took this long for me to be able to even post about it! Massive thank you to you all you will never know how grateful I will forever be that you helped us!
Horrified to hear that. Whereabouts did this happen.
Thanks, Andrew, for another live . Yeah unfortunately some people don't realise how strong the sun in Tenerife is. We always use SPF 50 and yes you still get a tan with that .
It happened to me. Arrived home yesterday after a 10 night stay. I was pickpocketed on the 1st day in Koala Bay clothes shop opposite the Monkey Beach club. They took my wallet which had my debit card, credit card, drivers licence and 160 euros in it. Fortunately I had another credit card and most of my cash in the safe back at the hotel so was able to continue my holiday. Cancelled my stolen cards immediately and was lucky they hadn't been used (just the inconvenience of getting new ones). New drivers licence was waiting for me when I got home last night. This was a nasty experience, so be very very careful out there. Don't take your wallet out there. good advice from Andrew there
I am recommending people to buy a bum bag with a padlock and use a hotel safe for the most important value.
My recommendation is to get more than 2 bank cards for backup when traveling.
These are the pickpocketing tips.
They tried with me a few weeks ago I posted in Facebook tried to pinch my phone but it was an empty case in Las americas but I caught him he ran off with a sore eye lol but I wore a bum bag and put it under my shirt so wasn't visible
i'm going to Tenerife next month and i'm looking forward to it as it's going to be my first time there! i've been to the canary islands before but that was in the 90s so this will be a much needed vacation for me! thanx for the info! cheers from Sweden!
Great tips Andrew. However, my friends had their safe robbed in July. The thief took all their cash from the safe and the hotel didn't give a jot. I am waiting for their permission to name and shame the hotel. They are still fighting it.
name it has soon as possible, it should be banned.
Thank you so much for this Andrew. I’m over on Friday with my friend so will definitely be taking on your advice/tips. 🥰☀️🥰xxx
Thanks Andrew well worth blogs like this especially about pick pockets extreme care is needed. You would think these days most folk would take plenty of suncream on holiday factor 50 for us however it is incredible how so many people just don't seem to realise the danger of sunburn
Great advise - we saw someone have his wallet stolen off the table at one of the sea front restaurants just grabbed it when passing and ran! Can’t be too careful xx
A great reminder. So many people walk around with phones and wallets in back pockets. It's the same in London. I see people in front of me on the escalator and almost feel the need to point out how silly they are but being London they'd probably tell me to mind my own business. Lol.
Hi Andrew, another warning for our friends. Last Saturday night I had a pickpocket try to take anything from my lower shorts pocket between me & my Wife as we left the Mercadona & crossed the Zebra crossing near the San Eugenio Shopping precinct.
We were walking hand in hand with her shoulder bag between us, I had a bag in my left hand.
As we approached the bus stop on our left ( 17.00 very busy time ) a man with a backpack deliberately stepped in front of us ( not uncommon here) we had to stop. Seconds later I felt a hand trying to lift the velcro on my bottom right lower shorts pocket, quick as a flash I tried to grab it but she pulled away from me & ran towards & across the other zebra crossing where there is another bus stop she was also accompanied by another girl.
I believe there were a 3 person team ( & have since worked it out) 1 to stop you snatcher then passes to 2nd girl & she walks off. You catch the snatcher she has nothing on her.
They got nothing that pocket had a couple of serviettes & my glasses in it, but obviously gave the impression of rich pickings. My shorts have top zip pockets that are very secure.
But for the safety of my Wife I would have gone after them & they would not have liked the consequences !!!.. But with hindsight better I didn't.
We walk this way a lot & I'm sure this is how it works.
There are bench seats either side of the crossing they sit on one of those to pick their target as you walk by, notify the stopper & follow behind you waiting for the right moment to act.
But this time they were fooled & they knew it that's why they ran.
Sorry for the epistle, but wanted to make it plain how it works for others to be on there guard always.
