You don't just wake up out of bed and have a voice like that btw folks. That's hours, and hours, and HOURS of beating on your craft. You have NO IDEA the amount of blood, sweat, and tears have gone in to his training to become this good. Simply incredible

I saw him singing on the street in Bakewell in February 2020 and I was rooted to the spot. He was amazing and I didn’t want to stop listening. I’m so glad he’s gone on this show. He deserves it all!

I’ve never been a lover of opera however this man’s voice completely changed my opinion as I could listen to him sing forever… The voice of an angel that is totally transcendent, he literally move’s hearts & souls! I couldn’t hold back the tears & it was a true moment of clarity when you can feel every hair on your body stand up, his a winner in my eyes!

When you listen to the woman who sang from the greatest showman who pretended she had never had a chance on the big stage despite constantly being on stage at huge events its a breath off fresh air to see someone genuinely 'off the street'.... Kudos Maxwell....
She looked very shy and introverted. So I don’t think she was faking anything. They both are fabulous

It's just another "reality tv" shtick, paying her to come to BGT (why?) and enhancing her story.

I got chills when I heard his voice. I closed my eyes and thought one of the Three Tenors was singing. Maxwell is that good. I hope he performs at the biggest venues in England. Truly amazing.
Even better, he's not yet another tenor, he's a baritone. It always seems like there are a bazillion great tenors, but so few exceptional baritones. Unfortunately, I probably will never get a chance to see him live, but who knows? He could make it to Dallas.

He’s better than the tenors… I grew up listening to them with my dad… I don’t remember feeling as moved by their voices as I was with Maxwell’s in this short example of a song… he is amazing.

I don’t know what it is about opera! I never would’ve thought I was a fan until I watch these people come on these shows & sing their hearts out. Every time I hear someone sing opera on these shows, I get the chills, & my eyes start melting! Amazing!!

I've seen him singing in the streets many times around South Yorkshire and play a few local 'gigs and it's a travesty that he hasn't had a break until now. His voice is up there woth Pavarotti, Bocelli, Domingo etc etc. I'm so glad people can see him now and he has an amazing career! 1.8m views in 48 hours! shows how broad his appeal is too!
My hair stood up also and I don't have any..absolutely beautiful voice. I was already emotional at the first sound of his voice

Maxwell Thorpe's rendition of Luciano Pavarotti's 'Caruso' deserved a golden buzzer. He is a bright shining light in the singing world. Any time as good as Pavarotti was.

Frank Da Horta, This is not Luciano Pavarotti's Caruso. This is singer/songwriter Lucio Dalla's 'Caruso." Lucio Dalla wrote 'Caruso' in 1986 as a tribute and dedication to the love story between the operatic tenor, Errico Caruso ( 1873 -1821), and the woman Caruso loved.
He doesn’t push his exquisite voice the way Pavarotti did. There’s something very refreshing about being humble!

First opera singer I've seen on any talent show who can hold the mic so far away and still remain clear and powerful! A true treat and I hope he does go far 👏
That's because true opera singers don't appear on talent shows. As an example, I have seen/heard an 8 stone lady fill the entire Cadogan Hall unamplified and without apparent effort, that comes from years of serious training and relentless practice not busking and singing in your bedroom. I am not belittling this chap, he is a very good natural talent, just not an opera singer.

But 10 years? Seems someone would have auditioned him in that length of time! Wonder what the back story is on that! I mention it only because the world might have missed out on years worth of a really great voice singing!!!

This is exactly why I keep watching shows like this, every now and then I am amazed by someone's talent, someone who hardly knows theselves how incredibly talented they are. Maxwell is fantastic and his voice is phenomenal !
this was truly one of the most pleasing auditions I've ever seen on any talent/singing show. his voice was impeccable and he's such a low-key guy, which just adds to the appeal. His Dad looked so anxious, proud and supportive all at the same time, beaming with love for his son. Bravo. .

I've never been an opera fan. But even with my untrained ear, I could hear and feel his musical genius! I could feel all the emotions in his voice. It was truly incredible! Bravo sir! Bravo!

How someone didn't discover him while on the streets is completely baffling to me. What an amazingly beautiful voice. Not that was GOOD QUALITY music. And to see all the younger people in the audience not only recognize it but also appreciate it speaks volumes.

I was honestly thinking “wow this is an awesome kind of music, I wonder why I haven’t listened to it more” so he must be good if he’s making me interested in an entire genre of music.
That was utterly BRILLIANT!! Maxwell’s nerves at the beginning of his audition completely left his body as something else took over. He is absolutely rock solid in his delivery and I see him going all the way. Congratulations Maxwell, and the look of adoration on your Dad’s face made it even more emotional for me !! I love this comment bc what u said about something else taking over is EXACTLY what happens. I have always had severe social anxiety..to the point where I don't even talk on the phone sometimes..but when I used to perform I had no problem getting up on a stage in front of hundreds of ppl. It's as if u step outside yourself or become someone else for that moment but yet I could never apply that to "normal" social situations that make me so uncomfortable n give me so much anxiety. He's amazing!! This was outstanding!!

what an amazing rendition there are parts that are world class as good as anything that has come before
