I feel it flopped was because she was always labeled as “that girl that is in victorious” because she never moved on from it. The others started other careers, for example Liz gillies moved on and featured in more shows, although nobody accepted tori for films/shows because everyone knew her as “tori” I think it’s to do with the fact people picture her as tori and not Victoria. She has an amazing voice and it is sad that it flopped.

I think it is because Ariana is a completely different person than cat, her body language is very different. Victoria used her own body language while singing and acting, so seeing her sing or move out of character isnt any different.

EXACTLY! when you think of victorious, you think of literally any other character. tori's personality was bland. all the other characters had a weird touch to them, like how cat always mentioned her weird brothers. sure, tori mentioned some weird things, but it was just a little chime-in. all the other characters had their own aesthetic that they dressed like, tori just dressed like any other nickelodeon main character at the time.

I hate it when people say “i think we all sing”. Most of the videos i found of victoria has that comment. Plus, sometimes we say things even if we’re not sure what we’re saying. I could imagine how hurtful or annoying it is for victoria when she sees that line over and over again.

People seem to also forget that like 3 of other cast members (Liz, Ari, and Leon) have been raised on basically child acting. Victoria is a good singer, yes, but she didnt stand a chance when it came to experience. Liv Ari and Leon have all been on Broadway at a young age, and Leon did voice acting as well for the backyardagans(as Tyrone~shocker~). So they've been trained in vocal projection and so many other things as young as 8 while Victoria had her teenage years for practice(I could be wrong about that one. I only know that she did Lola before Victorious) Casting wise all of them were talented, extremely so actually, but Victoria was just average when put on the same platform. Like lets be honest, Beck??? Andre??? Jade??? If they had more solos or just singing time in general it would really show just how average she was. Hell, when Trina *actually* sang it could probably upstage Tori.
But that's just my opinion.

That's why I blamed Nickelodeon for sucking not Victoria. Ariana was noticed from a CZcams video she published of herself singing because no music companies noticed her having little to no singing opportunities on Victorious. Did the show give her some attention? yes, but she wasn't their main goal, Victoria was. Nickelodeon couldn't make successful stars, awesome shows but if you look at it carefully, most actors that starred in successful sitcoms have the hardest time staying relevant when the show ends. Stop putting kids in sitcom unless you want their career to end early.

Ari was so smart, her first song was with someone else so other people obviously knew him and heard he was featured in a new music video. Then people saw how good her singing was and continued to keep up with her after she made most of her best sellers with also other people, like break free with zedd. Or problem with iggy, very smart ariana.
Victoria didn't make a good song and it was just a basic song you'd hear from a middle schooler, so she didn't succeed and she chose the wrong shows and movies to be in.

@siri H I completely disagree, factually. Arianna did not flip right to sexy. I remember watching the show and knowing she was going to be top of the charts soon. I think a lot of people did. It was plain to see she had an amazing voice- it wasn't just like every other actress on nick/disney that tries to double as a singer. Victoria didn't make it because she just sounds average. Yea, she can carry a tune, but that's about it. Arianna had range.
When Arianna started on her music career (I'm going by memory here, don't actually feel like looking this up), the first song of hers I recall was "Put Your Hearts Up", in which she was still wide eyed and sweet. But that WAS her appeal for a while! She was adorable! That got her a strong fan base on victorious that carried over and watched her early youtube videos. Whereas victoria didn't really have any draw. Everything about her was just average. Her looks, her voice. She was a normal person. Normal person does not a pop star make.
I recall Arianna's fashion staying cutesy for a while. Floofy skirts, bright colors, sparkles. But she also started wearing a lot of bustiers, which were still cute, but highlighted her breasts. Then bit by bit, she transitioned to thigh highs and crop tops and shorter skirts. And now she's defined her sexuality and still rocks it with way oversized clothes. She didn't become a sex icon overnight, she blossomed into it before our eyes and we all watched completely accepting because her VOICE kept us interested.
Shananananon I totally disagree, nobody heard about Ariana until she made the song with Mac Miller and it was more mature. That's the song that you heard on the radio all the time not the other one you mentioned. And yes, she is a great singer with great range which is a bonus. But be real, Victoria didn't have the sex appeal that Ariana did. And looks don't factor in because they are both beautiful girls. Nickelodeon's little kid fans only got Victoria so far and that's the reality.

I always knew Ariana would be the break out star from that show- people were calling her a baby “Mariah Carey”, but her vocals on the show were actually a lot closer to a young Christina Aguilera.
I loved Victoria, but even on her own show she was kind of overshadowed by the other characters: Ariana’s quirky “Cat” was so lovable she ended up with a spin-off, Elizabeth’s edgy, goth “Jade” was so on-brand for what was being pushed at the time (think characters like Sam from Danny Phantom and the goth chick on Total Drama Island), Avan’s ‘sweet bad-boy’ “Beck” was fun to watch, and who could forget Leon as the supportive, lovable best friend “Andre”?
Victoria’s voice was great, but her character was just a bit too ordinary to help her stand out on the show. I think that same perfect bubblegum image hurt her as a solo artist.

What I personally like and admire about Victoria justice’s career is how consistent her image was and always being true to who she is . Her career and image may not change and evolve as much, but she is still here. I think people are not used to the idea of a female actress staying more humble/lowkey. There is a beauty in subtlety too it’s just not something that is common in the industry for people to aspire to be or for others to expect from.. seems to me like the public is more concerned about this than the actual person themselves of how their career/life is going…

Maybe her vocals weren’t as naturally strong as some of the other cast but she’s still a good singer. Her range and technique were/are good, maybe she could use more training but I’m of the opinion that every singer should be constantly training, just like every athlete.
People really hate on her for her “we all sing” comment but I think it was a good thing to say. She was a CHILD, didn’t offend anyone, didn’t ostracize anyone but actually verbally lifted up the whole cast.
She actually has a great voice, better than some major pop singers currently. I think part of what happened is that her songwriting skills weren’t as good. That or the songs she was being given to sing weren’t great. She probably would have started with greater success if she had started out singing well written songs like Arianna did. That’s not a hit on her songwriting either. Every single rookie singer has to start somewhere and many of these teen pop stars have iffy debut albums that get better as the writer grows and hones their craft

Victoria failed victim to typical tv show curse “main character is only needed to create more interesting and fan favorites side characters” like in zoey 101, Lola was one the fan favorites of the show but with Victorious Cat and Jade became fan favorites

Lola was so beloved in Zoey 101 because we didn't have to deal with overexposure. That's always an issue with ensemble shows that have a very obvious main/center character. Just like Cat and Jade were minor roles so they didn't get overexposed either and the fans wanted more from them, as opposed to thinking wow I've had too much of them like we did with Tori. It's a shame because Victoria is SO talented.
This was an issue with glee. I remember fans always complaining and starting to dislike the actors/characters that got too much attention and were overexposed. In seasons 1 and 2, people hated Rachel and Finn and even Kurt but loved Santana and Brittany and Blaine because they were interesting background characters they wanted more of. Except in glee, those characters would get brought to the front when the writers noticed and they'd somehow screw it up and make the characters disliked by the fanbase as well.

The main problem is how Victoria was made to be the "generic protagonist" in her own show. Shes supposed to be the balance between all of her weird, quirky friends. Being normal, shes not very interesting compared to Jade or Andre, hence her decrease in popularity. It's also no surprise how the weirdest character, Kat, becomes the most famous out of the group of 6.