Is it still warm in febuary ?
Great update Andrew and good advice , especially around pick pockets and thieves , appears to be more prevalent in all holiday spots these days unfortunately ☹️
Oh my I didn't know winter is a big season for tourists there but it makes sense, it's the only warm place in Europe! I'm going to Lanzarote in 2 weeks. Thanks for your advice:)
I would also give an advice don't forget to pack warmer clothes :) you never know what the weather may look like..
Is there only problem of pick pocketing or any other type of violence? Is there any physical attacking? How secure is the hotel?
Hi Andy, tip for pick pockets, always take out each day about €40 and I wear shorts with zip pockets, dean at nottingham,be there dec 3rd
Visiting Puerto de la Cruz from Dec 16-25. Solo traveler. My second time in Puerto but last time was 20 years ago. Also had a visit to Adeje back in 2012. Love the Island. Managed to find some cheap flights from Finland down to LPA and then Island hoppning with Canaryfly over to TFN. Not a bad deal paying 29€ for one way between the Islands.
Last Christmas in Tenerife it was 26c and felt even hotter. I saw 2 poor little girls covered in blisters 😢 DEFINITELY need sun screen guys!
Thanks Andrew 😊
My mate just came home from a stag with a concussion from getting mugged. He wasn't even the only one in his group who it happened to.
Thanks Andrew for all this information but the pickpockets has gone on for years happened to us years ago and I'm always careful unfortunately i won't be back to tenerife ❤
I have my wallet and phone in my pockets, i also have my hands in the pockets. Not easy to steal them.
Tip 5: Use sunblock.
Good reminder
How much do you charge for a car in January?
Take some small magnets, great for keeping all your daily newsletters together. A highlighter is also useful to plan your evenings, as entertainment can overlap. Enjoy
Just one question mate do you have to have a permit for mt Tede now I know you didn't need one in 1991 when we walked up to the summit then the views are amazing and it looks just like your on another planet with all the volcanic rock
I'm just wanting to visit the volcano with very good memories I was only 13 back then when my mother and father took me and my brother's I also loved los Cristianos and las Americas yes time flies I'm 45 now
Hey Andrew, gran canaria is ace we have been going there 26 years , spend 50 nights a year
We watch your show and it's fabulous we are from isle of man
Mark and Steve
Don't get too drunk, carry only your card, a copy of your ID card and your phone. I think the worst place to be is around Veronicas, don't let anyone come too close to you for no apparent reason... you should be alright.
Thanks for sharing this advice, We will be over in 6 weeks :)
Thanks for all the useful information Andrew .
merci pour tous ces renseignements 👋
Go to tenerife every nov for 20 years, definitely hear more people getting robbed. We only take out enough euros for the night and leave everything else in the safe. Had my bag snatch 2017, all my cards, mobile, money gone. Silly mistake on my part after having a few drinks and being too nieve.
Is the weather OK in November? .
@@catherinejones6250 fantastic weather. Hot in the day, and comfortable in the evening.
Thanks for the very good advice Andrew
I’m going to Lanzarote next month, been a few times and been to Tenerife aswell, last few holidays I’ve been paying on my watch hardly ever take euros around with me
Good tips Andrew, think everyone drops there guard on holiday.Got done only once, certainly upped my guard after having money taken when got my wallet out.
Had my phone pick pocketed on the la vista strip first day of my holiday I didn't let it ruin my trip though ..so it's not just in Veronicas it's everywhere there unfortunately
Thanks Andrew for sharing your latest news updates .
Good to keep reminding people don't let your guard down.
How is La Palma since the wild fires?
Aldi's suncream is excellent five stars for SPF and sun protection and only £3.99 a bottle sunfactor 30 it's in a brown bottle , my wife used to suffer with prickly heat but not since we started using this cream 👍🏻
Great tips Andrew.Thank you.
Tip 4. Don’t drink too much in the sun.
I appreciate your warnings about pickpockets etc. But it can have the opposite effect where people will be more concerned about booking who have not been before. Personally we have not had problems in Los cristianos . But we don't venture out late at night.
People robbed in Los Cristianos daily, especially on market days..people deserve to be warming IMO, sweeping it under the rug is worse. Letting people get robbed is worse..once they get robbed they never return to the island again
My wife and I separate when going through airport security. I go through with almost nothing, ie wallet, watch, then stand and watch as she goes through with our valuables.
Great advise , brilliantly delivered as ever !!!! Stride On !!!
Something similar nearly happened to me near Los Alisios, they hang around near Pizza May late at night, lucky for me my 2 daughters have eyes like hawks and cottoned on what they was upto so 1 stood in front and 1 behind ( both of them are black belt tang soo do karate ) Only found out the morning after so now only go out with just enough to cover what i need. Stay safe out there people!!
Hi Andrew
Is robbery a big problem on the beaches? If you want to spend the day there?
Dont leave your valuables unattended
Great advice 👍
Im in gran canaria for holiday im safe so far
Thanks Andrew, very imformative, any more tips welcome.
3 top tips. Have a great season!
I'm out next week thanks for the advice mate
Why doesn't do Spain something in order to prevent these Criminals coming into the Canary Islands? How is it possible the pick pockets are coming in? This certainly is not an invitation to have holidays on these Islands. 😢
The problem lies in the poverty stemming from the influx of external immigrants and tourists whose money doesn't circulate within the islands. Housing prices have surged by 50 percent. It's in everyone's best interest if there's a reduction in incoming individuals. Judging by statistics from the past 3 years, the situation is predicted to deteriorate further. Prices continue to escalate more rapidly here than in any other region of Spain, and we have some of the lowest salaries.
My tip to avoid robberies and pick pocketing
Put some expired credit cards and toy cash in an old wallet and make it conspicuous.
Thieves will target it and move on.
ANDREW, CAN YOU PLEASE TELL ME,WHICH CANARY ISLAND IS THE QUIETEST' AND THE "HOTTEST" FOR THE WINTER SEASON?? I'D BE EVER SO GRATEFUL, ANDREW, ANY SUGGESTIONS FOR A QUIET LOCATION PREFERABLY "ADULTS ONLY" EVEN IF IT'S FINCA STYLE ON THE HILLSIDE...PLEASE HELP SWEETHEART...BLOWING LOADS OF KISSES, ANN FROM SUNDERLAND...🏊🏻♀️🌅🐡🏊♂️🐡
Great advice Andrew I'm always extra careful I wear a money belt under my tee shirt I feel a lot safer I may be over in January happy days😂

Madeira has the same pickpocket issue. Really and toursit spot. Often they ride on the cruise ships. then poof they left the island.
It's same anywhere now .. my husband always puts his wallet in front pocket .. I can't even find it .. seriously I never take anything of value away .. .. thankyou for update .. 😊
If its hard for you to get at your money its harder for a thef.
Evening Andrew
Hi Andrew can you recommend a good chinese thanks
Put a rubber band around your wallet, makes it harder for them to get it out of your pocket unnoticed.
My husband has Short with lots pockets and puts money in each pocket
I didn't know there were soon many Black people in the Canary’s….
Why London what about liverpoool
Liverpool has it too but Londons crime rates are worse than Liverpools, especially for pickpockets on the tubes, phone snatchers and watch thieves..
Don’t agree I’m a big supporter of you you’ve been to London twice I’m in London daily it has never happened to me just don’t be stupid it happens everyday around the world for you to say London I come to Tenerife 3 times a year it has never happened to me people have to wake up if there in the country they come from that don’t walk around with money hanging out of there pockets or phones watches people need to come to there senses wake up!!!
Im canarian stay away from morocans, albanians an romanians and u will be ok
think I'll stay at home better the devil you know.
Eastern europe would be my guess.
